Mr. Khrushchev, Prime Minister of the Soviet Union, informed President Kennedy yesterday that he had instructed the dismantling of Soviet missile bases in Cuba and the return of Soviet missiles to the Soviet Union, in the interest of world peace.
Khrushchev said that orders to this effect had been issued to Soviet officers at the Cuban missile bases.

Regarding Soviet bases in Cuba
President Kennedy told Mr. Khrushchev, Chairman of the Soviet Union, that reaching a complete solution to the Cuban problem could be achieved within two days if certain conditions were reached in sufficient time.
In President Kennedy's letter revealed by the White House the day before yesterday, it was stated that the first step to be taken is to stop work on the missile bases in Cuba and make these bases unfit for operation.
