View interactive document pageThese are archival documents from the Baghdadi Jewish community. There is correspondence from the 1930s-1940s between the Jewish Lay Council, Jewish Hospitals Committee and various school administrations. Other documents include court cases, requests for financial help, and deeds and property records owned by the Baghdadi Jewish community. There are also architectural drawing plans, contracts, and correspondence discussing price negotiations. This is followed by student files from the 1960s, containing individual student records, exam scores, student certifications, admissions forms, letters of recommendation, photographs, and correspondence regarding student affairs. There is a printed booklet notating a teachers’ school service record from 1944. There are collections of receipts from the Administrative Committee for Iraqi Jews, the South British Insurance Company, the Rafidain Insurance Company, various local vendors and taxi services, pharmacies, utilities, as well as rosters of patient information and correspondence from the Ministry of Culture of Iranian Schools in Iraq.

After greetings
Based on the approval of the Administrative Committee of the community, I have appointed Your Excellency, in addition to your position, in all expropriation lawsuits for the Meir Elias Hospital for all its plots, facilities, buildings, and annexes, provided that you follow them up administratively and judicially and attend the competent departments and courts of all levels and types to settle the mentioned expropriation cases by legal means and according to the Expropriation Law. We agree to pay legal fees to Your Excellency as follows:
1 - Four thousand dinars shall be paid in the event that you cancel the expropriation of the mentioned hospital from its foundation.
2 - Four thousand dinars shall be paid in the event that you replace the expropriation with a long-term lease for a period of thirty years and an annual rent of no less than seven thousand dinars. This rent may be increased appropriately with the approval of the Administrative Committee if you are able to raise the annual rent above nine thousand dinars.
3 - In the event that it is not possible to cancel the expropriation or replace it with a long-term lease, the mentioned lawsuits shall be followed up on the basis of increasing the expropriation compensation. In this case, a lump sum fee of one thousand two hundred and fifty dinars shall be paid in two installments, advance and deferred. However, if you are able to increase the expropriation compensation by more than 25% of the initial estimates, a percentage (in addition to the lump sum fee) of 7% shall be paid on what exceeds 25% of the initial estimates, provided that this additional fee is deducted from the expropriation compensations.
