Further to our circular No. 58 dated 18 / 12 / 1967
Based on what was stated in the Revolutionary Command Council statement No. 29 published in the Iraqi Gazette No. 1603
On 10 / 8 / 68, it was decided to amend the rates mentioned in Article 1 of the National Defense Tax Law
No. 172 of 1967, the text of which was transferred in the first paragraph of our above circular, as
follows:-
1) Persons whose nominal salaries or monthly wages are less than 18 Dinars are exempted from the tax
imposed on them under Article 1 of the law referred to above.
2) The tax rate imposed on persons whose nominal salaries or monthly wages are
18 Dinars or more is reduced to the following rates instead of the rates imposed under Article 1 of
the mentioned law.

18 Dinars or more and less than 50 Dinars | 1%
50 Dinars or more and less than 100 Dinars | 2.5%
100 Dinars or more up to 150 Dinars | 4.5%
More than 150 Dinars and less than 200 Dinars | 7%
200 Dinars or more and less than 240 Dinars | 10%
240 Dinars or more | 14%
3) Please note the above and act accordingly as of 1 / 8 / 1968.
