I had suggested in 1946, as an encouragement to the on-call doctor, that the consultation fees be divided between him and the treating physician if the patient is admitted after working hours and during the night. As for during working hours, the situation remains as is, i.e. dividing the consultation fees between the treating physician and the hospital, even if the patient is admitted by the treating physician's assistant for any reason. However, the committee's decision referred to above has deprived the treating physician of his share of the consultation. Therefore, please reconsider the aforementioned decision and we suggest amending it as follows. Noting that these fees were ⟦divided between the treating physician and the hospital for more than ten years⟧ 1 - Consultation fees are divided between the hospital and the treating physician if the patient is admitted during morning working hours. 2 - Consultation fees are divided between the treating physician and the on-call doctor if the patient is admitted in the afternoon or during the night. Noting that 115 patients were admitted to the hospital by on-call doctors and assistant unit heads during the year 1949.
