His Eminence, the President of the Israeli Community in Baghdad, the Respected
Presented to your Eminence:
We, the Jewish individuals residing in Muqdadiya, some of us ⟦have stayed⟧ for a period exceeding
four months, and now that the period given to us at the time of sale has ended,
the buyers have begun to evict us from the houses and refused to rent them to us.
It is not hidden from your Eminence that since the issuance of the Law of Denaturalization until now,
we have stopped all our work and remained unemployed, all of us without work.
There was a group of grocers who buy and sell chickens and eggs,
they used to go outside the town daily to buy chickens and eggs and sell them,
but they were surprised on Saturday, falling on 10 / 6 / 950, by an order preventing them from going
outside the town. These people possess nothing to feed their families with, so we hope
from your Eminence to save us and bring us to Baghdad, and gather us in a place designated by your Eminence
for our residence, because our financial situation does not allow us to rent houses in Baghdad
and live for a long time therein. Knowing that all of us have completed the denaturalization
formalities. The matter is yours, sir.
Knowing that we are in this town ⟦...⟧

Submission to Your Excellency
I, the undersigned, one of the members of the village of Shush belonging to the Aqra district in the Mosul province

to be led into military service, and we are poor people and have come to Baghdad and have nothing to live
on. Therefore, I submit this my petition to Your Excellency, pleading for us to be given priority in the renunciation of our citizenship
And the matter is for Your Excellency to decide.

With reference to the telephone conversation we had, I present to you below the names of some Jews imprisoned in
Nugrat al-Salman, which is located on the borders of the ⟦desert⟧ of Jordan, and who are treated differently than others
in the following points:

from being brought into the prison.
2- Lack of correspondence to us.
3- Their treatment inside the prison in general.
4- Monitoring visitors more than others.
Furthermore, the families of the prisoners, both Jews and non-Jews, have submitted a petition for mercy to help their sons in the aforementioned prison
or transfer them to another prison.

To His Eminence, the President of the Baghdadi Jewish Community, the Respected
Presented to Your Eminence.
We, the Jews living in the districts, sub-districts, and villages belonging to the Erbil Governorate, submit
this petition to you, explaining our situation to you in a brief manner.
O Honorable President.
We have lived throughout the period we spent in those areas in constant distress and poverty.
And now, after the issuance of the law to revoke Iraqi citizenship from the Iraqi Jew, our
situation has become unbearable, and we have become in extreme distress and poverty, and we have become threatened with murder,
looting, and robbery, which made us contact the Erbil community and explain to them all that we suffer
from great hardships and calamities. Indeed, some incidents occurred in various sub-districts,
and finally the community leadership in Erbil. At that time, the community in Erbil took the necessary measures,
as it showed great concern, and the community committees worked until they were able to gather us in three
main centers: the first in the "Governorate Center", the second in "Koya", and the third in "Diana".
And they began to handle our affairs as necessary until today. Since the community in Erbil is overwhelmed and
cannot continue to handle our affairs continuously, due to their extreme poverty as it is not possible to
burden them beyond their capacity. And since there is no work or livelihood for us to earn in these places
where we have taken refuge, and it is not possible to wait for the completion of the transactions in Erbil as it takes
a very long period, during which we have no food or clothing to sustain us after we left
our homes, furniture, and everything we have for the sake of saving our lives from certain destruction, as
we have now become among the displaced.
Therefore, we hope Your Eminence will transfer us to Baghdad and process our transactions as quickly as possible
so that we do not die of hunger and perish, we and our families and children.
O Honorable President, we are now on pins and needles waiting for what you will do for the sake of
saving us from these difficult circumstances. God is the Granter of success, and the matter is yours,
our respected master.

To His Excellency the respected Head of the Jewish Community
Subject
We are the residents of Halabja, belonging to the Sulaymaniyah Governorate, and our Jewish population
is approximately (550) souls, located on the Iraqi-Iranian border. Since the issuance of
the Law of Denaturalization, we have renounced our citizenship. As a result,
we have sold all our properties and possessions for cash, and we have closed our shops and were waiting
for fate to lead us as decreed. From that time until now,
we have remained without work or employment, and most of us possess nothing to sustain ourselves. We
and our families and children have remained without shelter. Therefore, we have submitted this
petition of ours, appealing to Your Excellency's kindness to save us from certain
death by assisting us as quickly as possible and completing our paperwork and the denaturalization
process with the competent authorities at the earliest time. With our highest
respect to Your Excellency.
On behalf of
The Jewish community of Halabja

Presidency of the Jewish Community
in Amarah
Subject: The status of those whose citizenships were revoked
Number - 3
Date - 19 / 6 / 1950
Residence Telephone 187
To the Honorable President of the Jewish Community in Baghdad
Greetings and respect,
It is not hidden from your position that the citizenships of (388) forms were revoked on 15 / 4 / 950
And their forms were sent to the Directorate of General Police according to the letter of the Amarah Province Police Directorate No. 565
Dated 15 / 4 / 950, and the clearance of (198) forms of the aforementioned forms was completed
And sent to the Directorate of General Police as well, and a copy of it to the Travel Police Directorate, according to the letter of
The Amarah Police Directorate No. 821 dated 20 / 5 / 950, and the clearance of the rest of them will be sent
this week.
Also, (244) citizenship revocation forms were sent according to the letter of the Province Police Directorate No. 820
Dated 20 / 5 / 950 addressed to the Directorate of General Police, and a copy of it to the Travel Police, while the certificates of their
clearance are on the ⟦verge⟧ of completion.
For the purpose of presenting this to you, (388) of the aforementioned forms have been pending for more than
two months since their citizenship was revoked, and all transactions related to them from all competent departments have been completed,
such as clearance, traffic, and criminal records with fees, and nothing remains except the order for their deportation. Given that a significant period has passed,
great distress has befallen these people because they have sold all their furniture, houses, and shops, and they have all
become unemployed, most of them without work or shelter, and some of them without a livelihood. Their condition has become deplorable and in a critical predicament
that requires total attention to their fate and speed in their deportation. Therefore, I was forced to house some of them in the school after its closure
and the others in the synagogue. I submit to you that financial aid is necessary to help them if their departure is delayed any further
than this, as they do not possess enough for their living, and there are no donors to help them, nor are there revenues in
the community sufficient for that. Therefore, we hope for your kindness in guiding us on what we should do and what you will do to quickly finish the transaction
of their deportation because they are in severe distress as mentioned above, and we await your kindness. May you remain successful in doing good.
There are persons subject to military service who have revoked their citizenships and completed their other transactions; is it mandatory
for them to join military service or not, or are they exempt from it because they revoked their citizenships? Please inform us of that.
In conclusion, please accept our sincerest greetings and respects.

Administration of the Israelite Community
in Fallujah
17 / 1 / 950
His Excellency, the President of the Israelite Community in Baghdad, the Respected
Presented to your Excellency:
We confirm our previous letters and it is important for us to confirm to your Excellency that the condition of our community in Fallujah has become very
painful in view of the unemployment and the poor economic situation that has destroyed entire homes.
There are those who applied for the renunciation of citizenship more than a month and a half ago, i.e., from the date of 20 / 12 / 950
until now, and we are waiting for instructions to travel. Since the overwhelming majority of those who
applied for the renunciation of citizenship have nothing left but the plane fare, and if they are delayed for a few more days
they will be forced to spend it. Therefore, we hope for your Excellency's personal mediation with the government authorities
to deport them abroad to avoid the material and moral damages that may result from their delay, which are not hidden from your Excellency,
or to order their transfer to Baghdad and house them in one of the places belonging to the community to save them, their families,
and their children. We have explained the situation to your Excellency to be aware of the matter and to resolve this
problem before the matter worsens, and in any case, the matter is entrusted to your Excellency's correct opinion, my respected sir.
