In the name of the Administrative Body of the Teachers Syndicate / Baghdad Branch, I extend to my brothers
and sisters, all members of the educational family, the warmest congratulations on the occasion of their glorious holiday,
the First of March holiday, hoping that everyone succeeds in carrying the trust and fulfilling the mission.
Your people have known you as trustees of their interests, sacrificing for their happiness and raising
their status, so your name remained associated in their conscience with courage, heroism, and fulfillment of the covenant.
For you have fought its battles against agency, reactionism, and deviation, and you have set wonderful examples
in altruism and sacrifice. Today, after the progressive national July Revolution destroyed all
manifestations of exploitation and enslavement and achieved a qualitative change in the lives of the masses, our responsibilities
as intellectuals have doubled. We must contribute to harnessing all our energies and capabilities to support the revolution
and protect its gains in a way that includes clarifying the organic relationship between this revolution and
the life of the masses, for that is our duty and a right upon us toward our homeland and our nation.
Let us deepen the Great March Declaration, and let us act guided by the National Action Charter, and let us make
the nationalization of our oil a part of our lives that we live, and our children and all the masses live, for that is our historical
responsibility. You have proven ability and creativity in performing it, so let us cherish this ability for tomorrow,
our historical gain, its required dimensions, so it liberates the land as it liberated the usurped wealth.
The crushing and swift blow received by the imperialist monopolies in our region blinded
their reason, so they accepted it reluctantly after realizing the futility of confronting a people determined to liberate
their wealth. Therefore, thanks to the capabilities we possess and relying on their long experience in harassing peoples,
they have resorted and will resort to placing obstacles and hindrances to weaken our will and force us to accept their conditions.
The danger of the stage and the ferocity of the Zionist-imperialist enemy impose upon us the duty of translating the slogan
of steadfastness into a living reality connected to the citizens in every moment of their lives, as through it alone can we
defeat imperialism and its ally Zionism and move them from the position of attack to the position of defense.
Our people, who suffered much from injustice and oppression in the eras of colonialism, deviation,
and apostasy, their sons have returned today, thanks to the progressive July Revolution, to work hand in hand to build a better
tomorrow. We teachers live a life of coalition; we see it as an obligation upon us to preserve our unity
and deepen our coalition, for in that is a wonderful revolutionary act that closes the last outlet for agents to divide the ranks
and disable energies.
