ARITHMETIC:  Answer all three questions:

1.   (a) Express  £2  7s  5¾d as a decimal of £ 1, correct to 3 places.
(6½ marks)
(b) Express the first quantity as decimal of the second
i-    3000 oz.  ;   1 cwt.                  (3 marks)
ii-   4 ch.  18 yd.   2 ft.  3 in. ;  1 ch.   (3 marks)

2.   Water is pouring into a cylindrical tank of diameter 20 ft. at the
rate of 4000 gallons per minute.  Find, to the nearest inch, the rise
of water level per minute  ( Take 1 cu.ft = 6¼ gallons ).
(12½ marks)

3.   A train travels for 3 miles at an average speed of 36 miles per hour,
and travels the next 3 miles at an average speed of 45 miles per hour.
What is its average speed for the whole six miles ?

GEOMETRY:  Answer only two.

4.   (a) The angle which an arc of a circle subtends at the centre is
double that which it subtends at any point on the remaining
part of the circumference. Prove this theorem.   ⟦(6 marks)⟧
(b) AB, XY are parallel chords of a circle,  AY cuts BX at C; prove
that OX = OY.

5.   (a) If two tangents are drawn to a circle from an external point,
prove that these two tangents are equal.
(6 marks)
(b) ABC is a triangle inscribed in a circle, BE, CF are altitudes
of triangle ABC;  prove that EF is parallel to the tangent at A.

6.   In an obtuse - angled triangle, the square ⟦on the side⟧ opposite the
⟦obtuse angle⟧ is equal to the sum of the squares on the sides contain-
ing it plus twice the rectangle contained by one of those sides and
the projection on it of the other.  Prove this theorem.

10. A and B start from the same place walking at different rates;
when A has walked 15 miles B doubles his pace, and 6 hours later

س١ : أوجد ناتج ما يأتي :
١ ١/٤ + ٤/٩ ÷ ١٠/٦٣ × ١/٤

س٢ : عامل عنده صندوق للتوفير فكان كل يوم يشتغل فيه يضع في الصندوق ٥٠٠ فلسا
وفي كل يوم ينقطع عن العمل يأخذ من هذا الصندوق ٤٠٠ فلسا وبعد مدة شهر كامل
٣٠ يوما وجد في الصندوق ١٠٥٠٠٠٠ دينارا فكم يوما اشتغل خلال هذا الشهر .

س٣ : اشترى سالم وسمير وسلمان ثلاث قطع من القماش بمبلغ ٣٨٧٠٠ دينارا فأخذ سالم
قطعة طولها ٣٥ر٤ مترا وعرضها ٨٠ر٠ مترا واخذ سمير قطعة طولها (٤) أمتار
وعرضها ٩٠ر٠ مترا اما قطعة سلمان فكان طولها ٣٥ر٧ مترا وعرضها مترا واحدا
فما مقدار ما يجب ان يدفعه كل منهم من الثمن .

س٤ : تعهد مقاول ان يعبد طريقا طوله ٦ كيلومترا في مدة ١٨٠ يوما وعين لذلك ٦٠٠ عاملا
ولكنه وجد ان هؤلاء العمال تمكنوا من تعبيد جزء طوله ٢٤ كيلومترا في مدة ٦٠ يوما
فما عدد العمال الذين يجب ان يضيفهم الى عماله السابقين ليتمكنوا من انجاز العمل في
الوقت المعين .

س٥ : اشترى وليد سيارة بمبلغ ١٢٠٠ دينارا وعندما باعها ربح ٢٥٪ من قيمة الشراء ثم اودع
المبلغ الذي قبضه من المشتري في مصرف بسعر ٤٪ فكم تصبح الجملة بعد سنتين وخمسة
اشهر وثلاثة ايام .

س٦ : اذا كانت كلفة صبغ جوانب برميل على شكل متوازي المستطيلات تساوي ١٨٠٠٠ دينارا
وكان ارتفاعه يساوي ٣ أمتار واجرة صبغ المتر المربع الواحد تساوي ٢٥٠ فلسا وطول
قاعدته يساوي ضعف عرضها فما طول كل من طولها وعرضها .
