I noticed during my visits to schools that many teachers do not have
the textbooks for the subjects they teach. These teachers believe, especially those
who have spent a period of time in service, that there is no need for that on the basis that the teacher
knows the material in the textbooks. I see that this idea is completely
erroneous, as the correct implementation of the annual plan and the daily plan requires continuous
reading by the teacher for what he teaches the next day. Otherwise, teaching becomes improvised and the
desired benefit is not achieved. Yes, the teacher may know the subject he will teach, but he cannot
be sure of the difficult words or sentences that need explanation or the meanings he wants
to emphasize during the lesson and the questions he wants to raise before the students unless he prepares and reads
the lesson material in advance and marks all of the above to be sufficiently prepared
to teach his students. This is in addition to the homework he will assign to his students, as how can the
amount of homework be determined without referring to the textbook. Therefore, I request you to kindly ask
school administrations to provide teachers with textbooks for the subjects in their charge
according to the procedures followed in this regard.
