Commercial Accounting and Financial Mathematics for the Sixth Commercial Grade
( 1 ) The following syllabus items were completed up to 18 / 3 / 1971:
1- Periodic Interests: Calculation of a single periodic interest - Deferring the payment of some or all interests
until the maturity date and then until after the maturity date for a specific
term.
2- Equal Payments: Investment payments and repayment payments - Extracting payment factors
(Payment amount - Simple interest rate)
3- Loan Amortization: Extracting the installment amount or loan amount when one of them is known. Preparing
the amortization schedule - Deferring payment of some installments - Advancing payment of some
installments.
4- Partial Payments: Calculating the balance on the maturity date using both the Commercial and American methods.
5- Compound Interest: Comparing it with simple interest - Extracting its factors using both methods
(Logarithms and Financial Tables) - Calculating the total sum if the period
contains fractions of a year using both theoretical and practical methods - Calculating the nominal
and real rates.
6- Equal Payments with compound interest including the calculation of its factors using logarithms and financial tables
for both investment and repayment types.
( 2 ) I will teach the following items until the end of the school year:
1- Debt replacement using the value equation method based on compound interest.
2- Loan amortization with compound interest using the logarithm method and calculating the installment using the special
table along with preparing the amortization schedule.
3- Bonds: Their valuation and amortization using the capital-only amortization method and the method of amortizing
capital and interest together, with the preparation of an amortization schedule for each case.
Note: The exercises given for these topics that I have taught were sufficient
and varied, and the exercises I will give for the topics I will teach during the remainder of
the school year will be many and varied as the remaining time allows me to do so.
