I have the honor to relate to Your Excellency the following :-
My late father had been following for over a year a case relating to an endowment (waqf) he heard had been established
abroad and whose services return to the institutions of the Jewish community in Baghdad. After his death <del>⟦illegible⟧</del> the
correspondence continued between me and the concerned parties in Singapore. Now that the case has reached its almost final stage, I submit
this letter to explain its details to Your Excellency.
-1 It appears that there are two endowments, the first was endowed by the late Abdullah Saleh Shukur and the second by
his late wife Flora A. Shukur. The condition of the endowers therein was that one-third of the yield from the endowment's
revenues should be spent on charitable institutions in Baghdad.
-2 The one-third of the yield under discussion belonging to Iraq is estimated at 460/- Dinars annually.
-3 There is accumulated yield from this endowment until the year 1949 with the trustee estimated at an amount of 1700/-
Dinars belonging to Iraq as well.
-4 The trustees for the implementation of the conditions of these two endowments are Messrs. Kelly L. Araky and Edwin S.
residing in Singapore, and they are responsible for implementing the conditions of the endowment, monitoring it, and directing the allocation as
they see fit.
-5 The most important part of the two endowments is the following clause regarding the direction of allocation :-
A - For the benefit of maintaining and assisting the sick and the poor needy among the members of the Jewish community.
B - Maintaining and assisting orphans from the poor of the Jewish community.
C - For religious education (Talmud Torah) for the young children of the Jewish community.
-6 The two trustees have relied on allocating the yield belonging to Iraq to three institutions, namely:

(1) Hospitals and (2) Orphanage Society and (3) Midrash Talmud Torah. The accumulated and annual proceeds
from them shall be distributed to the aforementioned institutions equally, in accordance with the conditions stated in the clauses of the endowment.

The two trustees have placed some conditions on the institutions concerned with the matter and requested me to contact them
and obtain their official approval of them so that they may be able to finish the allocation process and begin providing
the prescribed amounts to the specialized institutions.
In implementation of the trustees' wishes, I have written to each of the institutions covered by this revenue and informed them
of the required conditions, requesting them to take an official decision to that effect and send a copy of it to me directly so that
I may in turn send it to the trustees - according to their wish - to be kept by them and to take
the necessary action, and you will find with this letter copies of the aforementioned letters for information.
I hope that I have completed what my late father started and succeeded in meeting your good expectations, and I hope
that the mentioned institutions will benefit fully from this revenue, as I also wish them continued success
and prosperity.

I have been asked to inform you that as a result of a long communication between my late father and some
of his friends outside Iraq, an amount estimated at 150/- Dinars annually has recently been allocated
from the proceeds of the endowments of the late Abdullah Salih Shooker and his late wife Flora A. Shooker to your institution.
The two trustees of this endowment, Mr. Kelly S. and his brother Edwin S., residing
in Singapore, have stipulated that a brass plaque be placed over a bed in the ward for the poor, on which shall be engraved in both
Arabic and English the following:
"The necessary expenses for this bed are met from the proceeds of the endowment of the late Abdullah Salih Shooker
"who died in Singapore on 25 Adar, year 5702 Hebrew, corresponding to 14/3/1942,
"at the age of 93. May God cover him with His vast mercy."
" The maintenance and upkeep of this Bed is provided by the
" Charitable Fund of the late Mr. ABDULLAH S. SHOOKER deceased
" in Singapore on 25 Adar 5702 (14/3/1942) aged 93 . May His Soul
" rest in Peace Amen. "
And on another bed, a similar plaque shall be engraved with the following:

I have been requested to inform you that as a result of a long communication between my late father and some
of his friends outside Iraq, it has been initially decided to allocate an amount estimated at 150/- Dinars annually from the proceeds
of the two endowments of the late Abdullah Saleh Shooker and his late wife Flora A. Shooker to your institution. The
trustees of this endowment - Mr. Kelly S. and his brother Edwin S., residing in
Singapore - have stipulated that the following be observed:-
1- If these proceeds are spent in their entirety or in part on purchasing clothes and school books to be distributed to
orphans, a "badge" must be sewn onto the clothes and pasted onto the books, embroidered or printed with the words
"Endowment Proceeds of the Late Abdullah and Flora Shooker"
" A. & F. SHOOKER CHARITABLE FUND ".
2- Effort should be made as much as possible to distribute the clothes, books, and other materials whose expenses
are covered by these proceeds on the following two dates:-
A- On the date of 25 Adar Hebrew, which is the anniversary of the death of the late Abdullah Saleh Shooker
B- On the date of 3 Av Hebrew, which is the anniversary of the death of the late Flora, wife of Abdullah Saleh Shooker
Provided that after the distribution, the prayer for the dead (Kaddish and Hashkaba) be recited for the souls of the deceased.
Please kindly present the matter to your esteemed committee to take a formal decision regarding this and send
two copies of it to me for submission to the trustees - as per their request - so that they can commence the necessary
arrangements to send the mentioned allocations directly to your esteemed society.
On this occasion, I would also like to inform you that the trustees currently hold accumulated amounts
up to the year 1949 from these proceeds, your share of which is estimated at approximately 550/- Dinars, which will be sent
