This information is sent before the issue of Certificates and the University reserves the right to correct it. The document is not a Certificate and must not be regarded as such. No further information will be issued by the University : the decisions of the Examiners, which have been reached after careful consideration, are final. The grades awarded are to be interpreted as follows : Grades A, B, C, D, E and O at Ordinary level and A, B, C, D and E at Advanced level are grades of pass in descending order of merit. Grade O at Advanced level gives a compensatory Ordinary level pass. Grade F (Advanced level) and F, G, H (Ordinary level) denote failure. An 'X' indicates absence from the examination in a subject. In French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish two grades are given. The first represents the result obtained in the subject as a whole including the oral test. On the right of this appears the grade given in the oral examination only. At the Advanced level the oral grades are A, B, C, D, E, O and F, and at the Ordinary level are A, B, C and F. Failure (F) in the oral test does not necessarily indicate failure in the subject as a whole. There are no oral tests in these languages in the Overseas examination.
