After greetings and respect
I would like to inform you that I was indirectly informed today that Miss Rosine Nissan, the Director of
Sewing at the Heskel Menahem Daniel School, came on Saturday, November 28, 1953,
in the afternoon around two o'clock to the aforementioned school, brought a cart and a porter, opened the
sewing room, and moved the following items out of the school without my knowledge and without any written order or instruction directed to me from
a competent authority. Since I am responsible for the school, its furniture, and its contents in my capacity as the Acting Director on
behalf of the Community administration according to the rules, and since Miss Rosine's action is considered contrary to the established procedures and rules for performing
such actions, especially since that furniture is a deposit with me from the heirs of the late Ezra Daniel and no one has the right
to move it due to the dispute regarding its ownership, I have come requesting you to investigate the matter and give your orders to
those concerned to return those items to the school and keep them until their ownership is finally decided. I also request the issuance of
your instructions to cease committing such violations in the future to preserve the interests of both parties and to prevent any
loss or dispute regarding the number of items moved in an unusual manner.
With much respect to you;
Mary Qahtan

Greetings,
Based on the request of many female students who are members and participants
in the stadium who wish to spend their free time visiting for
sewing and playing at the same time in the stadium building, we have requested Miss Rosie
Benyan, the head of handiwork at the Hakil Menahem Daniel School, to borrow
from the aforementioned school what she deems appropriate and necessary items
for use by these students. Indeed,
Miss Rosie has, based on this desire and authorization from us,
brought some furniture, tools, and items that were moved from
the school to the stadium under the supervision of Miss Rosie Benyan, as follows:
3 | Two sewing machines | 1 | Singer ironing machine
2 | Sewing machine | 1 | Orange piece of cloth for sewing
2 | Large wooden tables | 1 | Table
7 | Small tables | 1 | Chair
12 | Bench | 1 | Mirror (large)
| | 1 | Ironing board
3 - The chairs (Tlustan) were handed over, and these two items were brought to the stadium
due to the intention to open a place to receive female students.
4 - A saw and a bicycle. Since the stadium is in need of these two
items, and given that they are not being used at the Hakil Menahem Daniel School, we have thought
of purchasing them for the stadium instead of borrowing them, if you have no objection to that.
Please note that the bicycle's price is estimated at five dinars and the saw at four hundred
fils, provided that the price is paid from the stadium budget and recorded as income for the budget
of the Hakil Menahem Daniel School. In the event that you do not agree to this matter, we will be forced
to purchase similar items from outside.

December 14, 1953.
No. C. 1741/13 / 1953.
Sir,
With reference to your letter No. 3230/53
of the 20th of November, 1953, about scholarships
under the H.E. David Bequest, I have to inform you
that the Anglo Jewish Association have requested
full particulars of the candidates you propose for
scholarships, including details of academic record
and ability, personality, the courses they wish to
take and the educational establishment at which
they propose to study. As students from overseas
may have difficulty in finding places in suitable
educational establishments in the United Kingdom
the applications should be forwarded as soon as
possible through me to the Anglo Jewish Association
so that arrangements may, if possible, be made for
the admission to school of the chosen students in
October, 1954.
2. The Association have asked me to inform
you that from time to time they receive applications
for assistance from Iraqi Jewish students who are
already in the United Kingdom and to point out that
candidates for scholarships must be approved by the
Association before they leave Iraq.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient servant,
