(171) His Excellency the Respected Minister of Interior After greetings and respect We wish to present to Your Excellency a picture of some of the issues facing some of the Jews wishing to renounce their Iraqi citizenship in accordance with the Law Supplementing the Decree of Renunciation of Iraqi Citizenship No. (62) of 1933 and No. (1) of 1950. We have presented such cases to His Excellency the Director of Travel and Nationality Police to find a legal solution for such cases, and since the solution to these cases has been difficult until now, we have seen fit to present them to Your Excellency, requesting the favor of looking into finding a solution for such cases. The First Case A family consisting of a mentally incapacitated father, an adult wife, and children. The wife wishes to renounce her Iraqi citizenship and take her husband and children with her, while it is impossible for the husband to express his desire to renounce his citizenship legally due to his mental incapacity on one hand, and it is impossible for the wife to leave her husband alone without someone to care for him on the other hand. The Second Case Children under eighteen, orphaned of both parents, who have someone supporting them. The aforementioned supporter wishes to renounce his Iraqi citizenship and take these orphans with him, while it is impossible for the mentioned orphans to travel with him as their citizenship is not considered legally renounced following their supporter on one hand, and it is impossible to leave these orphans in Iraq without a supporter in the event of the supporter's travel outside Iraq on the other hand. The Third Case A wife with children whose husband divorced her and stipulated at the time of divorce that the children remain in the wife's custody provided she waives her claim to her deferred dowry and the children's alimony for their purpose. The mentioned wife wishes to renounce her citizenship and take her children with her, while from a legal standpoint, these children follow their father in citizenship, and it is impossible for the wife to take her children with her. We have previously alerted those concerned among the members of the community to the many disadvantages that occur
from the gathering of large crowds in front of the Masouda Shemtob School when the vehicles carrying passengers depart
to the airport, or the occurrence of crowding at the airport itself.
We deeply regret observing the recurrence of such gatherings, whether near the Masouda Shemtob School or at
the civil airport to watch the passengers or to bid them farewell. We have seen fit to repeat our request to the members of the community
to refrain completely from gathering in the aforementioned places, as such gathering causes great harm to the public
interest because it disturbs order and has a bad effect on the course of matters, with fears of its consequences.

But until now, there is no sign suggesting that, unfortunately. We were reckless and rushed to sell everything we own, and most of us have become a burden on others, without work, waiting for relief... Knowing that some of us are in dire need of expedited travel due to an emergency illness that afflicts them, or due to a situation showing the exploitation of the house, or for a poverty concealed by a home, and livelihoods are in God's hands. The community was forced to house them in the shelter of the Munshi Saleh School and feed and clothe them at its own expense until their deportation is completed. Upon inspecting the affairs of this group, it appeared that it consists of numerous families exceeding one hundred, and the number of individuals reaches about 500, including adults and children. They used to practice various simple professions such that they could not satisfy their hunger through them, so they were forced to seek refuge with us temporarily until their citizenship is revoked and their travel procedures are completed; given the large number of these people and the lack of any benefit in their continued stay with us, especially since the community's fund cannot bear their livelihood for any period, no matter how brief. We hope you will kindly issue your order to take the necessary measures to process the revocation of their citizenship while they are in their current location in a special and rapid manner based on their desire for that, with instructions to deport them as quickly as possible as well in one batch to safeguard the public interest and not keep them as a burden on the country after they have become unemployed, noting that we are keeping their detailed names to submit them to the competent department when necessary with our certification.
