And in the end, after six years, ten to the talent of his district
Immediately it flowed in the parashah and Hashem delivered (them) to his palm ⟦...⟧
Shevat # and let Adar flow within the situation quickly, O Hashem
Light of search as it is written in the Alphabet (how many)
And I said in my presence and as it is written and I said
And he answered me that this was from the mouth of the Almighty
With the help of Hashem, may He be blessed, 1-2 Sivan year 5635
The words of the youngest among the thousands ⟦...⟧ David Chaim HaLevi
Today is Wednesday, the twenty-fourth day of the month
of Adar in the year 5636 of the creation, here in Baghdad
may God protect it, I wrote all these words of dreams
mentioned above that were written with me on scattered
paper and I copied them here into this notebook
so that they shall endure for many days and not be lost
since they are wonderful and awesome innovations of Torah
which were revealed to me in a dream by the great Rabbi, the fortress
and tower, our Master Yosef Chaim, may his Rock and Redeemer protect him, may
his lamp shine for months and days, Amen, may it be His will
So are the words of the young and the poor among the thousands of Menashe
Shilu Yehezkel Reuben Menashe, may his Rock and Redeemer protect him
I wrote here in Baghdad, may God protect it, in the year 5636
in the first month of Adar, Wednesday, in the portion of 'And you
shall command' and so on, blessed is He who gives strength to the weary and to him who has no
might He increases power

M. D. It is written: He has a portion in the World to Come
And whoever occupies himself with Torah for its own sake merits many things
And not only that, but the whole world is worth it for him
And he is called friend, beloved, lover of the Omnipresent, lover of
the creatures, gladdens the Omnipresent and gladdens
the creatures, and it clothes him in humility and fear, and prepares him
to be righteous, pious, upright and faithful, and distances him
from sin, and brings him near to merit, and they enjoy from him
counsel and sound wisdom, understanding and power, as it is said: Counsel
and sound wisdom are mine, I am understanding, power is mine, and it gives him kingdom
and dominion and investigation of judgment, and the secrets of the Torah are revealed to him
and he becomes like an ever-strengthening spring and like a river that does not cease
and he is modest and long-suffering and forgiving of his insult
and it magnifies him and exalts him above all works
Rabbi Joshua ben Levi said: Every single day a Divine Voice
goes out from Mount Horeb and proclaims and says: Woe
to the creatures for the insult to the Torah, for anyone
who does not occupy himself with Torah is called 'rebuked,' as it is said: A ring
of gold in a swine's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion
And it says: And the tablets were the work of God, and the writing
was the writing of God, engraved upon the tablets, do
not read 'charut' (engraved) but 'cherut' (freedom), for you have no free man
except one who occupies himself with the study of Torah, and anyone
who occupies himself with the study of Torah, behold he is exalted
as it is said: and from Mattanah to Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamot

With the help of God
I will praise You, O Lord, for though You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away and You comfort me.
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid, for Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song,
and He has become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall you draw water
out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall you say, Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon His name, declare His doings among the nations, make mention that
His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious things; this is known
in all the earth. Cry out and shout, you inhabitant of Zion, for great is in your midst
the Holy One of Israel. ⟦Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe⟧
who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us regarding the reading of the Megillah.
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who performed miracles
for our ancestors in those days at this season.
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe,
who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season.
And it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus—this is Ahasuerus who reigned
from India even unto Ethiopia, over one hundred and twenty-seven provinces—
that in those days, when King Ahasuerus sat on the throne
of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the capital, in the third year of his reign,
he made a feast for all his princes and his servants; the army of Persia and Media,
the nobles and the princes of the provinces being before him; when he showed the riches
of his glorious kingdom and the honor of his excellent majesty many days,
even a hundred and eighty days. And when these days
were fulfilled, the king made a feast for all the people that were present in Shushan
the capital, both great and small, seven days,
in the court of the garden of the king's palace; there were hangings of white, fine cotton, and blue, fastened
with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and pillars of marble;
the couches were of gold and silver, upon a pavement of variegated marble, and white marble, and mother-of-pearl, and precious stone.
And they gave them drink in vessels of gold—the vessels being diverse one from another—and royal wine
in abundance, according to the bounty of the king. And the drinking was according to the law; none did compel; for so
the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man's pleasure.
Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house
which belonged to King Ahasuerus. On the seventh day, when the heart

Reuven borrowed a maneh from Shimon with a deed, and within the deed
trustworthiness is written for the lender, and it is also written within the deed that
he shall not claim any claim in the world, and even "I paid" and "you forgave me"
and even "you forgave me the deed" and even "he forgave me
the lien and you forgave me the person," and the borrower claims
"I paid the deed" and the lender says "I was not paid,"
and the borrower says "let him swear to me," for he swears and does not want
to swear, and he claims since you explicitly trusted me that I
cannot claim any claim in the world, if so, behold
you trusted me when I said I paid; with whom is the law?
Answer
The law is with the lender and he cannot make him swear,
and even a heiset oath he cannot make him swear, for behold he stipulated
with him that he would not claim any claim in the world, and if
he were able to make him swear, it turns out that he is able to claim,
for if he did not claim, he would not make him swear,
and since he stipulated with him that he would not claim any claim,
if so, he removed from himself all types of oaths in the world,
whether a Torah-mandated oath or a Rabbinic oath,
and even a heiset oath. And peace.

⟦...⟧ a bit of the cold ⟦...⟧
And on that day it was raining and hailing and the cold was very strong
And we were sitting in the synagogue and the homeowners were
praying the morning prayer with joy and with songs and with a pleasant voice
as per the ancient custom in the Land of the Deer and we were hearing the voice
of the Cantor and the voice of the congregation like the sound of many waters and all the people
men, women, and children were coming to the synagogue
to hear the singing and the prayer from the mouth of the Cantor and the mouth of the congregation
and the joy was very great and we were sitting
happy and good-hearted for all the goodness that the Lord had done
for His people Israel and in those days ⟦...⟧

⟦...⟧ he was a king in grace and in mercy over all
the Jews who were under his rule and he loved
them with a strong love and he would raise them and exalt them
over all the ministers and the servants who were before him
And he had one advisor and his name was Haman the Wicked and he was
hating the Jews with a great hatred and he was seeking
to destroy them and to eliminate them from the world
And this Haman the Wicked was a great sorcerer and he knew
the stars and the constellations and he would see in the stars that
the Jews were destined to fall into his hand and he was very happy

A page of the mystery and the secret of all secrets, hear what Cyrus said
to his messiah, etc. whom I have held by his right hand to subdue nations before him etc.
and I will ungird the loins of kings, to open the doors before him etc. Fear not, O worm Jacob
etc. and I have helped you, says the Lord, and your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
Hear what is written in it: Thus says the Lord to his messiah,
etc. for the sake of my servant Jacob and Israel my chosen, and I have called you
by your name, I have surnamed you, though you have not known me. I am the Lord and there is none else, besides me
there is no God; I will gird you, though you have not known me. So that they may know from the rising of
the sun and from the west that there is none beside me. I am the Lord and there is none else.
Forming light and creating darkness, making peace and creating evil, I am
the Lord, who does all these things. Drop down, O heavens, from above, and let the skies
pour down righteousness; let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up
together; I the Lord have created it. Woe to him who strives with his Maker, a potsherd among
the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it, "What are you making?" or your work,
"He has no hands"? Woe to him who says to a father, "What are you begetting?" or to a woman, "With what
are you in labor?" Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: Ask me of the things to come
concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command me. I have made
the earth and created man upon it; I, my hands stretched out the heavens, and all
their host I commanded. I have raised him up in righteousness, and all his ways
I will make straight; he shall build my city and let my exiles go free, not for price
nor for reward, says the Lord of hosts. Thus says the Lord: The labor of Egypt
and the merchandise of Ethiopia and the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you and they
shall be yours; they shall follow you; in chains they shall come over and they shall bow down to you,
to you they shall pray, saying, "God is in you alone, and there is no other, no god at all."
Truly, you are a God who hides himself, O God of Israel, the Savior. They are put to shame
and also confounded, all of them together; they go into confusion, the makers of idols.
Israel is saved by the Lord with an everlasting salvation; you shall not be put to shame or
confounded for ever and ever. For thus says the Lord, the creator of the heavens,
he is God, the former of the earth and its maker; he established it, he did not
create it as a void, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord and there is none else.
I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness; I did not say to the seed
of Jacob, "Seek me in vain." I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, you survivors of the nations! They have no knowledge
who carry their wooden idols and pray to a god who cannot save.
Declare and bring near; yes, let them take counsel together. Who told this from of old?
Who declared it from long ago? Was it not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides me,
a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides me. Turn to me and be saved, all the
ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out
righteousness, a word that shall not return: "To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear."
Only in the Lord, it shall be said of me, is righteousness and strength; to him shall come
and be ashamed all who were incensed against him. In the Lord shall all the seed
of Israel be justified and shall glory. Behold, all who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded; they shall be as nothing
and shall perish, the men who strive with you. You shall seek them and not find them, the men
who contend with you; they shall be as nothing and as naught, the men who war against you. For I,
the Lord your God, hold your right hand, who says to you, "Fear not,
I have helped you," says the Lord, and your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

I took a pot and filled it with water and covered it with a lid and
placed it on the fire until the water boiled
and afterwards I removed the lid and saw that the water was
dirty and also the water had decreased and gone
down and I said certainly this is the matter of Gehenna
for the water represents the souls and the fire is the fire of Gehenna
and the lid is the appointed angel who does not allow
the souls to go out until they are purified there
and this is the dirt that I saw on the sides of the pot
which are the sins that separated from the souls by
the boiling of the fire of Gehenna
and afterwards I saw another pot
filled with meat and I placed it on the fire like
the first one and I also covered it with a lid
and afterwards I removed the lid and saw
that the meat was cooked well and also the water had decreased
as in the first pot except that the water was
clear and there was no dirt in them
and I said all this is a parable for the perfectly righteous that even if
they enter Gehenna they have no dirt or sin
and they depart from this world which is likened to night
and enter the world to come which is likened to day and night
as the day shines and darkness as light and this is what David
the King, peace be upon him, said: Had I not believed to see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living, meaning a land that is entirely life where there is
no death and everyone who dwells in it lives forever and exists

On Sunday, the 24th of the month of Shevat, the year 5670 from creation, here in Anna
May it be established, there came before us the honorable Isaac, son of the honorable Joseph, of blessed memory
and said to us: Be witnesses for me and acquire from me now, with a complete and perfect acquisition,
and write and sign in any language of merit and power, and give into the hand of
his excellence, the honorable Abraham, son of the honorable Joseph, of blessed memory, to be in his hand
as proof and for merit, and as absolute and final evidence, that never
has there remained for me with him any claim or appeal at all,
not of money, nor worth of money, nor any thing in the world.
And all that was between us from the business dealings and all
that I had with him from the funds of the partnership,
I have received and been paid all of it from his hand to mine, a complete and perfect payment,
and nothing remains for me with him at all.
And all the claims I had against him due to the partnership,
I have forgiven him for all of it, a complete and absolute forgiveness from now on,
and I have no claim or appeal against him at all,
neither by the laws of Israel nor by the laws of the nations of the world.
And any deed or writing or ledger or any thing in the world
that may be found in my hand or in the hand of others in the name of the honorable Abraham
aforementioned, is all null and void like a broken shard and like something that has no
substance, and every argument and appeal that I may claim against him is all null
and void and there is no substance in my words. And we acquired from the hand of the honorable Isaac
aforementioned, for the benefit of the honorable Abraham aforementioned, regarding all that is written
and specified above, with a vessel fit to perform an acquisition with it, and everything is valid,
clear, and established. ⟦illegible⟧

I heard from a great sage in Torah and wisdom
⟦illegible⟧
And he said there was an incident in the days of the great luminary Rabbi Shimon
Lavi, of blessed memory, or that they heard in his name an incident that occurred
That there was a very wealthy man and he had an only son
And he loved him with a fierce love, and once the son fell ill with a
Very strong illness until his time came to die, and he commanded
His father and said to him: Know my father that I am going to my eternal home
And I ask of you one request, if you perform it
I will die in peace, and if not I will die in great pain
And his father said to him: My dear son, say whatever you wish
And I shall do it. And the son said to him: I ask of you
That you give for me charity in the amount of ⟦illegible⟧ gold coins every year
And that charity should be in your hand, and by your hand you shall give
To the poor. And his father said to him: My son, do not fear for I shall do
So. And then the son passed away to his eternal home, and the father would
Give the charity every single year as his son had
Commanded him. And it came to pass that the father lost his wealth and became
Poor and destitute, and he had nothing to eat or drink
And he was very distressed over his son's charity that
He could not perform. And it came to pass that he saw his son in a dream
And his son said to him: My father, why did you not do what I commanded you?

However, what the Rabbi, of blessed memory, wrote in his homilies
after he explained the matter of the five Partzufim of Atzilut and all
that he wrote regarding this.
And the Rabbi, of blessed memory, raised a difficulty
and afterwards set aside his intention due to the force of this difficulty
and settled it according to what the Rabbi, of blessed memory, wrote
in Gate 9 and as found in the introduction, homily
5, and these are his words: Know that before the emanated
beings were emanated and the created beings were created, there was a
simple Upper Light filling the whole of existence, and
there was no empty space in the aspect of vacant air
and void, but everything was filled from that simple
Infinite Light, and it had neither
beginning nor end, but everything was one
simple light, equal in a single equality, and it
is called the Infinite Light. And when He willed to emanate
the emanated beings and to create the created beings in order to bring
to light the perfection of His actions, His names, and His titles,
which was the reason for the creation of the worlds,
then the Infinite One restricted Himself in the central
point which is in Him, in the very center, and He restricted
that light and distanced it to the sides around
the central point, and then there remained an
empty space and air and a vacant void from the
central point. And behold, this restriction was
in one equality around the central vacant
point, in such a manner that the place of this void
was circular from all its sides in a complete
equality. And behold, after the mentioned restriction,
wherein there remained the place of the void and the air,
vacant and empty in the very middle of the Infinite Light,
behold, there was already a place where there could
be the emanated, created, formed, and made beings.

And abundance of peace and truth, and much peace to my relative the scholar, may his light shine,
A double and redoubled blessing, and great peace and life
Forever, so may He grant and so may He add to him and his offspring
Blessing and success in all his handiwork, Amen.
After kissing his holy and pure hands,
I inform your honor that I received his precious letter and I rejoiced
At seeing the peace of his Torah, and regarding what your honor wrote
About the child Meir, may his light shine, who was ill, may we be spared,
Thank God that he was healed, may God blessed be He guard him and keep him alive.
And regarding the matter of the goldsmith Nachum, may his Rock and Redeemer guard him,
Behold, I spoke with the aforementioned goldsmith and he said
That several years ago he paid the aforementioned debt,
And he has nothing with the aforementioned goldsmith,
And he also knew nothing of this matter
At all, and peace be upon Israel.
Thus are the words of his servant and faithful one who seeks the peace
Of his Torah always, all the days.
The young Ezekiel Joseph

I have said rest I shall not seek for you, it shall be well with you
and all that she says to you, you shall do, and she went down to the threshing floor
and did according to all that her mother-in-law commanded her, and she went and came
and gleaned in the field after the reapers, and it happened by chance
the portion of the field belonged to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech
And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem and said to the reapers
The Lord be with you, and they said to him, may the Lord bless you, and said
Boaz to his servant who was stationed over the reapers, to whom does this young woman
belong? And the servant stationed over the reapers answered and said
She is a Moabite girl who returned with Naomi from the fields of
Moab, and she said, please let me glean and gather among the sheaves
after the reapers, and she came and has stood from morning
until now, her sitting in the house is but a little. And said
Boaz to Ruth, have you not heard my daughter, do not go
to glean in another field, and also do not pass from here
and thus you shall stay close to my girls, your eyes on the field which
they reap and you shall follow after them, have I not commanded the
young men not to touch you? and if you are thirsty, go to
the vessels and drink from what the young men draw
And she fell on her face and bowed to the ground and said
to him, why have I found favor in your eyes that you should recognize me
since I am a foreigner? And Boaz answered and said to her, it has been fully
told to me all that you have done for your mother-in-law after
the death of your husband, and you left your father and your mother and the land of
your birth and went to a people whom you did not know
yesterday or the day before. May the Lord repay your work and may your reward be
complete from the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come
to take refuge. And she said, let me find favor

it was necessary to write here: and it was at the end of three days

for in Joshua it is written: and it was at the end of three days
and the officers passed through the midst of the camp, while
here it is written: and it was at the end of two full years and Pharaoh
is dreaming, and behold, he is standing by the Nile, and behold, from
the Nile there came up seven cows, beautiful in appearance
and fat of flesh, and they grazed in the reed grass. And behold, seven
other cows came up after them from the Nile
ugly in appearance and thin of flesh, and they stood beside
the cows on the bank of the Nile. And the cows
ugly in appearance and thin of flesh ate the seven
cows that were beautiful in appearance and fat; and Pharaoh awoke.
And he slept and dreamed a second time, and behold, seven
ears of grain grew on a single stalk, healthy and good.
And behold, seven ears of grain, thin and scorched by the east wind,
sprouted after them. And the thin ears of grain swallowed
the seven healthy and full ears of grain.
And Pharaoh awoke, and behold, it was a dream. And it was in the morning
that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called all the magicians of
Egypt and all its wise men, and Pharaoh told them
his dream, but there was no one to interpret them for Pharaoh. And spoke
the chief cupbearer to Pharaoh, saying: my sins
I mention today. Pharaoh was angry with his servants
and he put me in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, me
