PRODUCTION OF EVIDENCE
4. IF THE GOODS HAVE ALREADY BEEN ENTERED TO CUSTOMS you should ⟦illegible⟧ to your appli-
cation.
(a) The Exchange Control Copy of the Import License.
(b) The Exchange Control Copy of the Customs Entry (see Note 4).
(c) A copy of the settlement invoice (see Note 5).
These documents must be forwarded to a Licensed Dealer and are not returnable.
5. IF THE GOODS HAVE NOT YET BEEN ENTERED TO CUSTOMS the Import License must be handed
to a Licensed Dealer, who, provided the transfer is approved, will retain the original of
this form and hand you back the duplicate, IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENTRY you must
surrender this duplicate to the Licensed Dealer supported by the documents named in
(b) or (c) of the previous paragraph.
6. IF YOU HAVE A SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT under paragraph 12 of the Notice to Importers, the
letter from the Customs will indicate any necessary variations in the above procedure.
The applicant should note at the head of the Form "Special Arrangement approved
Control No. ⟦line⟧".
NOTES ON THE EVIDENCE
EXCHANGE CONTROL COPIES OF CUSTOMS ENTRIES
(i) At the time the Goods are entered to Customs additional copy of the entry
conspicuously marked in red ink "FOR EXCHANGE CONTROL PURPOSES
ONLY" must be presented. This copy will be certified and stamped by the Cus-
toms and returned to the Importer or his Agent on the passing of the Entry. Be-
fore production to the Licensed Dealer (see above) this copy must be endorsed at
the top with the number of the application (obtained from the duplicate Form
E 1, M or A. 1) against which the importation is to be written off.
(ii) Where application for transfer is made in respect of transit or transhipment
goods, a copy of the "Transhipment Entry" will form the Exchange Control copy
of the Customs Entry.
(iii) In the case of importations through the post for which the Customs do not require
Entry, the wrapper of the parcel with the sender's Customs declaration and duty
charge docket (if any) affixed, should be produced with the duplicate application in
lieu of an Exchange Control copy of the Customs Entry.
(iv) Applicants are warned that copies of Entries for Exchange Control purposes will
normally only be issued at the time the imported goods are entered with the Cus-
toms.
(v) Not more than one copy of an Entry for imported goods will be certified by the
Customs for Exchange Control purposes and no copy will be issued to any person
other than the importer or his agent who entered the goods.
(vi) Where the applicant is not the importer in whose name the Customs Entry is made,
he should obtain the Exchange Control copy of the Entry from the importer. If
however, such copy is not available by reason of the fact that the Entry covers
goods for more than one applicant, the applicant must ascertain and endorse on the
invoices particulars of the relative Customs Entries, viz. port of importation,
name of importing ship and date of report, number and date of Entry.
(vii) Where goods imported in more than one consignment are included in an invoice it
should be accompanied by the Exchange Control copies of such Entries as wholly
relate thereto, but in so far as the invoices may relate to part only of goods included
in a particular Entry or Entries, the invoice must be endorsed with particulars
(see previous paragraph) of the relative Customs Entry.
INVOICES: NOTES ON ADDITIONAL CHARGES
The Exchange Control copy of the Customs Entry is to be accompanied by a copy of
the invoice or statement on which settlement for the goods has been, or will be, made and
particulars of any charges payable in addition to the total amount shown on the invoice or
statement must be endorsed thereon in the following form:
Nature of Charge | To whom payable | Amount and currency in which payable
The particulars of charges as above may, if it is so desired, endorsed by the importer or
his agent on the back of the Exchange Control copy of the Entry, the endorsement being
signed and dated.

Greetings and Respect,
The management of Meir Elias Hospital had received sterilization materials and other items for use in the hospital during
the year 1950 from the shop of Down Bros and Mayer & Phelps in London, and the value of these materials reached 600 / 10 / 11 pounds as
noted from the attached copy of the aforementioned shop's letter. In view of the lack of necessary funds at that time to pay the
mentioned amount by the hospital management, its payment was delayed at the time. Based on the insistence of the mentioned shop to settle
its long-standing account, our administration has decided to settle it now. Therefore, please kindly inform the Ottoman Bank in
Baghdad to provide us with the required transfer. Respectfully yours.
