⟦This⟧ is to certify that Mr. ⟦Ely⟧ Israel Hay is one of the good stu-
⟦dents of⟧ this school. In May last year, 1954, he sat for the Final Exami-
⟦nation⟧ of the fourth form of this school having obtained the following
⟦marks during⟧ the whole year in the different subjects:

Previous to his joining this school in October, 1953, Mr. E. Hay stu-
died at the old established Alliance School in Baghdad which was united
with the Frank Iny School in October 1951. There he did seven years of
primary schooling and three years of intermediate work.

In June, 1950, he passed the Iraq State Baccalaureate Examinations
for Primary Education and was the third in his class. In May, 1951, he
sat successfully for the "Certificat d'Etudes Primaires" Examination,
conducted by the French Embassy in Baghdad and was the fifth among fifty
five candidates. In May, 1953, he passed the "Brevet Elementaire Exami-
nation also conducted by the French Embassy, Baghdad, and was the third
among 40 candidates representing the different schools of Baghdad. In
June of the same year, 1953, he sat successfully for the Iraq State
Baccalaureate Examination for Intermediate Education, winning first
place among 46 candidates from the Frank Iny School.

In addition to the above, Mr. E. Hay sat successfully in June, 1954,
for the London University General Certificate of Education Examinations
in Pure Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and French at the Ordinary level
and in Arabic at the Advanced level. In November last year, he sat also
for the same Examination in French at the Advanced level. and passed. In
June this year, Mr Hay will sit for English, and on passing, will be
eligible for entry to London University.

At the end of the current scholastic year, Mr. E. Hay will be eligi-
ble to sit for the Iraq State Baccalaureate Examination for Secondary
Education in which he stands a very good chance of passing.

While in school, Mr. Hay proved himself to be diligent and of good
character. He won a number of school prizes on different occasions.
During the ⟦current⟧ academic year, he was a member of the Ushering Commit-
tee and the staff of the French Bulletin Committee of the school. He is
intellectually quite fit. I recommend him for higher studies abroad
without reserve.

graciously planning to send some students to study abroad,
I most humbly and respectfully beg to apply as one of these
candidates. I would prefer my line of profession to be
civil Mechanical Engineering as my first choice, Electrical
Engineering as the second and Pharmacy as the third.

I was born in the year 1936 and am an Iraqi Subject
by birth - vide my 'Iraqi Non-denationalistion Certificate No. 1130
dated 12th March, 1952.

I am at present serving as an Accountant in the firm of
Mess. K. & E. M. Lawee, Ltd., Baghdad.

As for my qualifications, I beg leave to state that I
hold the following certificates:

1) The 'Iraq State Baccalaureate Exam. for Secondary
Education Certificate, June, 1953 with an average
of about 85%.

2) The University of London's G.C.E. Examinations for

Sat for the B.Comm. degree in June 1951 but passed in all except Economics, but due to the change in dgree of the B.Comm and its syllabus, I have not sat again.
