240 Jews whose Iraqi nationality had been revoked would leave Iraq yesterday, but the departure of these individuals has
been delayed due to the delay in the issuance of the final decision for their deportation from Iraq, and the deportation process of
these individuals may be completed today..
As for the progress of the registration process for Jews wishing to have their Iraqi nationality revoked,
240 people were registered yesterday, including 156 adults and 84 minors, and it was learned that
there are some problems that emerged during the application of the special law regarding the revocation of nationality for Jews
wishing to do so, and these problems are what caused some delay in the progress of transactions at the present
time. For example, how to process the revocation of nationality for widows and minors
whose husbands and fathers have died or fled Iraq illegally, and whether
these follow their guardian or legal representative. Likewise, the text of the law stipulated the necessity of revoking
Iraqi nationality for Jews who try to escape from Iraq illegally,
but does this text apply to those among them who are below the age of majority? We have learned
that the specialized departments have referred these problems to the Legal Codification Bureau to express
its opinion on them and clarify how to apply the law in such cases, and clarifications on
this matter may be issued soon.

The third convoy may have departed today
Yesterday, (300) Jewish persons wishing to renounce their Iraqi
citizenship were registered at the Meir Tweig Synagogue, including (174) adults and (126) minors.
The number of planes prepared to transport those who renounced their citizenship has been increased; and the turnout for
registration has begun to increase day after day. The third convoy, consisting of
three planes carrying more than 240 people, may have departed today.
