UNIVERSITY OF LONDON GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION EXAMINATION
The statement on the other side of this form shows grades awarded to you in each subject for which you entered. No notices showing combined Ordinary and
Advanced results will be issued. This information is sent before the issue of Certificates and the University reserves the right to correct the document is not a Certificate and must not be regarded as such. No further
information will be issued by the University; the decisions of the Examiners, which have been reached after careful consideration, are final. The grades awarded are to be interpreted as follows:
Grades A, B, C, D, E and O at Ordinary level and A, B, C, D and E at Advanced level are grades of pass in descending order of merit. Grade O at Advanced level shows a compensatory Ordinary level pass. Grade
F (Advanced level) and F, G, H (Ordinary level) denote failure. An 'X' indicates absence from the examination in a subject.
In French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish two grades are given. The first represents the result obtained in the subject as a whole including the oral test. On the right of this appears the grade given in the oral
examination only. At the Advanced level the oral grades are A, B, C, D, E, O and F, and at the Ordinary level are A, B, C and F. Failure (F) in the oral test does not necessarily indicate failure in the subject as a whole.
There are no oral tests in these languages in the Overseas examination.
At the Advanced level in Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Physics and Zoology, two grades will appear. The first represents the grade obtained in the subject as a whole including the practical test. On the right
of this appears the grade given in the practical test only.
In English Language with Spoken English the first grade is the English Language result. The second grade is the Spoken English result expressed as A, B or C (Pass) or F (Fail). To obtain a pass grade in Spoken
English a candidate must have satisfied the examiner in both reading and conversation.
To help unsuccessful candidates at Ordinary level to assess their future prospects grade F indicates a narrow margin of failure, G that the margin was wider, and H that the candidate did not obtain more than about
one third of the marks for the subject as a whole.
In the Special paper Grade 1 indicates Distinction, Grade 2 Merit and Grade U an unclassified result. No candidate may be awarded Distinction or Merit unless he has attained grades A, B, C, D or E at the Advanced
level in the same subject. Special papers are available only to candidates in the United Kingdom.
If these results oblige you to consider entering for the next examination you are urged to consult the appropriate authority or regulations without delay.

Subject / Student Punishment
In view of what the following named students have done:-
(1) (Isaac Hayim) Yaqub Heskel Rubin.
(2) Heskel Sion Heskel Jaflawi.
(3) Sabah Naim Daoud Shamil.
(4) Ezra Salim Daoud Shammas.
(5) Munir Amin Jadu' Hilmi.
They are from the third intermediate grade. In view of the acts they committed that disturb order and indicate recklessness
inside the classroom, despite being warned numerous times by the teachers and the school administration of the necessity
to maintain order and quiet, the Disciplinary Council met and decided the following:-
(1) A decision of temporary expulsion for one day, which is Wednesday, 24 / 3 / 1965,
against them, with a deduction of twenty points from the conduct average of each of them.
(2) If any violation is committed by any of these students during the remainder of the current school year,
they will not be accepted into the school in the coming year.
Twenty points had previously been deducted from the conduct average of student Sabah Naim Daoud Shamil on 22 / 3 / 64.
Accordingly, the total points deducted from his conduct average has reached forty points.
Ten points had previously been deducted from the conduct average of students Heskel Sion Heskel Jaflawi and Munir Amin Jadu'
Hilmi on 21 / 3 / 1964. Accordingly, the total points deducted from their conduct average
has reached thirty points.
This is with the knowledge that a student is considered to have failed his grade if 50% or more is deducted from his conduct points.
