To all Directors of Provincial Education
Further to our letter No. 41279 dated November 2, 1953, please circulate the following
to all intermediate and secondary schools in your province to act accordingly during summer hours starting from
the first of April:
1) The lesson hours for the three intermediate classes for boys shall be 31 periods, therefore two hours of
physical education are deleted from the three classes, and the weekly hours shall be five daily except for Thursday
where the periods shall be six.
2) The number of weekly hours for the three intermediate classes for girls shall be 32 periods by deleting two hours of
physical education and singing from the three classes as well as one hour of drawing hours in each of the three
classes. Periods are distributed on the basis of six periods on each of Saturday and Thursday and five on the rest of the days.
3) The number of weekly hours for the fourth and fifth grades (Scientific and Literary) for boys shall be thirty
periods only, therefore two hours are deleted from the physical education periods in the aforementioned classes.
4) The number of weekly hours for the fourth and fifth grades (Literary and Scientific) for girls shall be thirty-
two periods only, so two hours of physical education and singing periods are deleted from both the fourth Scientific
and Literary and the fifth Scientific, while for the fifth Literary, the physical education hour and the drawing hour are deleted. Daily
periods (6) are made six on Saturday and Thursday, and five on the rest of the days.
5) The lesson duration is (45) minutes and the attendance times and the break duration between each lesson and another shall be as they are
in the attached table.

Following up on our letter No. 41279 dated November 6, 1953, please circulate the following
to all intermediate and secondary schools in your provinces to act accordingly during summer attendance starting from
