the Army Commander has given his approval that lights shall be
allowed to be burnt in houses during the evenings of Friday
April 6th. and Saturday April 7th. till midnight as desired

soldiers of the Jewish persuasion who wish to attend the

It is of course not possible for the Commanders
of the troops to say how many will be able to attend, as it must
be taken into consideration that the Military forces are
still on active service.

thrashing them most unmercifully. Last week, one of the many
such like cases has been brought to my notice. A Jew was tied
up by the feet and pulled all along the streets, and of course
he got dangerously ill. Therefore, I pray that your Excellency
may give the necessary orders regarding this matter.

of the Chief Rabbi for facilities to be given to the members
of the Jewish Community to enable them to leave their
houses to attend the Synagogue for prayer between the hours
of 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. during the 40 days of the Cappour
Feast, but for that purpose only.
The celebration commences on August 19th 1917.

Civil Commissioner to inform your Most
Reverence that he had very kindly
approached His Excellency the High
Commissioner in Egypt on the subject.
Referring the case to the Cairo Police,
His Excellency the High Commissioner
replied that it was found out that Yahouda
Meir Shasha has a small grocery shop and
is not in a position to send financial
assistance to his family.
