Registration Centers for Jews Wishing
to Leave Iraq -- Necessary Guarantees
Papers and Documents Submitted
Yesterday, some centers were designated
to register Jews wishing to renounce
their Iraqi citizenship and leave Iraq.
In one of these centers, which was set up
in the Meir Tweg Synagogue in Al-Bataween, the
competent police commissioner attended with the
necessary forms. A significant number
of Jews flocked to register their names and begin
procedures to renounce Iraqi citizenship,
however, when they inquired about certain
matters, the commissioner asked them for a delay to ask
and seek clarification from the competent authorities, and
those who had gathered left to return
this morning.
In the aforementioned registration center, some
instructions were posted organizing how to drop
citizenship and specifying the papers and other
documents that must be brought to the
registration center. Below are the mentioned instructions:
1- The person wishing to drop
his Iraqi citizenship must have finished the settlement of
all his financial transactions and others.
2- He must bring with him
census booklets (identity records) if they exist.
3- Every person over the age of eighteen
must bring four photographs.
4- He must bring one identifying
witness.
5- He must bring a capable
guarantor who guarantees to pay the government
and all municipalities, water and electricity committees,
railways, and the port any amount
that has become due or will be due by him, along with the stamps
required for this guarantee (financial stamps
of (150) fils along with a Palestine Rescue stamp
of (40) fils).
6- It must be known that
the person who signed the
special form for dropping his citizenship will have to leave
Iraq within twenty days from the date of
the Council of Ministers' approval of dropping his citizenship,
and he will absolutely not be able to recover his citizenship,
just as he will be personally responsible for providing
means of transportation outside Iraq, with
the note that the government and the Israeli
(Jewish) community are not responsible at all for anything
related to this matter.

These signs, which indicate the eagerness of the Jews in Iraq to travel to Palestine, have caught the attention of citizens in Iraq. These public auctions have opened their doors to gullible citizens who flock to them from every direction. If they were to wait, they would buy these items at the lowest prices; in fact, they will find that the most important thing they should hold onto is the cash still in their hands. This is because cash will become scarce, even if for a period of time, until Iraq can compensate for some of its losses with what it obtains from export prices! Whatever the case, public opinion has observed this phenomenon represented by the inclination of Jews to leave Iraq in an organized manner that proves the extension of the Zionist organization into Iraq. by experience and national zeal so that the
bank could implement the great task it took
upon itself to complete. But Mr.
(Dix), in his capacity as head of the trustees, forced
the National Bank administration to transfer to the
Currency Issue Department its twelve Jewish
employees, including even the binder and the office boy,
on the pretext of experience!! Despite what some
senior men of the mentioned bank expressed about the necessity
of appointing new elements in the mentioned department.
And perhaps Mr. Dix, who the government utilized

than the bank's board of directors what benefits and what

these people on the necessity of not relinquishing Iraqi
citizenship and going abroad out of concern
for the Issue Department and fear for the safety
of our currency from ignorant national hands!!

Issue Department enjoys the privileges of foreign experience
and the Jewish mind!! And without it

Details about the commercial fraud case
An Al-Akhbar representative contacted Mr.
Nouri Abdel Wahab, Civil Investigator of Al-Rusafa
for the southern region, for the purpose of following
the progress of the investigation into the fraud incident
committed by the two Jewish merchants, Moshe Zulekha
and Saleh Moshe Zulekha, which is the incident
we referred to last Saturday. Mr. Nouri informed
us that the case has not developed yet
as we had indicated. The fact is that the two
aforementioned Jewish merchants received from
the merchant Haj Jawad Hamid an amount of 1021
dinars as a down payment for their sale to him of 200
boxes of tea, and they kept stalling him for a few
days under the pretext that the tea was sent for chemical
analysis at the Health Directorate. Suddenly,
one of the Jewish merchants, named Moshe
Zulekha, disappeared. When Haj Jawad checked the
Customs Department to inquire about the tea, he learned that it
belongs to Mr. Ali Kamal according to official papers
proving that. At that point, he filed his complaint to
this magistrate's office. Upon considering his statement,
it was decided to reject the complaint as it was a civil
rights case. The complainant appealed the investigating judge's decision
to the Grand Court, which overturned the decision
and ordered an investigation to be conducted. Accordingly,

Iraqis are preparing to travel outside Iraq according to
the Law of Revocation of Iraqi Citizenship, which will inevitably increase
the confusion of our current financial situation, we have learned
that the esteemed government has refused the ownership
by some Kuwaitis of real estate in Iraq
pursuant to the Immovable Property Registration Law
in force. Does His Excellency not see,
under these circumstances, the release of the freedom to sell
immovable property to subjects of Arab countries
to encourage the investment of capital
that we are in dire need of on one hand,

We have learned that yesterday, as happened before, several Jewish trading and banking houses stopped paying due debts, including those whose owners had previously left Iraq and remained managed by agents. What has the government resolved to do? Does it not see it as a duty to take the initiative to respond to our request by enacting special legislation under which all deferred debts are considered due from the Jews, so that citizens might recover some of their money owed by them, especially before they flee or exit via the tail of the decree? Furthermore, does the government not see it as a duty to hasten to investigate the reality of the situation of Jewish moneychangers, most of whom are accustomed to exploiting deposits to trade and speculate with people's money? And does the government not see it as its duty to verify the existence of responsible Jewish individuals for the trading and banking houses? For it is not enough for these to be managed by agents who can easily escape responsibility, especially criminal liability.

the government and to all municipalities, water
and electricity committees, the railways,
and the port of any amounts due or that will become due
from them, along with the stamps required for this
guarantee (150 fils in fiscal stamps
plus 40 fils for the Palestine Rescue stamp).
6 - It must be known that

the special form for renouncing their citizenship

Emigration of Jews from Iraq
And Its Impact on the Economic Situation
The issuance of the bill regarding the deprivation
of Iraqi citizenship from Jews wishing to leave
Iraq has caused unjustified anxiety in the hearts of some
Iraqi citizens for fear of the local market becoming devoid
of the Jewish element, which had held the
reins of commercial business for a long time.
These people fear that confusion will prevail
in our national economy, and that
stagnation will affect buying and selling in the Kingdom,
leading, in their claim, to serious consequences for
the earners among the country's people. But what
we know is that the market's vacancy of some Jews

and the occurring drop in their prices will
not last for more than a short period, after which they

sold of them now is nothing more than worn-out
debris that time has consumed, and
the buyers at the present time are none other than
the poor who would not have found it necessary to buy them
had they not been offered in abundance, tempting them to do so.
If we say that good and prosperity will befall Iraq
from this emigration, we mean the good and prosperity
that will encompass the poor class, which is
the overwhelming majority of Iraq's inhabitants, because
the emigration of many thousands of Jews will undoubtedly
create a noticeable decrease in local consumption,
so the drop in prices of necessary materials will be
a natural result of high supply
and low demand. Also, the vacancy of
many houses of their inhabitants and many shops and warehouses

in terms of health and comfort. The
reduction in the rents of shops and public

our economic situation, and some people's fear

specifically the assistant, His Excellency Mr. Nail, we found the news with him
fully detailed, which is that the Iranian
Minister Plenipotentiary in Italy (Taqi
Qara Gozli), while on his way to Paris, died
of a heart attack on the road, and in
his company was Ja'far Mehr Mafkham, who placed him in
a box to transport him to Iran, and he arrived
at night in Baghdad, so the box was placed in a warehouse
and he slept in the Tigris Hotel yesterday, and when
the police contacted the Iranian Legation,
they said they had ⟦no⟧ knowledge of this, and after the early
morning it became clear that the box was a funeral
transported to Tehran.

Calls for Friday Holiday and Boycott of Jews
His Eminence Imam Al-Hujja Sheikh Muhammad Al-Khalisi delivered, according to his custom,
a sermon overflowing with noble meanings last Friday in the Safawi
Mosque. It was our wish to publish the sermon in full, but the space
of the newspaper prevented that, unfortunately, so we excerpted the following from it:
Servants of God, fear God; servants of God, look
into the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Prophet, and you will find righteousness,
success, maturity, and guidance. Beware of
the world deceiving you with its trivialities and those of whims
with what they have been deceived by of misleading passion. Indeed, the world
is an abode of sin, so leave it; for if you do not leave it, it
will leave you. Who has remained on the face of the earth?
If you die, will they be eternal? You are mortal, and they
are mortal. How can one who dies grieve for the world?
And did anything of it remain for your ancestors? If they offered
a righteous deed, it comforted them in their loneliness and illuminated
for them the darkness of the pitch-black grave and removed from them
the punishment of the grave and the Resurrection. And if they brought
evil and corrupt deeds, then their portion in the grave is punishment,
in the Barzakh punishment, and in the Resurrection punishment,
and their refuge is the fire of Hell—an evil destination.
Offer for yourselves, O believers.
Have mercy on yourselves, O Muslims. Indeed, the worship of
God does not benefit Him, but it benefits you; and disobedience to Him does not harm Him,
but it harms you. God did not command you to do righteous deeds
except to bring benefit to you, and He did not forbid you from
evil deeds except to repel evil and corruption
from you. So why have you failed and held back,
cast reason aside, and turned toward what harms you?
You abandoned reason and its guidance; you took passion as a guide,
and passion is misleading, and the Devil is its advocate.
Do you not see the nations that abandoned the rulings
of their prophets, how they were disgraced and humiliated? We were not disgraced
among the nations except for our abandonment of God's rulings, His laws,
and His Sunnah.
This Friday, which is the day of the Muslims, you have
not turned toward it, while the Jews turned to Saturday,
the Christians to Sunday, and the Magi to
Monday. Far be it from any of them to work
on their holidays.
And this Friday, among the Muslims, God made it
an Eid for them, until the Commander of the Faithful, peace be
upon him, said in the Friday sermon: "This Friday
God has made an Eid for you, and it is the greatest of your Eids."
So why have you abandoned adornment in it and not halted
your business? Do you think that livelihood is in opening
shops and working on Friday? Have you not read
the Almighty's saying: "And when they see a transaction or a diversion,
they flock to it and leave you standing. Say: What is with God
is better than diversion and transaction, and God is the best
of providers."
God is the guarantor of livelihood, not work, even
if we are commanded to work and must comply.
Livelihood is entrusted to God, so be moderate in seeking;
it seeks you more than you seek it. So be moderate in seeking.
Indeed, livelihood seeks man more than man
seeks it, and it is not by work and effort, even
if we are commanded so. You see many or some of those
who do not fear God and have not taken heed from what happened to the Muslims
of humiliation and disgrace, daring to open their shops
on Friday while the prayer is being held. If someone blames him
for that, he answers that so-and-so did not close his shop
and I am following him. So why do you follow
the wicked and abandon the Sunnah of the Chosen Prophet?
Have you not read the Almighty's saying in Surah Al-Furqan
regarding the solitude of the Day of Resurrection and the grief of regret:
"And the day the wrongdoer bites his hands, saying:
Oh, I wish I had taken a path with the Messenger. Woe to me!
I wish I had not taken so-and-so as a friend. He misled me from
the remembrance after it had come to me, and the Devil
is ever a deserter of man."
This disbeliever who recognized a disbeliever like him,
and bites his hands in regret for the good he missed
and the evil he committed, says: "I wish I had not
taken so-and-so, nor associated with him, nor followed him in his work."
But far be it for regret to be of any use
that day.
Indeed, he who is misled from the remembrance is more worthy
not to be followed. Eminent scholars have interpreted the 'remembrance'
in this verse as the Friday prayer, based
on the Almighty's saying: "Hasten to the remembrance of God."
So He called the Friday prayer 'remembrance.' So why do you follow
those who mislead you from the Friday prayer?
O people of Baghdad, to you I direct my speech:
Call your brothers in God to halt work on
Friday, and say to them: if you have no religion,
then be free in your world.
O you group who did not halt work, if you have no
religion, then let there be pride in yourselves; and if
you have no zeal, then learn from the Jews.
Look at how they halt work on Saturday, even if their cost
is higher and more difficult, while you are stingy with
Friday by halting work for a few hours to perform the prayer.
This is Muslim Baghdad, its markets closed
on Saturday and open on Friday, and its shops were not closed.
Why do you follow the Jews when you are
Muslims? Call your community to cooperation
and solidarity, and to reject discord and disagreement,
that you may succeed and prevail. What are you waiting for?
Are you waiting for the Jews to take possession of your country,
while they have already possessed it through economics and have planted
intrigues and tricks among you? Have the Jews not fought you?
Have they not possessed your country? Have they not harmed
you and planted intrigues among you? They sold you
wood and possessed money to be a weapon
against you, while you buy their wood and wreckage
and give them money to arm themselves against you
and fight you and humiliate you and make you more lowly than
the people of Saba when a woman ruled them, so they were humbled and taken.
Why do you not pay attention?!
Where is the pride? Where is the zeal? What benefit is
wealth to you if you do not spend it in the way of God for your glory
and to preserve your dignity?
I have not grown weary of calling you, nor have I tired,
and I will not tire. But perhaps a thought occurred
to me, which is that since I was in Iran, my call was
answered. When I called its people
to the Friday prayer, they answered that
call; and when I said 'leave work on
Friday,' they obeyed, and you do not see now in Iran
anyone who practices work on such a day.
And it is with regret that wounds the heart that I
call you to halt work in Baghdad, in the capital
of the Islamic Caliphate, and in Muslim Baghdad, in
the shrine of the two Imams Al-Kadhimayn, yet you do not answer
this call. Where are you from the Almighty's saying:
"And leave business"? With what word and with what expression
shall I rouse you for your own good and for your religion? Establish for yourselves
a community that will be a benefit for the Muslims and a reference
for virtuous morals. Do not divide and do not dispute,
lest you fail and your strength depart. Fear God in
your worldly life if you do not care for the Hereafter; fear God in
your Hereafter; if you lose it, you have lost both the world
and the Hereafter. What is this bickering and rivalry?
What is this division among the Muslims? Do you not claim to follow
the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger? Is this what the Book
of God called you to? Is this what His Messenger commanded you?!
These two pure Imams are around you;
they were killed in the way of God and did not care for prisons
and displacement, and did not care for abandoning wealth
and children, while you claim their Imamate and profess
loyalty to them, but it is a word without action and a claim
without proof. Did you act as Imam
Musa bin Ja'far, peace be upon him, acted? Did you follow
his actions? Did you follow Muhammad al-Jawad,
the young Imam who struggled in the way of God
at the age of twenty-five and left the kingdom
to its people, removed doubts, spread knowledge, and died in
the way of God by poison? You are their followers—why did you not act
according to their deeds? I am rousing you to preserve your religion
and your world, to gain understanding in the face of your enemy, and to spread
your religion as it came in the Sharia, not as it was distorted
by whims and misguidance. For religion did not come
to one nation over another, nor for one country over another, nor
for one people over another, nor for one tribe over another;
rather, it came to humanity in general. So save humanity by your work
and by spreading your religion. O believers, be a group,
that you may win God's pleasure and His blessings; and upon you be
God's mercy and His prayers, if you act upon what He commanded you.
I seek refuge in God, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the accursed Satan.
"O you who have believed, fear God
as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims.
And hold firmly to the rope of God all together and do not become divided.
And remember the favor of God upon you—when you were enemies
and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor,
brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire,
and He saved you from it. Thus does God make clear to you His verses
that you may be guided. And let there be among you a nation inviting
to good, enjoining what is right and forbidding
what is wrong, and those will be the successful. And do
not be like those who became divided and differed after
the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great
punishment. On the Day when faces will turn white and faces will turn black.
As for those whose faces turned black: 'Did you disbelieve
after your belief? Then taste the punishment for what you used to
disbelieve.' But as for those whose faces turned white,
within the mercy of God they will abide eternally."

manner, those countries gained independence, and the states of Pakistan and India came into existence.
The Arab League: A large official institution representing seven Arab countries inhabited by
peoples not divided by religions, colors, or sects. This league issued a decision
to boycott Zionist goods and set the beginning of its implementation for early 1946, yet
the Arabs did not implement it at all; rather, they raced to win the satisfaction of (Tel Aviv)
and its goods, which flooded the markets of Beirut, Damascus, Cairo, Amman, and Baghdad in that
year more than any previous year.
The Arabs of Palestine were no exception to the rest of the Arabs in their refusal to implement the boycott decision
practically. I still remember that some of them were providing arguments they thought were irrefutable
that the League had erred in issuing that decision and that the interest of the Arabs of Palestine
requires cooperation with the Jews. I recently saw two of those collaborators
(and they were wealthy notables) among the refugees of Beirut and Damascus!
Today, some sincere people are spreading the call for boycotting (overbidding),
but they do not find listening ears; rather, lectures are delivered to them that remind me of the arguments
of those (collaborators) who became refugees...
What is the way, then, to avoid the abyss toward which our nation is moving with rapid steps
and certain persistence?
The only way is for human beings to change into different beings and for God to send
an Arab (Gandhi) alive to take the place of the League...

Jews Wage a Cold War
Resembling Civil Disobedience
The Jews have received from the Iraqi government all care and attention despite what has come from them of
and crimes, and the government still considers them loyal citizens. This tolerance has pushed them
to wage a cold war, or their situation today is like civil disobedience, and this
disobedience is evident in the commercial markets and in buying and selling transactions. Whoever penetrates the
markets sees that most Jews have refrained from selling in the prescribed manner as they used to do
before, and they do not sell their goods except in bulk, even though the market condition is good and purchasing
power is available. Their withdrawal indicates ill intent and the creation of disturbance in the
market. Added to this is that a group of them exploited their previous positions with
national merchants, starting to buy goods from Muslims and selling them to
their clients abroad, receiving the price and fleeing to unknown destinations, thereby
inflicting damage on national merchants. Another group has begun to pressure their debtors
to recover what is owed to them at a time when the Jew refrains from paying what he owes in
sums, citing flimsy excuses intended only for confusion and disruption.
Beyond all this, they have exceeded these limits and even refrained from
paying the taxes due to the state, pretending bankruptcy and economic hardship.
This disobedience and negative stance taken by the Jews has resulted in general paralysis in
the commercial markets.
This is a brief definition of what is happening in the country; this applies to all Iraqi
cities, which indicates that there is a deliberate plan agreed upon by all Jews to cause
chaos in the markets.
It was up to the government to discover the secret of this disobedience and work to kill it
because this anomaly caused and will cause the government heavy damage given the refusal of
most of them to pay income taxes and the escape of others under the cover of darkness.
The stoppage of many major Jewish merchants from paying has had a great impact on paralyzing
the economic movement, and until the recent past they were considered among those of
exorbitant wealth. Upon investigating the news about the secret of this stoppage, we learned that
the issue is nothing more than a heinous conspiracy to avoid paying income tax.
We have learned that one of those taxpayers was required to pay a tax of fifty
thousand dinars. So how then can the state collect this tax from them?
There is no escape for the government but to take firm measures with them, which is freezing
their assets and expelling them en masse from Iraq without restriction or condition. We will find
among the national merchants those who will replace them with lightning speed, and no stoppage will occur
as some imagine.
Based on the explanation above, we ask the government to study the situation
with a candid study to decide the final plan that must be taken towards those who intend
evil for the country and rob its money through devious, devilish ways.
Unless the government decides on an urgent plan to resolve this vital issue, the
situation may become more complicated and difficult to solve in the future.
There is another aspect we would like to touch upon, which is that the Import Directorate
should think about this situation of Jewish merchants and deprive them of importing as long as
they only intend through this reckless policy to hit the commercial markets
and rob the largest amount of the country's wealth, as evidenced by the stoppage of their largest merchants from
payment after they smuggled their money outside Iraq, and they are waiting to trade
with the money of Muslims; if they profit, they are satisfied, and if they lose, they flee with lightning speed.

it could be this or that, or it might
not be .. and it is clear that the people
did not show any interest in this or that.
This does not matter; what matters is that the opposition
wished to exploit a trivial incident
to declare a revolution!
The people have the right then to
wonder: Is it then an honest
opposition, that which does not revolt or
resign at the loss of Palestine or
at the lingering in dealing with the problem
of the Jews of Iraq, then revolts and resigns
at that trivial incident?
The people have the right to express
their astonishment especially at
the stance of the Independence Party deputies,
because this party — despite
the shortness of its life — has been able
to occupy the first rank
among parties and to hold a prominent
place in the heart of the people thanks to
its upright path in most

Let them go
We received word from President Mr. Hassan

The law to revoke Iraqi
citizenship from Jews who
wish to leave Iraq was the boldest
step taken by the government
since the end of the Palestinian issue
up to its current outcome so far.
This law had its distant
echoes at home and abroad ..
It was met in many Arab
countries with enthusiastic comments,
and newspapers in Syria and Lebanon demanded
the enactment of similar laws ..
The Jews themselves welcomed this
law in the early days ..
Then they went back and disbelieved in it!
Signs!
One of the first signs of Jewish
welcome for the law was their activity
in offering their furniture for sale in public
auctions, and they were active in selling their
immovable property .. Suddenly, their
degree of enthusiasm dropped when they learned
that the amount of money they are allowed to take
has been determined by the Foreign
Transfer Committee .. Then
they started saying that the law
is unfair .. and that they want
to travel, while retaining
their nationality .. Why?
The Unknown and the Known!
The unknown here is "Israel"
for the Jews here are ignorant of the truth
about the situation there .. and each
one of them believes that illegal
migration is a hundred times better
than migrating after
losing his Iraqi nationality, because
in the first case, he might not like
life there, so he returns to Iraq
in some way .. For this reason,
smuggling returned to the activity that preceded
the issuance of the law! For it is what
allows them to take all - or
most - of their money, and gives them
the opportunity to return if they wish ..
A large number of Jews were actually
arrested while crossing
the border to Iran!

Three days ago, one of the
registration centers in Baghdad
was opened, and a number of
Jews went to register their names and they
were very meticulous, asking about
minutiae and precise issues,
so the specialized commissioner asked them to wait until
the next day .. They want
to be aware of everything!.

about them, so traders began to work
with caution, and deal after they had lost
their previous confidence in the Jews who
were working with them!
And then!
All of what we mentioned is
nothing but a preamble to the topic
today.. and today's topic is
that the Jews of Iraq and other Arab
countries work according to
a plan, and with what is known of them in
terms of foresight in life affairs,
and in financial matters, they saw in the new
law what does not agree with their goals,
as they say that keeping
Iraqi citizenship makes it easier for them
to travel.. and that if they are stripped
of it, they will not be able to do so,
and it will be difficult for them to take out their money..
So there is no escape from the continuation
of their illegal migration,
and this is what happened before the issuance
of the law, and now, and it will happen
tomorrow, but this does not mean
that some Jews will not travel
legally. No, for the
Jew who does not possess
except a little money will not delay in
registering his name, and giving up
his citizenship. As for the majority who will travel
they will go by the previous methods!
This is the actual truth,
and it is what the Jews are saying now
frankly.. there is no frankness
beyond it.. so what are the measures
of the government?!
Slender Monitoring
The government has no
other means but one. That is
intensifying the monitoring, and the meaning
of strict monitoring is that the famous
proverb applies to us "Tee Tee, just
as you went, you came back." For the
government wanted by this law
to open the borders for Jews
who refuse to stay in
Iraq.. and the uproar arose
against the government because - as
was said in the Senate
and House of Representatives - it facilitates Jewish
migration and allows Jews to take
their money, and in this there is
harm to the country's finances
and its economy.. so when the other
measures were announced, the objection
appeared from the Jews themselves
and they returned to their previous methods
which enable them to hit three
birds with one stone,
migration to Israel,
keeping Iraqi citizenship
and smuggling their money!
A writer and journalist.. offered for rent!
The Ministry of Interior suspended our esteemed colleague, Al-Alam Al-Arabi newspaper
for thirty days.. and with this, our friend the writer, Mr.
Abdel-Qader al-Barrak became unemployed.. and he informed us that he is ready
to place his talents at the disposal of any journalist he wishes.. on
one condition unrelated to material matters. That is that he is not forced
to write on subjects that conflict with his political belief..
so whoever is interested should contact him through the owner of this magazine..

A Complicated Case
What is clear and understood from all
the above is that the issue of the Jews in
Iraq remained complicated, and will remain
so for a long period of time!
The government, naturally,
is not wrong in its measures, for it is
its right to take measures that
prevent the leakage of Iraqi wealth
abroad.. and to a
"state" with which a state of war
still exists between us.. and it is its right
- rather its duty - to take
measures that ensure the non-return
of some "naturalized" Jews
to Iraq for sabotage, as
happened in Egypt which allowed
its Jews to travel with Egyptian
passports!
Frankness is a duty, and this
frankness says that the Jew
who flees from Iraq,
and trains in the Israeli army,
and fights Iraqi forces,
it is not ruled out that he will return to Iraq
on some mission.. and stripping him of citizenship
is one of the preliminary measures that may
prevent him from that!

situation regarding the Iraqi
Jews.. so was the

on one hand, while turning a blind eye to
the fugitives and smugglers on the other hand.
And what is the fate of that commissioner?
And until when will the (soldiers) of Ali
Khalid remain free and at large, doing
as they please and spreading corruption
in the land, until they succeed in turning
the institution that was established to preserve
security, order, rights,
and lives into an institution that tampers
with security, violates order, and plunders
rights and takes lives?
The world has cried out from the actions
of Ali Khalid and from his protection of the Jews
in the midst of our war with the Jews,
but the officials at that time chose
not to (hear) that noise,
rather they invented for them a false
and artificial noise to glorify
the status of (their hero) through
planes and cannons for promising.
When their state collapsed, the truth
of that fake (heroism) was revealed,
and the distant and near, the mute
and the deaf, knew who Mr.
Ali Khalid was. And the distant and near,
the mute and the deaf, know
today the truth of that massive
army that Ali Khalid left
behind so they might continue to follow his
honorable traditions! And the commissioner we
are concerned with is nothing but a worshiper
of those traditions. So how long will
the field remain wide open before him and before
his likes? Has the time not come - and

for his firmness and determination - to carry out
a comprehensive general purge... with firmness
and determination?
A Personified Wealth
This is only one side of the story
of the Jewish gang and its smugglers,
and there are other sides, the most important of which is
that those masters and honorable men
from the subjects of (Israel) in reality
and subjects of Iraq in name, were
carrying with them a very large
amount of money: piles
of Iraqi dinars and other paper
currencies, and belts
(they wore on their skin) hiding
huge amounts of Ottoman and English
gold liras, and jewelry and gems that cannot
be counted or limited. And this - my dear
reader - is one gang that was
caught among many gangs
that escaped and are still escaping
from the hand, all of which transport a part
not to be underestimated of Iraq's wealth
abroad - to the enemies of
Iraq. And this large part
of Iraqi wealth - my very
dear reader - has settled in
the pockets of the Jews because you -
the sincere Iraqi and the honest patriot -
were and still are
dealing with them, selling to them and buying
from them under terms that suit them,
and you, in all circumstances
and conditions, are the object of their exploitation
and the focus of their hopes! You and
your brothers push each other with shoulders
to attend their daily (auctions);
and you are enticed by the cheapness
that has taken over the markets because of them,
so you go on depriving yourself
and your family of food in order to promote
their goods and facilitate their escape
- unintentionally! - with full
pockets. It is a (generous) insult
from you - or are you not the generous Arab
or the generous Kurd? -
to contribute through it to building the edifice of
your enemy across your borders named
(Israel).
Oh, what negligence - and it is hard for me to
say: Oh, what stupidity!
And did the government confiscate
this money? I do not know,
nor does the fortune-teller! And did
the government take all
precautions to prevent
the departure of the Jews' wealth from Iraq?
And if the Jews were able
to smuggle a large part of
their wealth abroad at
the most dangerous times
for them, when
we were fighting them in Palestine and when
we were preventing their travel, is it difficult
for them today - when Palestine has exhausted us
and their travel is no longer
prohibited - to smuggle what remains
of that wealth? And if

Jews Prefer Fleeing
Over Renouncing Their Iraqi Citizenship
Flimsy excuses they use to smuggle the country's wealth
It is noted that Iraqi Jews, after
the issuance of the law to renounce Iraqi citizenship
for those wishing to leave Iraq, have
been struck by something resembling daze and confusion, and
people attribute this to various reasons, including that they did not
dream that the Iraqi government would
resort to this measure which cut off
their line of retreat. Or, more accurately,
the line of return to this country if
conditions abroad do not favor them. And on
the other hand, they wanted to clear the way
before them to take their money with them in full,
without any reduction.
Therefore, we found the registration centers that
were opened for them find no one coming forward to register
their name voluntarily choosing to renounce their Iraqi
citizenship.
And the extremist specialists in
going to Israel, as well as the non-
specialists or non-extremists, repeat the saying:
"What will be the fate of the money of the Jews who
leave the country, and with whom does it remain? Will
the government receive it and give a receipt for it?
And is there a guarantee for the protection of those who leave
the country, whose destination is almost all to Iran?"
For this reason, we find alongside the reluctance of Jews to
register themselves to leave Iraq,
noticeable activity in the movement of fleeing to
Iran, preferring to be exposed to responsibility rather than
traveling after their Iraqi citizenship has been renounced
from them. The reason for this is clear; they,
when leaving in an illegal manner,
take with them what is light to carry and high
in value, unlike if their citizenship was withdrawn
and they left the country.
"Withdrawing cash from banks"
It was known that large amounts were withdrawn
from banks in recent months, however
another wave of "withdrawals" appeared
during this week upon implementation of the citizenship
renunciation law. What was withdrawn from
banks from the date the law was issued until
now reached about 300 thousand dinars.
"A tremor in the markets"
It is expected that surprises will occur (even
if they were anticipated) in the markets as a result of the declaration
of bankruptcy by some money changers
and private banks. Yesterday, the bankruptcy of
(Credit Bank) was rumored, which stopped paying
remittances transferred to it. Also, the bankruptcy of
a major Jewish merchant working in trade
and transportation was announced.
A wave of uncertainty and lack of
trust is sweeping the local commercial markets, so there is no discounting of papers, no selling,
and no buying except for cash, and this situation cannot
stabilize unless the Jews settle on a firm opinion
and define their position finally.

Fugitives and Smugglers
During the week, newspapers published news of the gang whose members were arrested while heading towards Iran to continue their journey from there - by air - to (Tel Aviv). The gang consists of about seventy Jews, including a number of women. The group is managed by some non-Jewish individuals who are - with deep regret and according to the definitions of nationality records - Iraqis and Muslims.
This is the summary of the news and its outward appearance. There are matters and facts that were not published and have come to my knowledge from people whose honesty I trust, so I saw fit to inform my readers about them and to give them the attention they deserve. The person who uncovered this gang is an officer of
our brave army, with the help of a number of his heroic soldiers. If interest - the interest of the officer and the interest of the country - dictates not announcing the names at the present time, this does not prevent me from praising him and his soldiers for their glorious deed, with which they recorded a new exploit for an army whose youthful history is full of great exploits until it became the country's primary pride. What increases the importance of the service they rendered to the country is that they were forced to fight on two fronts, and here is the clarification.
As for the first front - the external one, it is the gang of these smugglers and the smuggled, and it is the natural and exposed front, and therefore it is the
easy front. As for the second front - the internal one - it was represented by the person of a commissioner from the remnants of Mr. Ali Khalid, and it is the (abnormal) and secret front, and therefore it is the difficult front. This respected commissioner - following the traditions of his master standing before the High Court - accepted two hundred dinars in exchange for working to prepare the appropriate opportunity for the escape of the gang members between Talkan, where they were arrested, and Baghdad. Had it not been for the vigilance of the brave soldiers and had they not reported the matter to their officer immediately, the conspiracy of that small (coupist) would have succeeded. The result was that the officer and his soldiers insisted on guarding the (convoy) and handing it over to their superiors in Baghdad, and so it was.
What is its fate?
But I have the right - and the readers and all people have the right - to wonder: what happened to this gang and what is the fate of the (coupist) commissioner? The newspapers said that the gang was arrested, and this is not enough; rather, the individuals must be brought to trial as quickly as possible, and the trial must be public and the punishment severe. If it is in the intention of the officials to take these measures - and quickly - we will remain silent and praise their position... otherwise, it is better for them and for us not to expose ourselves and our country to the contempt of the outside world - and history! - because we enact

this particular period of the country's life as it
traverses the ordeal caused by the Jews of chaos
and confusion in the markets and depths. Tell
people frankly: boycott the Jews, and do
not buy anything from their (ruins).

We indicated that the necessary arrangements have
been taken to carry out the processing of Jews who
wish to renounce Iraqi citizenship for themselves
under the new law. Several centers
have been opened in various parts of Baghdad
for this purpose, and the conditions that must
be met by the Jew who wants to leave
Iraq have been posted. A large group of them
did visit these centers, but they did not possess
the conditions. We learned at a late
hour today that an incitement movement
has spread among them not to visit, under the pretext
that the conditions are impossible to fulfill. It was said
