There are no specific verses in the Torah stating that God loves the Children of Israel and hates
those who hate them, but rather Israeli traditions state that the blessings mentioned in the Book with which
God blessed our early ancestors are intended to be passed on to their children if they conduct themselves well and follow
God's commandments.
Among these is what was stated in Genesis 12:2-3:
'And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.'
'And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.'
And it was stated in Genesis 27:29
'Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let
thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.'
And it was stated in Exodus 23:22
'If you obey my commandments and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary
unto thine adversaries.'
And there are many verses with this meaning in various chapters of the Holy Bible.

And it appeared in the Book of Exodus 23: 22:
"If you obey my commandments and do what I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to

Mr. President
Based on the assigned task, I have confronted
the lawyer Faeq Tawfiq regarding obtaining a copy of the ruling
issued against the carpenter Salem Shamoun and his comrades, however
he informed me that he was not provided ⟦to the court⟧ mentioned with a copy
of the ruling, but rather they were notified of it orally, and this
ruling is based on Article One, Paragraph
One of the Appendix to the Baghdad Penal Code
meaning Communism and Zionism, and that is
based on the conviction resulting from police detachments.
He has advised me to task one of the
convicted persons with submitting a petition to request a copy
of the issuance of the ruling.

Samarra, dated 27 / 10 / 48
To the Honorable President of the Jewish Community in Baghdad
We are the post and telegraph employees of Basra, numbering eight, who were taken from our jobs
suddenly and deported by the martial law authorities in Basra to Samarra. This deportation was followed by
the rest of the post and telegraph employees in Basra, who were forcibly dismissed from their jobs. They are
now divided between Tikrit and Rawa, without any crime committed by us or them except
for being Jews, and nothing else. This dismissal came as a fatal blow to the future of our families
and children. Our houses in Basra are now listed for evacuation, and our families have consumed
what remained of our belongings, selling them in the markets to cover the rent for the
houses they inhabit and food for our young children. Furthermore, we are now
present in the sub-district of Samarra, in a town where none but the eight of us reside with
our children, and we are exposed to every danger in living and housing, to the extent that we spent the nights
in the Samarra police station to preserve our safety.
Sir, we cannot bear this situation because we are miserable people and not criminals.
We have long services exceeding 28 years with the government, and our records are clean.
Also, we did not belong to parties or clubs, nor did we meet with anyone, even in cafes,
or anything that would indicate a prior suspicion against us to justify the local authorities detaining us in
Samarra. All there is to it is that we are family men, and it was and still is imperative for us
to perform our duty toward them properly. Therefore, Mr. President, we have come
with this letter of ours, requesting your urgent assistance to save us from this
distress in which we find ourselves, by approaching the ministerial authorities in Baghdad to look
into our case with a view of truth, justice, and fairness, in order to release us from this detention
so that it may be possible for us to face the danger of supporting our families before it is too late.
We are now in dire need of financial assistance because we have no money left
to manage our affairs, especially since our detention has lasted nearly three months, which has exhausted
everything we had. Also, our families do not have the ability to assist us because they
need the same assistance. Therefore, we repeat our request that you kindly extend a helping hand to us
by following up on our cases according to the petitions submitted to them by us, copies of which are attached.
By doing so, you will have performed a sacred duty, reviving families on the brink of destruction,
who will pray for you with best wishes. Sincerely.

Samarra on 17 / 10 / 48
To His Excellency the Honorable Prime Minister
Through the competent authority
We, the workers in Samarra district, eight employees of the Post and Telegraph Department in
⟦Basra⟧ were surprised on 19 / 8 / 48 by our dismissal from our jobs for a period of five
years and being kept detained away from our families without any guilt we committed under
this arrest
We, Your Excellency, are employees with a long and honorable past in our department
which we take pride in, and some of us have spent nearly 29 years in service without being tainted
by any blemish of disloyalty, recklessness, or negligence in our duties; rather,
the truth is we have explicit evidence of great loyalty, accuracy, and honesty
in our work, which has made our record clean throughout this period. This dismissal,
arrest, and deportation of ours has come as an injustice to our rights and is contrary to the
Civil Service Law and contrary to the spirit of our venerable protective constitution of which
you have become the guardians of ⟦its status⟧
This dismissal has exposed our families and us, the detained
and deported, to the actual calamities of misery that are strangling us; for our
families that we left behind will face inevitable destruction through hunger, disease, and without
a provider ⟦becoming⟧
Is this the reward for our service and loyalty? We are Iraqis from the children of this
soil and this people; we live with them and share in their noble aspirations
And we are among those most strongly committed to our constitution which established the rights of all
Iraqis.
We, Your Excellency, are not criminals, and our families are not criminals
So the continuation of our detention surrenders us and them to a slow death; therefore
we all turn to Your Excellency, pleading for a review of our case and for our release
and by this you make us grateful for your kindness, and ⟦to your Excellency⟧ great respect
