Text of the Instructions
Each envelope contains four forms of different colors; please distribute them to the students who passed in the first
session for this academic year 1959 / 1960 in your school. As for the students who will pass in the second session, they are not given
the forms until after the results of their exams appear.
Please also note that graduates of primary teacher training institutes and vocational schools do not fill out such
forms; instead, each of them submits a petition attached with their graduation certificate to be delivered to us directly.
We clarify below the method to be followed in filling out these forms.
1 - Every student wishing to enter the university (from high school graduates) for this year only fills out
the four forms inside the envelope with all accuracy and precision.
2 - The school stamp is placed on the photograph, and the grades and total are certified by the school directorate and the
Provincial Director of Education as indicated on the forms.
3 - The four forms placed inside the envelope are delivered to the student himself, and he or his representative submits them
to the General Registration Directorate at the University of Baghdad after the application dates are announced on the Iraqi radio
and in local newspapers.
4 - After the university announces the names of the candidates for admission, each of them submits the following
documents to the college (or institute) in which they will be accepted.
1 - Civil Status Record for the 1947 registration.
2 - Iraqi Nationality Certificate.
3 - Non-conviction certificate for a non-political crime or a misdemeanor involving dishonor.
4 - A medical certificate proving freedom from communicable diseases.
5 - Non-Iraqi students (Arabs and others), whether those holding the Iraqi high school certificate
or its equivalent, are not required to fill out such forms; instead, each of them submits a petition attached
with the school certificate to our department.
6 - The number of forms sent to each province has been determined based on the statistics of the Ministry of Education for this
year regarding the number of students expected to pass this year in high schools in each province.
Please emphasize that a student is not entitled to acquire more than one set of forms (four forms
in four colors placed inside the university envelope) because their number is ⟦illegible⟧

Announcement
Admission and registration at the university for the academic year 60 - 961
Those who wish to apply for admission to the University of Baghdad should note the following conditions and instructions: -
Admission Conditions
1- It is required that the applicant for admission to the University of Baghdad holds the Iraqi Secondary School Certificate
or its equivalent.
2- Application is done by filling out the university's special admission forms.
3- Application in all colleges and institutes of the university is limited to secondary school graduates for the current year
(59 - 960). If vacant seats remain, it will then be announced for graduates of previous years to fill out
the forms and submit their applications to the university.
4- Students with makeup exams fill out the admission forms after their success, and then they are allowed to apply
to the university.
5- Graduates of primary teacher training institutes are not required to fill out admission forms; instead,
each of them submits a petition attached with a transcript of grades to be delivered to the General Registration Directorate at the University of
Baghdad. It is required that these individuals have spent three years or more in educational service
in case they choose the College of Education, and two years or more in case they choose the College of Al-Tahrir.
6- Non-Iraqi students holding Iraqi certificates or their equivalent who wish to apply
to the university are not required to fill out admission forms; instead, each of them submits to the General Registration Directorate
a transcript of grades with a petition stating the student's name, nationality, date of birth, and the colleges
and institutes they wish to apply to.
7- After the university announces the names of candidates for the interview, each of them shall attend at the time and place that
will be announced in due course and submit to the interview committee the following documents and records kept in a file:
a- Civil status book for the 947 general registration
b- Iraqi Nationality Certificate
c- Certificate of no criminal record for a non-political crime or a misdemeanor involving dishonor
d- A medical certificate from the Student Health Directorate proving the student's freedom from communicable diseases and physical
fitness.

This guide is distributed in the colleges and institutes of the University and in the General Registration Directorate at the University Bureau
for 120 fils per copy.
Colleges and institutes that the student is entitled to apply to.
1- Graduates of secondary schools - Scientific Branch are entitled to apply for admission to all colleges and institutes of the University.
2- Graduates of secondary schools - Literary Branch are entitled to apply for admission to the following colleges and institutes:
College of Arts. College of Education. Tahrir College. College of Commerce.
College of Law. Institute of Public Administration. Higher Institute of Physical
Education. Higher Institute of Languages.
3- Graduates of secondary schools - Commercial Branch are entitled to apply for admission to the following colleges and institutes:-
College of Arts. (in a limited percentage) and College of Commerce. Tahrir College.
College of Law. Institute of Public Administration. Higher Institute
of Physical Education. Higher Institute of Languages.
Instructions for applicants to scientific missions
It has been decided to coordinate admission to the University and scientific missions according to the following principles:-
1- The student who wishes to join the scientific mission fills out the mission application form. This
form is obtained from the Missions Directorate at the Ministry of Education. At the same time, he
fills out the University's admission forms, indicating the colleges he wishes to join in case he is not
accepted into the scientific mission. Then he places all the forms in the special University envelope and submits it
to the General Registration Directorate at the University of Baghdad.
2- A student who is accepted into the scientific mission is not accepted into the University at all.
3- Interviews are conducted for students wishing to join the University, including students who were not accepted into the mission,
according to the sequence of their grade point averages, immediately after the names of the candidates for the scientific mission appear.
Application and Interview Dates
The General Registration Directorate at the University of Baghdad will begin receiving admission forms starting from Tuesday,
corresponding to August 2, 1960, until Thursday, corresponding to August 18, 1960. ⟦Follow-ups⟧ shall be
between eight o'clock in the morning and twelve o'clock noon. As for the interview dates, they will be announced in due course.
