The Baghdad District Lighting and Power Company Limited
Greetings,
With reference to the letter from the Directorate of Travel and Nationality Police, numbered extra-
ordinary and dated May 25, 1950, regarding the strengthening of the electric current in
Meir Tuwaig School, numbered 1 / 13 / 72, located on Al-Bataween Street.
Strengthening the electric current while the limiter is present has not been useful,
and the power still goes out constantly, which leads to the cessation of work in the
aforementioned school, which is currently being used as a headquarters for the revocation of nationality. Therefore, we hope
you will kindly double it again and change the current limiter in order to strengthen the electric current
to the extent that enables us to continue working without interruption.
Please consider this request of ours urgent, and thank you.
Daoud Tawfiq
Trustee of Meir Tuwaig Synagogue

Subject - Sale of immovable property in Ali Al-Gharbi with the furniture therein
To the Honorable President of the Jewish Community in Baghdad
Greetings and respect. -
Further to our letter No. 13 dated 16 / 7 / 950
There is an old building in the town of Ali Al-Gharbi belonging to Ibrahim Mansour and registered in his name
which has been used as a synagogue there for decades. Given that there are no Jews there except
only two families who will leave soon, and the aforementioned synagogue has been abandoned for a long time. Upon my contact
with the son of Ibrahim Mansour, he agreed to sell it and for its value to be allocated to help the poor during
their travel. Therefore, we request you to authorize us to sell it, as a price of (fifty dinars) has been offered for it, and this is the maximum
limit possible for its sale due to its age and its being a ruinous abandoned site, along with your approval for us to sell the furniture found
in the aforementioned synagogue, if any, and kindly inform us, please.

His Excellency the Director of General Income Tax, Respected
After much respect,
In view of the heavy workload of your respected department, we have noticed that the transactions of Jews whose
citizenship has been revoked and who are referred to your respected department do not keep pace with the required speed of their deportation. Therefore, we thought
to submit a proposal to you, and we hope it will receive your support and approval, which is to allocate a number of employees
to work after official working hours as well, provided that the treasury of the Jewish community bears the wages of
these additional employees. We are prepared to allocate an amount of 50/- to 60/- Dinars
monthly in exchange for that, to be distributed by your department to the employees performing the work as it deems necessary.
We hope to receive your approval as soon as possible.
Please accept our utmost respect;

The Lay Council

Honorable Vice President
Mr. Murad Twig, the person in charge of the
clearance issue at the Income Tax Department, informed me that His Excellency the President
has decided for him a monthly salary of five dinars with other
allowances of six dinars to be distributed to the income tax
employees as additional wages for their work after office hours
in accordance with the approval of the Ministry of Finance, which was granted based on
the request of the Community Presidency in its letter numbered
and dated 22 / 7 / 1950 attached herewith.
His Excellency the President had previously assigned me to pay these allowances
and the salary, so I pointed out to him at the time that this requires a Council decision,
so he disregarded paying this salary and allowances from the Council's
fund.
In view of the exhaustion of certified receipts with the Denationalization Committees,
the aforementioned Mr. Murad Twig approached me to take the necessary
measures to ensure the payment of his salary with the additional allowances for the
Income Tax employees at the end of this month.
The matter is up to you, please.
