Correspondence Regarding Students from the Baghdadi Jewish Schools

Description

The archival material contains correspondence between different Baghdadi Jewish schools regarding: school matters, student transfers, acceptance forms, school reports, acceptance letters, graduation certificates, medical notification excuses, name changes, student punishment and parent’s requests for their children to repeat classes, pledge for misbehaving, and recommendation letters; photographs of students are included. It includes letters from schools to the Directorate of Education for certificate for ratification, to the Directorate of Missions and Equalization of Diplomas, and to the General Director of Recruitment. Also included is a letter from the Head of the Jewish Lay Council to the Directorate of Education regarding the reorganization of the Jewish schools to conform to the Ministry of Education’s new rules that concerns the students whom have been discharged from Jewish school because their Iraq citizenship has been revoked.

1 - Iraq State Baccalaureate Examination for Primary Education,
in September 1942, ranking 18th among 40 candidates from
Frank Iny Primary School. This examination is, in standard,
equivalent roughly to the Common Entrance Examination of the
English Schools or to grade 7 of the American Schools.
2 - Iraq State Baccalaureate Examination for Intermediate
Education, in June 1945, ranking 77th among 163 candidates
from Shamash Intermediate School.
3 - Passed London University General Certificate of Education
Examination in French at the ordinary level in Summer 1956.
4 - Passed the Iraq State Baccalaureate Examination for Secondary
Education, Scientific Section, in June 1947.
Prior to his joining Shamash Intermediate School
in October 1942, Mr. A. M. Murad did six years of Primary
Schooling at Shamash & Frank Iny Primary Schools in Baghdad.
While in Shamash Intermediate & Secondary Schools,
both of which are under the same administration, the above
candidate was always diligent and of good character.
His hobbies at school were sports, mainly, swimming
and tennis.
After his graduation from Shamash Secondary School,
Mr. Abood M. Murad joined the Law College in Baghdad, having
attended it for the period from October 1947 to September 1951.
Since then he worked as a partner and a managing director with
a commercial firm in Baghdad. He also acted as a legal advisor
to different commercial firms in Baghdad.
Mr. A.M. Murad is known to me personally as an active
and an intelligent young man. - He is physically and mentally
quite fit. I recommend him for admission to any University
abroad for a post-graduate course as a good candidate.

Baghdad by a special Commission from the Lebanon, in May 1946.
2) London University Matriculation Examination for Overseas
Students in June 1947.
While in Shamash Secondary School, the above candidate was known
to be very diligent and of very good character. Since his graduation
in 1948, Mr. M.A.Mashal, worked with well known commercial firms in
Baghdad. From the year 1955 till the present, he engaged in business
of his own.
