Instructions regarding final examinations and other school matters
To the teachers and lecturers
Please note the following:
1- Final examinations for the fourth preparatory grade begin on Monday 29/5/1961 and end on Sunday 4/6/1961.
2- Final examinations for all other intermediate and primary grades begin on Wednesday 14/6/1961 and end on Thursday 22/6/1961. The school will be closed on Tuesday 13/6/1961, which is the day immediately preceding the final examinations.
3- All oral examinations for the intermediate grades will be held on Sunday and Monday, June 11 and 12, 1961, immediately before the final examinations.
4- Proctors are requested to keep the envelope (the envelope in which examination booklets are given at the start of the exams) and to keep all examinees' booklets along with extra copies of the questions in this envelope and deliver them to the administration after counting them upon completion of the exam or proctoring.
5- The administration expects every proctor to pay full attention to monitoring students and to thwart every attempt at cheating that may be carried out by students accustomed to such attempts.
6- The Teachers' Council will meet on Tuesday 13/6/1961 at ten o'clock in the morning to discuss school matters in general and examination matters in particular.
7- Final examination booklets will be corrected day by day from the start of the examinations inside the school in the teachers' room and the administration room. Members of the teaching staff are requested to remain at school every day after finishing proctoring to begin correcting the examination booklets, each in their subject. Teachers are also requested, after correcting them, to hand them over to the administration before opening them, as opening them in the teachers' room is not consistent with the confidentiality of grades. Please also keep at least one copy of the exam questions and their solutions with the booklets for reference when necessary.
8- Correction times each day will be from ten-thirty in the morning until one-thirty in the afternoon. Then from five in the afternoon until ten in the evening. Correction can be carried out at times other than these each day by agreement with the administration.
9- The corrector receives the booklets from the administration each time and returns them all to the administration after completing the correction of part or all of them.
10- The marks for each question are to be placed separately on the cover of the booklet, with the marks for the oral components of the subject also written on it, and these marks are to be added together so that the final grade (out of 100) is shown on the cover of the booklet.
⟦illegible⟧
— p. 2 —
(Continuation of instructions regarding final exams)
11 — When the corrector finishes correcting all the booklets for each subject, they return them to the administration after
recording the grades in their private grade book and in their grade file along with their signature.
12 — The administration will announce the full results to the students on Friday, 23/6/1961,
immediately after the end of the exams. Therefore, teachers are requested to begin correcting
immediately after the exam for each subject is held, so that the administration can record the grades day by day
during the exam week in the official records. Any negligence in completing the correction will be considered a failure
in performing one's duty.
13 — The administration expects the teachers (female and male) to be keen on keeping the exam results confidential
from students and from any person unrelated to the subject of the exam before the results are announced to the students by
the administration, and not to allow any person to interfere or mediate in helping any male or female student
without merit.
14 — Teachers (female and male) and lecturers are requested to organize the annual plan so that it includes
what each teacher taught during the academic year in various subjects
and list the names of the books they taught from. If there are prescribed books, it is sufficient to mention the page
numbers that were studied. If there are new books the teacher recommends using for the next academic year,
please list their names along with the classes for which their use is suggested, provided that this
information is submitted before Tuesday, 13/6/1961, as a final deadline.
15 — Please submit the final exam questions and the make-up exam questions (with their solutions by order of the Ministry of Education)
for the fourth preparatory grade before Thursday, 11/5/1961. Also, please submit the final
exam questions and make-up exam questions for the other grades (also with their solutions) before Tuesday,
6/6/1961, in one copy if the teacher decides to print them by Roneo, and in three
copies if decided otherwise. Each question paper should be titled with the grade, subject, exam date, and exam
time, as was arranged in the mid-year exam.
16 — The administration is ready to provide every teacher or lecturer with Roneo paper and stencils (Stencil)
if they wish to print the questions. They must personally type the questions on the wax paper (stencil)
and supervise the printing and burning of drafts, as the administration wishes the responsibility for printing the questions to rest
solely on the teacher.
17 — The final exam schedule will be announced in the teachers' room, so please review it immediately and provide
any remarks requested by the teachers in this regard so that the schedule can be fixed and finalized
as soon as possible.
18 — Please note the schedule for make-up exams, which will begin on Friday, September 1
next, 1961, and end on Sunday, the 10th of it. The next academic year will begin
on Thursday, 5/10/1961.

Academic Year 1960/1961
Instructions regarding the mid-year exam and first semester grades
Teachers and lecturers are requested to note the following and act accordingly:
First - Submit the average grades for the second quarter of the academic year (i.e., the average for December and January)
and the average grades for the first half of the current academic year during the week ending on
Friday, 1/13/1961, provided that this is not delayed beyond Sunday, 1/15/1961, so that
the administration can record these grades in the school registers and grade cards and distribute them to
the students before the mid-year exam.
Second - The mid-year exam begins on Sunday, February 5, 1961, and ends at the end of Monday,
2/13/1961, as announced in the mid-year exam schedule, followed by a one-day holiday, which is
Tuesday, 2/14/1961. Accordingly, studies will resume after the holiday on Wednesday morning,
2/15/1961. The three days immediately preceding the mid-year exams are designated
for conducting oral exams for the classes that require these exams, or for reviewing various
subjects in a general review, or for finishing a subject that the teacher had not completed before.
Third - Oral exams are conducted in Arabic, English, French, and Religion for all classes as
announced in the mid-year exam schedule, provided that each teacher informs the students of this a week
before the oral exam. Teachers who examine students during regular school days,
if necessary, are requested to conduct their oral exams during the lesson
assigned to them without taking the examined student out of the classroom and without affecting the flow of daily
teaching in terms of order.
Fourth - The mid-year exam schedule has been posted in the teachers' room. Please review it immediately and contact the administration
to provide any observations requested by the teachers in this regard to finalize the schedule and make it final before
Monday, 1/23/1961.
Fifth - The administration is ready to provide every teacher or lecturer with Roneo paper and stencils (Stencil)
if they wish to print the questions. They must type the questions on a typewriter or write them by hand on
the Stencil paper, supervise their printing, and burn the drafts, as the administration wishes to limit
the responsibility for printing the questions to the teacher.
Sixth - Please submit the mid-year exam questions to the administration before Wednesday, 1/25/1961,
in one copy only if the teacher decides to print them by Roneo, and in three copies if they decide otherwise, provided that
the writing of the questions is very clear, and a separate question sheet is placed for each subject and each class separately.
Each question sheet should be titled according to the arrangement shown below according to the language used
in the questions, starting with the phrase Frank Iny School (Shamash Preparatory) if the
exam is for students of the fourth or fifth preparatory grade.

Seventh - All teachers are requested to obtain a printed envelope from the administration to place
the mid-year exam questions inside, while writing the indicated information on it such as the exam subject,
class, teacher's name, exam date, exam time, etc...
Eighth - Students will be distributed during the mid-year exams in different rooms so that the students
of the primary classes remain in their same rooms. Male and female students of the sixth and fifth primary grades
of both branches will sit in the cinema hall on the upper floor. Male and female students of the preparatory
and intermediate classes in their entirety will sit in the grand hall on the lower floor.
Ninth - It is expected that every teacher completes the grading of the mid-year exam booklets after the exam
for each subject directly day by day and inside the school, provided that the deadline for submitting the grades
of these exams is no later than Monday, 2/13/1961, which is the day the mid-year exams end.
This is so the administration can record the grades in the registers and on the averages and distribute them to the students
immediately upon their return after the mid-year exam.
Tenth - Teachers of the first primary classes, including the preparatory class,
first, second, third, and fourth, are requested to submit the mid-year exam grades to the administration day by day
before leaving the school, given that most of these exams are oral and it is possible to complete recording their grades
at the end of each of these exams.
Eleventh - The administration expects the teachers to be keen on keeping the mid-year exam results
confidential from students and from any person unrelated to the exam subject before these results are announced

Teachers and lecturers are requested to note the following and act accordingly:
First - Submit the average grades for the second quarter of the academic year (i.e., the average for December and January)
and the average grades for the first half of the current academic year during the week ending on
Friday, 1/13/1961, provided that this is not delayed beyond Sunday, 1/15/1961, so that
the administration can record these grades in the school registers and grade cards and distribute them to
students before the mid-year exam.
Second - The mid-year exam begins on Sunday, February 5, 1961, and ends at the end of Monday,
2/13/1961, as announced in the mid-year exam schedule, followed by a one-day holiday, which is
Tuesday, 2/14/1961. Accordingly, studies will resume after the holiday on the morning of Wednesday,
2/15/1961. The three days immediately preceding the mid-year exams are allocated
for conducting oral exams for classes that require these exams, or for reviewing various
subjects in a general review, or for finishing a subject that the teacher had not completed before.
Third - Oral exams are conducted in Arabic, English, French, and Religion for all classes as
announced in the mid-year exam schedule, provided that each teacher informs the students of this a week
before the oral exam. Teachers who examine students during regular school days,
if necessary, are requested to conduct their oral exams during the lesson
assigned to them without removing the examined student from the class and without affecting the course of daily
teaching in terms of order.
Fourth - The mid-year exam schedule has been posted in the teachers' room; please review it immediately and contact the administration
to provide any observations requested by the teachers in this regard to finalize the schedule and make it final before
Monday, 1/23/1961.

if they wish to print the questions. They must type the questions on the typewriter or write them by hand on
the Stencil paper, supervise the printing, and burn the drafts, as the administration wishes to place
the responsibility for printing the questions on the teacher.
Sixth - Please submit the mid-year exam questions to the administration before Wednesday, 1/29/1961,
in one copy only if the teacher decides to print them by Roneo, and in three copies if they decide otherwise, provided
that the writing of the questions is very clear and a separate question sheet is placed for each subject and each class separately.
Each question sheet shall be titled according to the arrangement shown below and according to the language used
in the questions, starting with the phrase (Frank Iny School) or the phrase (Shamash Preparatory School) if the
exam is for students of the fourth or fifth preparatory grade.
