⟦428⟧ 6 May 937 To The Presidency of the Kirkuk Court of First Instance Kirkuk Reference to your letter No. 937/2 dated 3 May 937 We have referred your letter to the Israeli Religious Court in Baghdad, and it replied that Haron Yusuf Bashi had filed a divorce lawsuit in the Religious Court against his wife Salima (Khatun) daughter of Yusuf on 4 Hebrew Tishrei 5693 corresponding to 4 October 1932. Consequently, the court decided to divorce her from her husband based on proof that the husband plaintiff had a previous legal wife. The decision was issued in person and announced publicly. Accordingly, the divorce document was drafted on the mentioned date, but the wife has not received it until now. The court notified her through the Rabbi of Kirkuk of the necessity to attend to Baghdad to receive the divorce document, but she did not attend. Note: After the husband writes the divorce document, he is legally prohibited from meeting with his wife, who becomes forbidden to him, even if she has not received her divorce document, which remains in the court until she takes it. 4 ⟦Haron⟧ Head of the Community ⟦L⟧
