Appeal
We wish to bring to the attention of the honorable members of our community that in recent days, some
girls from our community have taken to strolling on bicycles in the streets and public squares. It is no secret to you the
unfavorable consequences this matter brings, in addition to the fact that it does not align with the traditions of the country, nor is it fitting
for the reputation of our daughters.
Therefore, out of interest in the public good and to avoid rumors, we have seen fit to request guardians to advise
their daughters to avoid riding bicycles in public streets, and we hope that this appeal of ours receives the necessary
attention from mothers and fathers.

His Eminence Rabbi Sasson Khadduri ⟦illegible⟧ the respected
Greetings and respect
Your Eminence, I approach you with prayer ⟦illegible⟧ for your ⟦illegible⟧ stances and your virtuous character
and your great merit and your help to the poor ⟦illegible⟧ who ⟦illegible⟧ from injustice and aggression
which was committed by the lawyer ⟦illegible⟧ who deceived me and trapped me in this calamity of which I am innocent
as innocent as the wolf is of the blood of Jacob's son, and here is the text of the incident
We are two poor men who bought a piece of land with its appurtenances from one of the oppressors named Khader Effendi in the year 942
for the sum of ⟦illegible⟧ we paid the commitment amount, we deducted from the amount one hundred and ten dinars as a deposit
with the lawyer for the transaction formally and the transfer of the plot. The aforementioned person requested from us a wrong line of action
on the condition that we write this amount for him in his notebook as a trust (we write as a trust to Khader one hundred and ten dinars when we receive
our land) and we did not sign the paper. And after completing the arrangement, Zaid alerted our claimant to return the trust, so we requested
likewise ⟦illegible⟧ the paper and we signed it, he replied that the notebook was lost from me, so we made for him ⟦illegible⟧ we gave a receipt for the amount
He answered us (I have indeed received the trust that you have amounting to one hundred and ten dinars, and by God I stood
⟦illegible⟧ and he went and lawsuits were filed against him, so his properties were seized by
and he went bankrupt to the point where he owned nothing, so he imposed falsehood upon us and began to think about our signatures in his notebook
And we learned finally that the oppressor wrote above to the lawyer Isaac Levy on ⟦illegible⟧ the success of this amount ⟦illegible⟧
⟦illegible⟧ so he filed the lawsuit against us on the date of ⟦illegible⟧ and we were notified to attend by the court of ⟦illegible⟧
⟦illegible⟧ receiving the amount, as the true copy which we had signed in his notebook ⟦illegible⟧
⟦illegible⟧ and the deposit, and it was not paid as is the case in Kadru
So we searched the paper we have and found the receipt for the same amount dated ⟦illegible⟧ so we informed
of this false lawsuit and we were put in the hands of the lawyer Isaac, and I learned that because Isaac Levy
is the agent of the plaintiff Khader, so I confronted the lawyer Isaac and spoke with him that this lawsuit
so why does he proceed with such lawsuits? He was surprised that I had paid the amount, so I said yes. He said, do you have
a receipt from my client? I said yes. He said bring the receipt so I can see it. I refused to show the receipt until ⟦illegible⟧
And he swore to me by God the Great and by his honor that I will help you if you have a receipt for the amount, so I trusted him
and I showed him the receipt. After reading it, he began to think about the matter, so he asked me to raise to his client one hundred
dinars and he would drop the lawsuit. I said I did not pay since I am not indebted to this man until we faced
the judge, and Ishaq requested the postponement of the lawsuit to another time. And as you know, we are poor people and we do not have
at all times the writing of this lawsuit, and we appointed the lawyer Hassan Abdel Karim for it. And we learned finally that in
taking Isaac Levy's notebook with a forged date, he makes it in the notebook as if it were signed in it and the same ⟦illegible⟧
the amount we paid, he placed a forged date ⟦illegible⟧ contrary to the date of the receipt which is between us, and the receipt
of this thing until he set us for a second hearing and Isaac Levy presented the receipt to the judge ⟦illegible⟧
The judge, this is between us, and the judge did not match the two dates, he found them different, so the judge rejected it based on
this date is not the date of the receipt. At that point, by their confession, I believed at the time, knowing that this is not
the completion of what we signed, we denied that. So Isaac requested from the judge
the authorities ⟦illegible⟧ the criminal police and examined the paper in the Swedish [office] for a period of ⟦illegible⟧
and they ruled that the words do not belong to the mentioned owner Abi Shalabi and they ruled against my signature
⟦illegible⟧ Walid ⟦illegible⟧ with the execution of ⟦illegible⟧ shame with the judgment minutes ⟦illegible⟧

To the Honorable Judge of the Court of First Instance of Baghdad
Appellant: Ibrahim Shukr, represented by lawyer Saleh Murad
Appellee: Cohen Sobhi, represented by lawyer Ishaq Robin
Grounds for Appeal: Whereas the ⟦decision⟧ of the ⟦...⟧ committee issued by the First Court of Peace in Baghdad
under number ⟦...⟧ which includes an obligation to pay an amount of (50) Dinars for placing the mark in the journal
on it, and whereas this judgment was prejudicial to my rights for the following reasons, I request its review on appeal and its annulment:
First - The lawsuit filed was based on a commission contract (Faroushi) that the appellee claims I was
a party to, whereas I did not issue any contract from my side, but rather it was with the court ⟦...⟧
Do not heed the above claim of the appellee and consider this implied contract null and void.
Second - In view of the statements of the informants and the conflicting and contradictory testimony of witnesses, it has become clear to your court,
the esteemed court, that the name of the Faroushi dye does not exist.
Third - As it has been proven to the esteemed court that the appellee ⟦...⟧ without my knowledge
and this was without my knowledge of it, and that he is not unwilling to take interest, and this also
I had no knowledge of except after filing this lawsuit. With reference to (⟦Article 656⟧)
⟦...⟧ it is not permissible to grant interest costs to whoever is seeking them when one of the authorized
scribes mentioned above exists. Ignoring this does not portray this document as anything but contrary to the law.
Summary: I request the summoning of the case file and its review on appeal, and the annulment of the decision by overturning the appealed judgment
for the law and for the resolution as well, and for the return of the included delegated papers to the competent authority and to take
the necessary action to drop the obligation mentioned by the appellee and all expenses.

Baghdad on the 20th - J - It is noted that the majority of doctors in Iraq are concentrated
in the capital and the main cities, which results in many areas such as villages and others lacking
them. This is what helps diseases to become entrenched in the villages.
His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs has addressed this problem and reinstated the Law
of Health Service, which mandates that doctors who are at certain grades must spend
certain years in the administrative units assigned to them by the government and prevents the
violating doctor from practicing his profession for a limited period. This measure is not limited to government
doctors but also includes private doctors, according to a plan aimed at distributing doctors
fairly to ensure their benefit is generalized to all residents.
Furthermore, the project aimed to do justice to the doctors who spend their service in the villages by committing
to constructing special houses suitable for their residence and reducing the minimum period for their promotion, as well as
securing the issue of their children's education.

My Dear Sir
Libraries have great importance and abundant benefits in rising countries. We are in most
need of them in our current renaissance. We have resolved to establish a library within the school
building in Baghdad, which we hope, God willing, will be a public library for the masses soon
after the necessary construction for it is completed.
We hope that you will contribute to this vital project by sending one book by mail or
by other means, regardless of the subject, price, or size of that book. Whether printed
or handwritten, in any language it may be. We also hope that you record your honorable name upon it as a gift to the library of
the Ja'fari Private Schools in Baghdad. By doing so, you will have made a contribution that is noted
and appreciated in this noble project. May you remain well.

Note: We hope that you mention to us, on a paper attached to the book, the names of the persons
in whom you see a spirit of encouragement for such charitable projects so that we may contact them,
while mentioning their addresses.
