these miserable people according to his ability and whatever his position may be.
My dear children! Remember that your afflicted brothers are waiting for your relief and help just as the thirsty earth waits for raindrops. Remember
that the passage of time only increases their pain, sadness, hunger, nakedness, poverty, and want. Remember that winter is at the door and that thousands of children,
the elderly, orphans, and widows are still sleeping on the ground and covering themselves with the sky after losing all the worldly possessions they owned. Remember that
these people still pin great hopes on your zeal, mercy, jealousy, and compassion. So will you disappoint this hope, and leave them between the fangs
of time, killed by hunger, preyed upon by cold, and perished by nakedness?
Is it not a shame that conscious ears are deaf to the cries of pain and calls for help emanating from the chests of our afflicted brothers? Is it not
a cause for sadness and pain that we find among some of those whom God has blessed with wealth and ease who do not care about the fate of their brothers and are still reluctant
to answer the call of tormented humanity and respond to the call of sacred duty, which is a debt on their necks and the necks of their children forever? So how can we ask
mercy from God if we do not show mercy to these afflicted people, alleviate their misfortune, and satisfy their need even with a small portion?
My dear children! This is the time for zeal and this is the touchstone of humanity. This is the opportunity to earn reward and merit. So do not waste it.
Respond to the call of conscience. Answer the caller of the living conscience. And give generously when the members of the specialized committees visit you. Always remember the eyes
directed towards your mercy after the mercy of God and the patient hearts towards your conscience and zeal. So do not disappoint their hope and do not turn them away in despair.
I ask the Almighty to bring mercy and generosity into your hearts and to maintain for you comfort and tranquility under the shadow of this sacred homeland and the care
of its watchful government.

General Appeal
Regarding the subscription for the relief of the victims of the June 1-2, 1941 incident
My sons!
I see it as one of my most special duties to publish this appeal to the honorable public for the second time, drawing attention in particular to some
points that may have been hidden from many regarding the core of living feeling toward the people of their homeland and their brothers in suffering humanity.
My sons! I do not see myself in need of reminding you of the great catastrophe and the heavy misfortune that befell a large number of the children of our community as a result of
the unfortunate events that passed over them on June 1/2 last. And now, after weeks have passed upon weeks since this painful tragedy,
is it not the duty of every one of us to ask what has happened to hundreds of families and the thousands of our afflicted brothers? Is it not our duty to
know the fate of those who were afflicted in their sources of livelihood and means of living, and the fate of their children who are starving and have no helper
except the mercy of God, which encompasses everything in this existence?
The report submitted by the specialized relief committee after it studied the project and scrutinized the situation of three thousand afflicted families is something that calls for
the utmost attention and stirs sadness and pain in sensitive hearts. The amounts collected from people of mercy and chivalry, and which are hoped to be collected in the near
future, do not contain enough to cover the simplest needs of these afflicted families or return the wheel of their economic life to its course, even in an
elementary way, despite the efforts made by the specialized committees and their successive visits to people of wealth and prosperity. So how can we remedy the living
of these afflicted families and restore productive work to hundreds of shops that were a constant source for supporting these thousands of our afflicted brothers?
My sons! Let everyone hold ⟦themselves⟧ accountable before their conscience and heart, and let them imagine their situation if they were - God ⟦forbid⟧ - among those who were struck by
⟦those⟧ disasters. ⟦If their⟧ living ⟦conscience⟧ ⟦on their salvation⟧ ⟦...⟧ ⟦mentioned it in a⟧ tangible and practical ⟦way⟧, by extending a helping hand to
