Presided over by Mr. Abdullah Obadia and attended by members Mr. Daoud Shlomo and Sami
Ibrahim Haim, Ezra Fattal, and Munshi Qarieen.
After approving the minutes of the previous session, the discussion of the appraisal list for the blacksmithing branch
and casting branch, and the machinery branch prepared by Mr. Munshi Qarieen and Daoud Shlomo, resumed. After studying it,
it was deemed that the estimated amount required for the machinery branch is approximately -/ 2100 dinars
according to list number (1) attached to these minutes. As for the blacksmithing branch, it was deemed that the amount
required for it is approximately -/ 250 dinars according to list number (2) attached.
It was also deemed appropriate to estimate the supplies for the casting branch at approximately -/ 350 dinars ⟦according to list⟧
⟦number (3)⟧
It was deemed appropriate to include the study of operating and repairing agricultural machinery
as a complementary branch to the machinery branch, if circumstances necessitate it.
The session was adjourned to convene at 6:30 PM on

Fifteenth Meeting 11 / 7 / 1949
Chaired by Mr. Abdullah Obaidia and attended by the members Mr. Daoud Shlomo and Sami Ibrahim Hayim
and Ezra Fattal and Munshi Quraishi.
After approving the minutes of the previous session, the discussion of the appraisal list for the blacksmithing and casting branch
and the machinery branch, prepared by Mr. Munshi Quraishi and Daoud Shlomo, was resumed. After studying it, it was deemed that the amount
required for the machinery branch is approximately -/ 2100 dinars according to list number (1) attached to this
report. As for the blacksmithing branch, it was deemed that the required amount for it is approximately -/ 250 dinars
according to list number (2) attached. It was also deemed appropriate to estimate the supplies for the casting branch at approximately -/ 350
dinars.
It was also deemed that in addition to these five branches, there is another branch that can be added as a specialized branch,
the agricultural machinery branch, where students train to learn about different agricultural machines
and how to operate and repair them. This branch can be studied if the necessary moral resources are available
and if there is a need for it.
It was also raised that the municipal authorities might not approve the establishment of the industrial school in its current location due to it being in a densely populated area. It was found that in this case, it is possible to:
a - Replace the building and land by selling them and buying another in the outskirts of the capital.
in agreement with the ⟦family⟧
b - Construct three houses near the current annex to the school and rent them out,
and use the current building solely as a school for lectures, or rent it to the community to be used as
a middle or elementary school, and rent another suitable location to be used as an industrial school.
The session was adjourned to be held at 6:30 PM on Monday, 18/7/49,
for the purpose of studying the plans and designs prepared by Mr. Sami Ibrahim Hayim for the factories intended to be established
in the vacant lot of the current industrial school to receive practical lessons there.

Under the chairmanship of Mr. Abdullah Awadiya and in the presence of members Daoud Shlomo, Ezra Fattal, and Menashi Kareen.
After the minutes of the previous session were approved, Mr. Abdullah Awadiya reported that he had studied the subject of the carpentry workshop
and prepared an estimated list of the costs of the supplies for the aforementioned workshop, which amounts to approximately -/ 1800 dinars.
This was following his visit to a carpentry workshop in Baghdad with Mr. Sami Ibrahim Haim, and he also
studied the subject of the sanitary ware and pipes workshop and prepared an estimated list of its supply costs, amounting to approximately
-/ 500 dinars, and due to the absence of Mr. Sami Ibrahim Haim, this topic was postponed for detailed discussion
and the preparation of the final cost list at the next session.
Mr. Ezra Fattal reported that he had prepared an initial list of supplies for the electricity workshop, but he
had not yet estimated its costs and promised to prepare the costs with a detailed list at a future session.
Mr. Daoud Shlomo and Mr. Menashi Kareen promised to prepare a list of supplies and costs for the blacksmithing workshop
and machinery at the next session.

1 - After approving the minutes of the previous session, the members resumed the discussion
regarding the factories to be established in the yard attached to the Trades School building
and the designs to be prepared along with the necessary machinery and tools and their estimated cost. Since
the matter requires personal follow-up and tracking, it was decided to distribute the tasks among the members
as follows:-

Ninth meeting of the Industries Committee
May 9, 1949
⟦line⟧
chaired by Professor Abdullah Obadiah and attended by members Mr. Daoud Shlomo
and Sami Ibrahim Hayyim and Ezra Fattal and Menashe Qaz'in.
1 - After approving the minutes of the previous session, a detailed discussion took place
regarding the areas and needs of the factories to be established in the courtyard attached to the building
of the School of Industries. It was initially found that there was a need for five sections in this factory:
First - for Carpentry Second - for Machinery
Third - for Blacksmithing and Casting Fourth - for Sanitary Tools and Pipes
Fifth - for Electricity
with attached divisions such as rooms for teachers and for machines, a laundry room, and a general storage room.
After studying the matter from several angles, it was found more appropriate for Messrs. Abdullah
Obadiah and Sami Ibrahim Hayyim to visit some available factories in Baghdad as a prelude to laying down
the basic lines for the factory intended to be built in the courtyard, provided that Mr.
Sami Ibrahim Hayyim prepares a design in this regard based on this information.
2 - The session was adjourned to be held at five thirty in the
evening of Monday, May 16, 1949, at the headquarters of the community presidency, for the purpose of discussing the design

Dear Salim Effendi
Enclosed you will find a copy of the theoretical lesson distribution schedule that I had organized for the
aforementioned industrial school. Since the members of the ⟦committee⟧ of industry requested me in the last session
to study this schedule individually and carefully, I hope you will organize a sufficient number of copies
of this schedule and distribute them to the members so that they can study it and express their requirements in this regard.
Thank you
Sincerely,
Abdullah Obadia

Fourth meeting of the School of Arts Committee
7 / 3 / 1949
Chaired by Mr. Abdullah Awbadia and attended by members Messrs. Daoud Shlomo, Ezra Fattal,
Sami Ibrahim Hahem and Daoud Shlomo ⟦Manshi Zubaida⟧

dated June 9, 1932, concerning the School of Arts, sent to Mr. Hezkiel Ezra Manshi and based
on twelve years of industrial experience in Baghdad, was read. Some members commented that this report
cannot be relied upon <del>due to its exaggeration</del> as it was prepared about seventeen years ago. It was also decided to assign the Community Secretary
to attempt to obtain Mr. Willden's report and the modern maps showing the current School of Arts building,
due to their extreme importance in the studies of this committee.
2 - The discussion began on the crafts to be taught in the vocational institute planned for opening, in preparation
for preparing the curriculum. Mr. Sami Ibrahim Hahem indicated that he initially considers making the minimum
study period three years, similar to intermediate education, with two additional years for productive practical training.
3 - After long deliberations, it was decided to classify the crafts to be taught at the institute as follows:-
a - (Mechanical) Industry - METAL-WORK -
1 - ⟦Pipe installation⟧ and sanitation (a) Plumbing & Sanitation
2 - Lathe work, filing, blacksmithing, and electric welding (b) Workshop - Mechanics
