Greetings,
I would like to present to your Excellency that some benefactors are accustomed to offering to the Menashi Saleh Shelter located near
Al-Shorja, which contains more than a thousand people, their vows of sacrifices from time to time for the purpose of feeding them. And when
the shelter administration sees that the sacrifices offered by these benefactors are not sufficient for all the poor people in it, it is forced
⟦...⟧ to purchase meat in cash from the donations it receives from the charitable people who provide money instead of sacrifices.
Therefore, we request that you issue your orders to the supervisor of the Shorja Consumption Center to consider what is slaughtered of sheep in this shelter
as not subject to consumption fees, out of a desire to help these poor people.

His Excellency the Honorable Minister of Interior
Presented to Your Excellency
Sir
We, the undersigned residents of Nasiriyah, our families had completed the renunciation of their citizenships
in Nasiriyah a long time ago. When they came to Baghdad two months ago to receive their passports,
the Directorate of Travel and Nationality Police informed them to reside in the Rachel Shahmoon School. Upon our families'
follow-up to finalize the process, the Director of Travel Police informed them that they are not allowed to travel or leave Iraq
with their children unless the citizenship renunciation process for their husbands is completed, noting that the Nasiriyah police conducted
the renunciation process without informing our families of the necessity of renouncing the husbands' citizenship. This is something we
were ignorant of and is known only to those in authority. Consequently, we have remained in Baghdad all this time in the aforementioned
school. Since we are without work and without a source of livelihood or income after the renunciation process of our
citizenships was conducted, and now we have not received any travel order to leave Iraq, every time we check with the Directorate of Travel
and Nationality Police, they inform us that our case is still with Your Excellency. Sir, our situation has reached an
unbearable level, and the pen may fail to depict that miserable condition and the bitter days passing over us and our
children. What will happen when winter approaches, knowing that the administration of the aforementioned school has warned us of the necessity
to leave the school eight days from this date? We do not know to whom to turn, which will force us to
live in the streets as we have no shelter, unless the Jewish community extends a helping hand and finds us
shelter and provides for our living.
Sir, your magnanimity refuses to let our case remain unresolved and for us and our families to remain without shelter and without
a provider. Therefore, we have come with this petition, pleading with Your Excellency to be so kind as to look upon our case with
sympathy by issuing your order to complete our transaction so that we can travel and leave Iraq, as expected
from your noble person.

His Excellency the President of the Jewish Community in Iraq, Respected
After greetings and respect
My dear sir, we are a group of soldiers whose citizenship has been revoked and our numbers
are between five thousand and eight thousand. We beg of your Excellency
to clarify our cases inside the Saad camp in Baqubah
that racism among the soldiers in our school is very, very widespread and the injustice
is more than necessary. Following this, the work has piled up on us
and we number about ten soldiers, among them two soldiers in prison
and eight others inside the company, and the rest are people who
were arrested by the military police in our neighborhoods for a long time ⟦included⟧
⟦by crossing out⟧ the tax, and it is not us, meaning we were born in 1921, but
from the births of 920 - 927 - 926 - 921 / 922 also
and our names are as follows
1- Nahum Daoud - this soldier is very poor, even we
the soldiers help him among ourselves, and they arrested him
while he was returning to his home, and as soon as they arrested him, they sent him immediately
to prison, and his case is as follows: he was born in 926 and
as soon as he was sent to Al-Washash, he fled without receiving military
clothes, and he works in the horse racing track with him, his mother and his brother

Page 443

②
And the soldier Ibrahim Yaqub Ishaq: a soldier born in <del>⟦illegible⟧</del> 1929
⟦When⟧ they arrested him, his birth year was 1921 and his drop-out number
5296 and he is now inside the camp
And the other, Eliyahu Eliya: the soldier in the camp, they arrested him while he was
at the beginning of his profession in his remains, and he is married with a son and a daughter
his drop-out number is 7121.
And Hasil Menashi Eliyahu, his number is 10677, also inside the company
And we all request of your Excellency that you look into our case
this, because all the soldiers who were in the camp have been discharged and
none remain except us, and the work is accumulated upon us very, very much, and this
is a duty upon us, but rather dustiness and hatred are spread among us, and from those who
we do not have an order for, we pay a substitute because our case above has been witnessed
And we are from the southern residents, until this day we have not gone down to Baghdad
And the punishment upon us is detention, but we seek mercy from your Excellency because
we have no one to help us but you, I hope you will have mercy on us in this case of ours, and to you
thanks, and may you remain.
The petitioner for you, the mercy-seekers

And his number in the drop-out list is 10615
The one younger than him, then they took him out with him and after that they drove him to prison
And from the date 14-8-1950 until now they have not brought him to any court
And he remains in prison and his crime is being solitary without documents or debt
And the other: Ibrahim Khadouri, and he was born in 1927, he was arrested during
his wandering near the Al-Shatoub Institute and they drove him while he was attending a school
Ali Amin Sura, and his number in the drop-out list is 7292 and he is in the third
intermediate grade
And the other: Salim Latif: a school student in the third commercial grade
He was arrested during his father's travel, meaning when his father traveled
to the airport, he traveled to the detention center in the Defense and he is attending
the Ali Amin Sura school and he has neither shelter nor
expenses, he is pale, sick and works in hard
labor and his number is 5511
And the other: born in 1922, while he was returning to his home that evening
the discipline arrested him and today they drove him to the camp
And he was born in 1921 while we read the birth year in his drop-out number
with his father 1922 and his drop-out number, meaning his father, is 6801
Then the other: Saykali Moshi, and they arrested him at the Income Tax and he is
born in 1921 and the drop-out number is 7807
1- Hamoudi Salem: and this soldier is also in the camp, his number is 7662
2- Youssef Saleh: and this soldier is also in the camp, his number is 5629
born in 921

Honorable Secretary,
Attached herewith are (4) Tabu deeds for four plots of uninvested residential land
located in the Battaween district, Karrada Al-Sharqiya (near the old racecourse) belonging to Juliet Suleiman Shukurji.
The total area of these four plots is 860 square meters. The owner claims that she purchased them
several years ago for the sum of 2,500 Dinars, and when she offered them for sale now, no more than 500 Dinars was offered.
She therefore wishes to donate them to the Community.
The lawyer, Mr. Cohen Saqal, has studied these maps and informed me that it is necessary to carry out
the free transfer transaction for these plots and transfer them to the Community, a matter which requires various expenses
ranging between 150 - 200 Dinars.
Kindly review and order what you deem appropriate, noting that the owner of these plots is not
prepared to pay the expenses and - in case the donation is approved - the Community must bear them. With regards.
