With the help of Heaven
The mouth of the tenth of Kislev
That everything a person brings in on that day as charity and acts of kindness
And this is the Name without interruption, and every single day he shall say this
To be secure lest his hands falter and his wealth diminish, and he shall be rich
Even for this he shall say this every single day with joy and a happy heart
And everything that comes out of his mouth from law and from justice shall not depart
From the law, for the Name, blessed be He, will prosper his way and he will be established
In everything, therefore he shall say in the morning and in the evening and at every time and season, and there shall be
Good fortune for him and blessing and all good, and there shall be peace and friendship and peace
Thousands of thousands and myriads, and He shall be a help to him and it shall be at every time and season
In the Name, blessed be He, His name is his, Lord of lords, King of kings
His name is King of kings, and He shall put in the heart, and there shall be peace and friendship

Adam
Interpretation of "And He called by his name"
"And He called to Moses, and the Lord spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting, saying: Speak to the children of
Israel and say to them: When any man of you brings an offering to the Lord, from the animals,
from the cattle and from the flock, you shall bring your offering." Behold, one must be precise
in this verse: why is it written "a man when he brings of you" and not written "a man
of you when he brings"? And furthermore, why is it written "Adam" (man) and not written "Ish" (man)? And furthermore,
why is it written "from the animals, from the cattle and from the flock"? And behold, it can be answered
according to what is written in the Holy Zohar, that the sacrifices correspond to
the sins that a person commits. And behold, there are three levels in a person, and they are
Nefesh (Soul), Ruach (Spirit), and Neshamah (Higher Soul). And behold, the Nefesh corresponds to the animal, and the Ruach
corresponds to the cattle, and the Neshamah corresponds to the flock. And for this reason it says
"a man when he brings of you," meaning if a person wants to sacrifice
himself to the Lord, he should sacrifice his Nefesh, Ruach, and Neshamah, which
correspond to the animal, the cattle, and the flock. And this is what the scripture says: "A man
when he brings of you an offering to the Lord, from the animals, from the cattle and from the flock."
And furthermore, why is it written "Adam" and not written "Ish"? And furthermore,
that which is written "a man when he brings of you." Behold, it is known that the sacrifices correspond to
the sins that a person commits. And behold, there are three levels in a person, and they are
Nefesh, Ruach, and Neshamah.
And behold, it can be answered according to what is written in the Holy Zohar, that the sacrifices
correspond to the sins that a person commits. And behold, there are three levels in a person,
and they are Nefesh, Ruach, and Neshamah.

Vayechi
And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years; and the days of Jacob, the years of his life, were seven
and forty and a hundred years. And the time drew near that Israel must die; and he called his son Joseph,
and said unto him: 'If now I have found favour in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal
kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt. But when I sleep with my fathers, thou shalt carry me
out of Egypt, and bury me in their burial-place.' And he said: 'I will do as thou hast said.' And he said: 'Swear
unto me.' And he swore unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed's head. And it came to pass after these
things, that one said to Joseph: 'Behold, thy father is sick.' And he took with him his two sons,
Manasseh and Ephraim. And one told Jacob, and said: 'Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee';
and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed. And Jacob said unto Joseph: 'God Almighty appeared
unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
and said unto me: Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a company of peoples; and will give this land
to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession. And now thy two sons, who were born unto thee in the land
of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, even as Reuben and Simeon,
shall be mine. And thy issue, that thou begettest after them, shall be thine; they shall be called after the name of their brethren
in their inheritance. And as for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died unto me in the land of Canaan in the way, when there was
still some way to come unto Ephrath; and I buried her there in the way to Ephrath—the same is Bethlehem.'
And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said: 'Who are these?' And Joseph said unto his father:
'They are my sons, whom God hath given me here.' And he said: 'Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.'
Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed
them, and embraced them. And Israel said unto Joseph: 'I had not thought to see thy face;
and, lo, God hath let me see thy seed also.' And Joseph brought them out from between
his knees; and he bowed himself with his face to the earth. And Joseph took them both, Ephraim
in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.
And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his
left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the first-born. And he blessed
Joseph, and said: 'The God before whom my fathers Abraham
and Isaac did walk, the God who hath been my shepherd all my life long unto this day, the angel who hath redeemed
me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named in them, and the name of my fathers
Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.' And when Joseph saw that
his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him; and he held up his father's hand, to remove
it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head. And Joseph said unto his father:
'Not so, my father; for this is the first-born; put thy right hand upon his head.' And his father refused,
and said: 'I know it, my son, I know it; he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; howbeit
his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.' And he blessed them that
day, saying: 'By thee shall Israel bless, saying: God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh';
and he set Ephraim before Manasseh. And Israel said unto Joseph: 'Behold, I die;
but God shall be with you, and bring you back unto the land of your fathers. Moreover I have given to thee
one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.'
And Jacob called unto his sons, and said: 'Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall
you in the end of days. Assemble yourselves, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel
your father. Reuben, thou art my first-born, my might, and the first-fruits of my strength; the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power.
Unstable as water, have not thou the excellency; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it—he went up to my couch.
Simeon and Levi are brethren; weapons of violence their kinship. Let not
my soul come into their council; unto their assembly let my glory not be united; for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they houghed
an ox. Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce, and their wrath, for it was cruel; I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them
in Israel.
Judah, thee shall thy brethren praise; thy hand shall be on the neck of thine enemies; thy father's sons shall bow down before thee.
Judah is a lion's whelp; from the prey, my son, thou art gone up. He stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as a lioness;
who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until Shiloh come;

it is written "And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet
into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people" (page 252 side a)
Rather, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai said: Our father Jacob
did not die, peace be upon him, but he is alive and exists in his body and in his soul
In his body, what is the reason? As it is written "And he gathered up his feet into the bed"
death is not written, but rather "and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people"
Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai said: Our father Jacob did not die, peace be upon him,
in his body and in his soul etc. End of quote.

Regarding the Passover prayer
Mentioned we are in this blessed year
As it was in ancient times in this year
Five great sages in the world, and they
are those of the world, and they are Sage Rabbi Eliezer
and Rabbi Joshua and Rabbi Eleazar ben Azariah
and Rabbi Akiva and Rabbi Tarfon, and they were
sitting in Bnei Brak on this blessed night
and they were reading and writing
about the story of the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt
which was on this night until
morning came
They were the ones who were reading on this night until
morning came and their students came and said to them
Our masters, the time has arrived for the morning recitation of the Shema
At the beginning of Passover
This blessed night in which we name
is the one in which the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt occurred
and they were reading and writing on this night
blessed, and this night is the blessed one in which
the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt occurred and they were reading
and writing on this night until morning came and their
students came and said to them: Our masters, the time has arrived for the morning recitation of the Shema
Rabbi Eleazar ben Azariah said: Behold, I am like a seventy-year-old man, yet I have not merited
that the Exodus from Egypt be mentioned at night until Ben Zoma expounded it, as it is said:
"So that you may remember the day of your departure from the land of Egypt all the days of your life."
"The days of your life" refers to the days; "all the days of your life" refers to the nights. But the Sages say:
"The days of your life" refers to this world; "all the days of your life" is to include the days of the Messiah.
Blessed is the Omnipresent, Blessed is He; Blessed is He who gave the Torah to His people Israel,
Blessed is He. The Torah spoke corresponding to four sons: one wise,
one wicked, one simple, and one who does not know how to ask.
What does the wise son say? "What are the testimonies, the statutes, and the ordinances
which the Lord our God has commanded you?" And you, too, shall tell him
according to the laws of Passover: one may not eat any dessert after the Passover offering.
What does the wicked son say? "What is this service to you?" To you,
and not to him. And since he excluded himself from the collective, he denied the fundamental principle.
And you, too, set his teeth on edge and say to him: "Because of this, the Lord did
for me when I went out of Egypt." For me, and not for him; had he been there,
he would not have been redeemed. What does the simple son say? "What is this?" And you shall say
to him: "With a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, from the house of bondage."
And as for the one who does not know how to ask, you must open for him, as it is said: "And you shall tell
your son on that day, saying: 'Because of this, the Lord did for me
when I went out of Egypt.'" One might think from the first of the month; therefore the verse says,
"On that day." If "on that day," one might think while it is still day;
therefore the verse says, "Because of this." "Because of this" I only said
at the time when matzah and bitter herbs are placed before you.
In the beginning, our ancestors were idol worshippers,
but now the Omnipresent has brought us close to His service.

30th of Kislev
And Joseph said to them on the third day, this do and live, for
I fear God. And it can be said that behold it is known that the Tzadik
influences and gives to the world the aspect of mercy and grace, and this is
the third, a hint to the attribute of Tiferet which is the attribute of mercy, and this is
the third day, meaning the third aspect which is mercy and grace,
do and live, meaning through this you can live, and this is do and live.
But the wicked are the opposite of this, and this is I fear God -
meaning the attribute of judgment which is called Elohim, I fear it so that
it shall not come upon you, God forbid, and this is I fear God, and understand this.
Or it may be said, and Joseph said to them on the third day, this do
and live, for I fear God. Meaning that behold it is known that the Tzadik
is the aspect of Yesod and he is the aspect of the third day which is
the attribute of mercy, and this is the third day, meaning the aspect of the
third day which is mercy and grace, this do and live, meaning through this
you can live, and this is do and live, but the wicked

Yesod, and this is 'Then Judah came near to him', meaning the aspect of Malchut
which is Judah approached the Yesod which is Joseph, and this is
'Then Judah came near to him', meaning the aspect of Malchut approached the Yesod
in order to draw down abundance, and this is 'and he said, Oh my lord, let your servant

Explanation of Parshat Vayechi
And the days of Jacob, the years of his life, were seven years and forty and a hundred years
And our Sages of blessed memory said, why is this portion closed? Because once Jacob our father
passed away, the eyes and hearts of Israel were closed from the trouble of the enslavement that they began
to enslave them. And it must be understood what was meant by saying that once Jacob passed away, their eyes
and hearts were closed, etc., for is there not between the passing of Jacob and the descent to Egypt
one hundred and twenty years, and how could it be said that once he passed away they were closed, etc.? And also
regarding what was said "from the trouble of the enslavement that they began to enslave them," surely the
enslavement did not begin until after the death of all the tribes, as it is written: "And Joseph died
and all his brothers and all that generation," and afterwards "And there arose a new king, etc. and the
Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor." And our Sages of blessed memory said, as long as
one of the tribes was alive, the enslavement did not begin; if so, how could it be said
that once Jacob passed away they were closed, etc., from the trouble of the enslavement that they began
to enslave them? Furthermore, it must be understood why it says ⟦seven⟧ years and forty and a hundred
years; why did it put seven years before the hundred and forty? Furthermore, it must be
understood what is written: "And the days of Israel drew near to die, and he called for his son, for Joseph,
and said to him: If now I have found favor in your eyes, put now your hand under
my thigh and deal with me in kindness and truth; please do not bury me in Egypt.
And I will sleep with my fathers, and you shall carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place."
And he said, "I will do according to your word." And he said, "Swear to me," and he swore to him,
and Israel prostrated himself upon the head of the bed.
And behold, truly it must be understood why he made him swear, for was Joseph not a king
with the power to do as he wished? And also, why did he say to him "kindness and truth"? And also
what was said, "And I will sleep with my fathers and you shall carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place,"
behold, it is known that his fathers Abraham and Isaac are buried there, and what
need is there to say "and you shall carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place"?
And it seems that, behold, our Sages of blessed memory said that at the time Jacob descended to Egypt
he brought cedars with him and planted them in Egypt, and said to his sons: These are
the cedars that you shall carry with you when you leave Egypt to build
the Tabernacle from them. And it must be understood why he burdened them to carry
them from Egypt, for surely they could have purchased them there at that
time when they were leaving Egypt. And also why did he plant them
specifically in Egypt? But the matter is that, behold, it is known that Israel
were in the Egyptian exile in order to clarify the sparks of holiness that were
there within the husks.

With the help of Heaven
There was a story about one of the pious men who was accustomed
every single day as he was going to the synagogue and he would
pass by the entrance of the house of one of the wealthy men and he would
say: Blessed is He, our God, who created us for His glory and separated us
from those who stray, and gave us the Torah of truth and eternal life implanted
within us. And that wealthy man would hear his words
every single day and he would wonder in his heart and say:
How is this one different from me, for I am rich and he is poor,
and he has such great joy, while I do not have joy
like him? And every single day he would hear his words
and would wonder in his heart until one day he called to that
pious man and said to him: I beg of you, tell me
what is this that you say every day at the entrance of my house,
and you are in great joy? For what do you have that you are
so happy? The pious man said to him: My lord the king,
I say: Blessed is He, our God, who created us for His glory
and separated us from those who stray, and gave us the Torah of truth
and eternal life implanted within us. And is there a joy greater
than this, that we are the servants and children of the King of kings,
the Holy One, blessed be He, who created heaven and earth and all their host,
and He chose us from all the nations and gave us the Torah of
truth and eternal life implanted within us? And is there a joy
greater than this? The wealthy man said to him: Fortunate are you to have merited
this. The pious man said to him: And do you not say
so? The wealthy man said to him: And what shall I say
otherwise?
The Sages, of blessed memory, said regarding one of the pious men
who was constantly engaged in the Torah:
Explanation of the Mishnah of a Pious Man
The Sages, of blessed memory, said: There was a story about one of
the pious men who was constantly engaged in the Torah and he was
extremely poor and had nothing to eat, and he would pray
before the Name, may He be blessed, and said: Master of the Universe, You
sustained Adam the first man, and Noah and his sons, and Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob, and all of Israel in the desert from
the heavens, and You bestowed upon them all Your goodness and kindness; and
am I not Your servant, and I engage in Your Torah day and night?
Why will You not give me my livelihood as You gave to them?
Immediately the mercies of the Holy One, blessed be He, were stirred for him,
and He sent him Elijah the Prophet, of good memory, and said to him:
What do you request? He said to him: Livelihood. Elijah
the Prophet, of good memory, said to him: Go to such-and-such a place and you will find
there a certain precious stone; take it and sell it,
and you shall be sustained by it all the days of your life. That pious man went
and found that stone and sold it for a high price,
and he was sustained by it all the days of his life and he engaged
in the Torah.
A story of a certain pious man who had one son and he was
constantly engaged in the Torah and was extremely poor.
The son said to his father: Father, I beg of you, give me permission,
I will go to another country, perhaps the Name will have mercy on me
and give me a livelihood. His father said to him: Go in peace.

With God's help
And so it shall be every single day, bowing before the king and every
word that the king says shall be heard and all the king's commandments
shall be done and there shall be peace in the whole world and there shall be peace
in every single land and there shall be peace
And the king said to them, stay here and eat and drink and be
In the memory of God
And Joseph said to them, do not be afraid, for God sent me before you
to preserve life <del>⟦illegible⟧</del> for these two years the famine has been in the land and there are yet five
years in which there shall be neither plowing nor harvest. And God sent me before you to preserve for you
a remnant in the earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you
who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord
of all his house, and ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. Hurry and go up to my father
and say to him, 'Thus says your son Joseph: God has made me lord of all
Egypt; come down to me, do not delay. And you shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near
to me, you and your children and your children's children, and your flocks and your herds and all that you have. And I will provide for
you there, for there are yet five years of famine, lest you and your household
and all that you have come to poverty.' And behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my
mouth that speaks to you. And you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt and of
all that you have seen; and you shall hurry and bring my father down here. And he fell upon
his brother Benjamin's neck and wept, and Benjamin wept upon his neck. And he kissed all
his brothers and wept upon them; and after that his brothers talked with him. And the report was heard in
Pharaoh's house, saying, 'Joseph's brothers have come.' And it pleased Pharaoh well, and
his servants. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, 'Say to your brothers, "Do this: load
your beasts and go, enter the land of Canaan. And take your father and
your households and come to me; and I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you shall eat
the fat of the land." And you are commanded, "Do this: take for yourselves from the land of
Egypt wagons for your little ones and for your wives, and bring your father and come.
Also do not concern yourselves with your goods, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours."'
And the children of Israel did so; and Joseph gave them wagons according to the command of Pharaoh,
and gave them provisions for the journey. To all of them he gave, to each man, changes of garments;
but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of garments.
And to his father he sent as follows: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt,
and ten female donkeys loaded with grain and bread and food for his father for the journey.
So he sent his brothers away, and they departed; and he said to them, 'Do not quarrel on the way.'
And they went up out of Egypt and came to the land of Canaan to Jacob their father. And they told him,
saying, 'Joseph is still alive, and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt.' And his heart fainted,
for he did not believe them. But when they told him all the words of Joseph which
he had said to them, and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him,
the spirit of Jacob their father revived. And Israel said, 'It is enough; Joseph my son is still alive.
I will go and see him before I die.' So Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came
to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.
In the memory of God
And God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, 'Jacob, Jacob.'
And he said, 'Here I am.' And He said, 'I am God, the God of your father; do not fear
to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there. I will go down with you
to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will put his hand on your eyes.'
Then Jacob arose from Beersheba; and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father,
their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
And they took their livestock and their goods, which they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and came
to Egypt, Jacob and all his descendants with him. His sons and his sons' sons with him, his daughters
and his sons' daughters and all his descendants he brought with him to Egypt.
In the memory of God
In this world a person is born and dies, and builds and destroys, and plants and uproots,
and drinks and thirsts, and hungers and is satisfied, and eats and drinks, and rejoices and grieves,
and laughs and cries, and lives and dies, and earns and becomes rich, and becomes poor and becomes proud,
and is humbled and is honored and is disgraced, and is elevated and is lowered, and is healed,
and becomes ill, and is renewed and grows old, and moves away and draws near, and falls in love,
and is hated and is appeased and becomes angry, and is reconciled and regrets and is comforted.

Or is the ⟦the⟧ Torah, the teacher, lacking and we do not know what to do
for it is written "and he went with them". And also that Moses said to them
I am lacking and I do not know what to do, is ⟦it⟧ not a wonder
immense, and especially since he said to them "stand and I will hear what He commands"
as it is said "stand and I will hear etc." and if Moses did not know now
why did he say to them "stand and I will hear. What the Lord will command you"
which in prophecy is explained, he would say to them that he does not know
for the Torah was given as a gift, and how could he say to them "stand
and I will hear", and also regarding King Solomon, peace be upon him, it is said "and he was wiser
than all men", and how is Moses our teacher, peace be upon him, lacking and does not know?
Furthermore, it is difficult, for in the Sifrei it is written that the portion of inheritance was worthy
to be written by Moses, but the daughters of Zelophehad merited it
and it was brought about through them, and likewise the portion of the wood-gatherer and the portion
of the blasphemer, and also the Second Passover, and how did Moses say that he does not know?
And behold, Moses our teacher, peace be upon him, stood on the mountain forty days
and forty nights, and it is written of them "and the Lord taught me the statutes
and the ordinances", and how did Moses say that he does not know?
And behold it is written "and the Lord taught me the statutes and the ordinances"
and how did Moses say that he does not know, and how was the law
hidden from him?
And it can be answered and said, how could Moses say that he does not know?
Rather, the Holy One, Blessed be He, wanted to grant merit to those who merited to have it written
through them, and also because Moses our teacher, peace be upon him, wanted to show
great humility, to say that he does not know, and also because Moses
our teacher, peace be upon him, wanted to show Israel that he does not know
except what the Holy One, Blessed be He, tells him, and he does not speak of his own accord
but only what the Holy One, Blessed be He, tells him, and this is what Moses said
"stand and I will hear what the Lord will command you".
Further regarding the aforementioned matter
And it can be said that this law was known to Moses, but
he was in doubt if Moses our teacher, peace be upon him, wanted to show
great humility, to say that he does not know, and also Moses our teacher
peace be upon him, wanted to show Israel that he does not know except what
the Holy One, Blessed be He, tells him, and he does not speak of his own accord, and how did Moses say
that he does not know? And behold it is written "and the Lord taught me the statutes
and the ordinances", and how did Moses say that he does not know?
And behold it is written "and the Lord taught me the statutes and the ordinances"
and how did Moses say that he does not know, and how was the law
hidden from him, and how did Moses say that he does not know? And behold it is written
"and the Lord taught me the statutes and the ordinances"
