UNIVERSITY OF LONDON GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION EXAMINATION OVERSEAS
The statement on the other side of this form shows the grades awarded to you at the Advanced and/or the Ordinary level in each subject for which you entered. This information is sent before the issue of Certificates and the University reserves the right to correct it. This document is not a Certificate and must not be regarded as such.
Ordinary Level
At this level grades A, B, C, D and E are grades of pass in descending order of merit, reading from left to right, and Grades F and H, followed by the word FAIL, denote failure. An 'X' indicates that a script has been received in answer to questions set on a subject, syllabus or option other than the one for which you entered, and no result is given.
There are no oral tests in the languages at this level.
Advanced Level
At this level grades A, B, C, D and E are grades of pass in descending order of merit, reading from left to right, and grade F followed by the word FAIL, denotes failure. Grade O, followed by ORD, at this level indicates a compensatory Ordinary level pass. The words FAIL and ORD apply to the subject as a whole. An 'X' indicates absence from the examination in a subject. 'Z' indicates that a script has been received in answer to questions set on a subject, syllabus or option other than the one for which you entered, and no result is given.
In Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Physics and Zoology two grades are given. The first represents the grade obtained in the subject as a whole, including the practical test; to the right of this appears the grade given in the practical test only.
Where a candidate has entered for both Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics but has not been awarded an Advanced level pass in both subjects, an alternative Advanced level pass in Mathematics (Pure and Applied) may be given if the performance in Papers 1 and 3 reaches the required standard.
There are no oral tests in the languages at this level except for certain schools in West Africa. For candidates from these schools there are two grades in French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish and Modern Hebrew. The first represents the result obtained in the subject as a whole including the oral test. To the right of this appears the grade given in the oral examination only. The oral grades are A, B, C, D, E, O and F. Failure in the oral test does not necessarily indicate failure in the subject as a whole.

UNIVERSITY OF LONDON GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION EXAMINATION
The statement on the other side of this form shows grades awarded to you either at the Advanced level or at the Ordinary level in each subject for which you entered. No notices showing combined Ordinary and Advanced results will be issued. This information is sent before the issue of Certificates and the University reserves the right to correct it. The document is not a Certificate and must not be regarded as such. No further information will be issued by the University; the decisions of the Examiners, which have been reached after careful consideration, are final. The grades awarded are to be interpreted as follows:
Grades A, B, C, D, E and O at Ordinary level and A, B, C, D and E at Advanced level are grades of pass in descending order of merit. Grade O at Advanced level shows a compensatory Ordinary level pass. Grade F (Advanced level) and F, G, H (Ordinary level) denote failure. An 'X' indicates absence from the examination in a subject.
In French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish two grades are given. The first represents the result obtained in the subject as a whole including the oral test. On the right of this appears the grade given in the oral examination only. At the Advanced level the oral grades are A, B, C, D, E, O and F, and at the Ordinary level are A, B, C and F. Failure (F) in the oral test does not necessarily indicate failure in the subject as a whole. There are no oral tests in these languages in the Overseas examination.
At the Advanced level in Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Physics and Zoology, two grades will appear. The first represents the grade obtained in the subject as a whole including the practical test. On the right of this appears the grade given in the practical test only.
In English Language with Spoken English the first grade is the English Language result. The second grade is the Spoken English result expressed as A, B or C (Pass) or F (Fail). To obtain a pass grade in Spoken English a candidate must have satisfied the examiner in both reading and conversation.
To help unsuccessful candidates at Ordinary level to assess their future prospects grade F indicates a narrow margin of failure, G that the margin was wider, and H that the candidate did not obtain more than about one third of the marks for the subject as a whole.
In the Special paper Grade 1 indicates Distinction, Grade 2 Merit and Grade U an unclassified result. No candidate may be awarded Distinction or Merit unless he has attained grades A, B, C, D or E at the Advanced level in the same subject. Special papers are available only in the Summer examination and only to candidates in the United Kingdom.
If these results oblige you to consider entering for the next examination you are urged to consult the appropriate authority or regulations without delay.

To the guardians of the school's students
In view of the absence of students Salim Haqqi Nabih, Nahar Saleh Jawad Saleh, Muhammad
Saleh Yassin Haddad and others from the fourth preparatory grade (Scientific) on Sunday
corresponding to 1/2/1966 without a legitimate reason, the school administration has decided to deprive the absent students
including the students mentioned above from each of their conduct grade averages.
This is with the knowledge that a student is considered to have failed in his grade if his conduct grade average
falls below 50 degrees.
