Minister of Education
Copy of the letter
The Taurus Train Conference held in Istanbul between August 29 and September 3 decided to grant male
and female students traveling individually outside Iraq a reduction of 20% of the travel fares in the class intended for travel.
Therefore, please circulate this to all schools and colleges for the students' information and to follow the following conditions to enjoy
this privilege. ⟦line⟧
1- Tickets issued to students when traveling individually are organized with a 20% reduction and calculated as follows:
For one-way travel - the reduction is calculated on the value of the one-way ticket only according to the full tariff price.
" and return - the reduction is calculated on the double value of the one-way ticket according to the full tariff price.
2- This reduction cannot be combined with the 50% reduction granted to children between the ages of four
and ten years, nor with any other reduction from which the traveler might benefit.
3- The issuance of these tickets is subject to the student presenting to the officials at the travel station a certificate in two copies
issued by the director of the educational institution to which the student belongs. The government education authorities
must certify this certificate. Certificates issued by educational institutions
located in a foreign country must be certified by the diplomatic representative or consul of that country accredited to the country
where the travel station is located.
4- The student must keep a copy of the aforementioned certificate and must present it to the officials supervising
the trains - while the other copy is kept by the travel station.
5- Officials supervising the trains may request at any time the presentation of a passport or any
other document that takes its place in order to verify the identity of the travel ticket holder.
6- The validity period for one-way travel tickets is limited to one month and return tickets to two months from the date of issuance.
We request that you inform us of the notification of all school and college administrations of this privilege so that it may be applied as of 1 / 4 / 1956.
