To the Honorable President of the Administrative Committee for Iraqi Jews
Baghdad
Greetings,
We enclose herewith a copy of the income and expenditure account realized for the Ezra Menahem Daniel Playground from October 1, 1959
to September 30, 1960. We also enclose a copy of the playground's financial position as of September 30, 1960, both copied from
the playground's books which have been audited by the committee members.
Salaries and workers' wages constitute the largest part of the playground's payments, and during the above year alone they reached
(1465.650) Dinars. The playground activities were seven days a week, as students of the
Frank Iny School were trained as part of their school sports curriculum.
The fees for pure water in the above year reached 151.270 Dinars, as the playground administration was forced to
irrigate the gardens with pure water after the raw water was cut off from the playground. Now that raw water has been connected via pipes
from the Water Board to the playground in May 1960, the pure water fees for the coming year will be normal.
The amount of 150.607 Dinars (carpentry and blacksmithing) includes the values of the pipes necessary for the new basketball court
whose lighting was recently completed. The amount of 54.025 Dinars includes the values of cups distributed to winners in races and the value of
basketballs and volleyballs.
As for what came under the section (Renovations and various fees for garden and court materials), which is 193.505 Dinars, it includes
the values of fertilizers for the gardens, seeds, flowers, repairing the cooler and the slide, gypsum for marking the courts, pipe installation fees, and various
expenses during the year.
The amount of 32.692 Dinars includes what was paid for transporting Frank Iny School students to and from the playground.
The playground still needs much furniture, sports equipment, and lighting for the courts. We have previously taken precautions
for this aspect in our estimated budget for last year, as we allocated the necessary amounts, knowing they were not all spent, and we must
keep this reserve for next year; it will only be spent if necessity dictates and the committee is able to devote itself
to this aspect.
The Playground Committee had borrowed during the year ending September 30, 1960, an amount of 2000/- Dinars
which was added to 484.090 Dinars remaining from last year, making the total 2484.090 Dinars. The revenues
during the year reached 231.218 Dinars, while the expenses reached 2214.745 Dinars, thus the deficit is only
1983.527 Dinars, which is requested to be charged to the endowment of the late Ezra Menahem Daniel. It is also requested to add to it an amount of
163/- Dinars, the value of furniture purchased during the past year (19/9/58) as stated in the copy of the playground's
financial position for last year (attached to our letter dated 15/12/959).

Honorable Chairman of the Committee
Since the tasks entrusted to the signatories were temporary works for which they received
daily wages at a high rate of 2.500 Dinars, noting
that the daily wage of an ordinary worker is 400 fils, and in view of the exhaustion of the budget
which is in our committee's possession, there is no scope or justification for granting them a gratuity

To Mr. Naji Yaqoub Bashiri
Employee at the Presidency of the Mosaic Community in Baghdad
Previously, your three sons Albert, Munir, and Bashir engaged on various occasions in improper acts toward the teachers
and the principal of the Frank Iny School during the last academic year, which compelled the Teachers' Council of the mentioned school to impose
the penalty of expulsion from that school for a full academic year on Bashir. Also, another penalty was imposed on
Maysar, an attendee at the College of Engineering, by the deanship of that college at the time for his bad behavior and conduct.
Undoubtedly, you are aware of what these three did on Saturday, 12 / 24 / 1960, and at other
times before that date, in terms of using foul language toward the principal of the Frank Iny School, Mr. Abdullah
Obeidia, without there being any justifiable reason for that.
And as such disgraceful acts touch upon the dignity of our community in general and disrupt the administrative system in our institutions in particular,
the Administrative Committee has decided to warn you as the primary person responsible for your sons who are still
under your care and guidance. For the Committee considers the occurrence of such reprehensible behavior from your sons as being issued
with your consent as their guardian. And it requests you to guide your sons to refrain from such reprehensible behaviors in
the future. Furthermore, the Administrative Committee, in conjunction with others responsible for the administration of the community's institutions,
will be compelled to take necessary measures with the relevant official authorities against whichever of your sons
performs any disruptive act of this kind in the future, out of concern for the interests of the community members and its institutions.
