Excellency, the Honorable Chairman of the Schools Committee.
Greetings;
I am the student Samir Shaul Hakham Sassoon
First - I have completed the fifth year of preparatory school - Scientific Branch - at Baghdad College this summer;
and I was among the outstanding students in my class.
Second - I also participated in the recent ministerial examination for preparatory studies, and although the results have not yet appeared
I am confident of passing this examination.
Third - I have previously participated in the entrance examinations for American universities
SAT AND ACHIEVEMENT TESTS
and I obtained good scores in these examinations.
Finally, I have obtained the necessary acceptance to enroll in one of the colleges in London next September
to attend one preparatory year and participate in the G.C.E. examinations at the advanced level
( ADVANCED LEVEL ) in preparation for my entry into one of the universities in England.
This is in view of my strong desire to complete my higher studies in England and my inability to complete that
at my own expense; I hope your esteemed committee will consider granting me the necessary study expenses to obtain
a ( B.Sc. ) degree in Engineering, similar to what was arranged in previous years where
some students were sent to study at the expense of the Community Administration.
Thank you, sir.
