To the Honorable Judge of Personal Status Matters in Baghdad
On May 10, 1944, I submitted to your high position a petition with an attached officially certified community document from
the most reliable merchants of Baghdad regarding the qualities of the father of the hunter, the son of Bani Yaqub, who are Ibrahim and Khadouri Yaqub ⟦illegible⟧ and ⟦illegible⟧
that they are rooted in the aforementioned community and you live as the most suitable of these as a guardian for the minor's community property and deposited
those reports with the petition to the Israeli Spiritual Council in Baghdad to look into the contents of the reports and to clarify the status
of the two mentioned persons among their community. Since 12 days ago, based on the father's reviews and audits, the son found
the matter ⟦line⟧ has become a religious matter or as if a fatwa was handed over, and various councils were set up for it, and it caused gossip and other things
No answer has been given until now, even though the question posed by your high position is very simple and consists of distinguishing two persons
and defining their status among the community.
Since you are the general guardian for protecting the rights of minors and you look for what is best for them, I entrust the protection of the minor's rights to your justice
to look into what is best for him and to guard against the two risks and request the answer and take the necessary action, and in any case, the matter is up to you.

To the Honorable President of the Israeli Spiritual Council
After greetings: The case is not a religious matter, but rather what is required is to provide
clarifications about the conditions of the two persons and their social status among the community
and to state which of them is preferable. If the petitioner's statement is correct that the matter remained
in your council in the form of a religious issue, it is very surprising, and that is undoubtedly
an interference in the jurisdiction of our court and contrary to what is required and entails
obstructing our judicial interests. Therefore, please look closely into the case and speed up
giving the answer according to the question previously posed. This is with our
utmost respect, May 17, 1944

To the Honorable Sharia Court of Cassation
High greetings. After reviewing the old Rusafa Court, the following has become clear: the petitioner filed
a lawsuit on March 25, 962, requesting the obedience of his wife to return with him to Mosul. Since the wife
during the war had been married to the aforementioned in Amarah under the claim that he was not married in Mosul and on the condition that
she resides during the war in Baghdad. Upon presenting witnesses, it was proven that he was unmarried, and after the consummation, the
marriage took place with the knowledge of the Rabbinate of Amarah. After she moved to Baghdad, it became clear that the aforementioned had a first wife in Mosul
in Baghdad. Since the second wife was forced to reside with her co-wife contrary to what the husband had volunteered, she continued
in Mosul, and the husband did not record the wife's statement. It was clarified to the presidency that the marriage occurred to the wife
through deception and that the witnesses were false. Accordingly, it was decided not to compel the wife to obedience, and if he leaves Baghdad,
a monthly alimony of thirty rupees is allocated to her. On August 8, 962, both parties attended, and the wife stated
her agreement to go with him monthly to Mosul on the condition of securing alimony for her house in Mosul, and the
alimony is ruled against him if he fails to return after the mentioned authorized period. Secondly - due to the presence of the mentioned husband,
the notification was issued, matching the alimony of thirty rupees per month which the husband deposited during the proceedings at the presidency,
and the husband deposited sixty rupees in cash, which is the alimony for two months for the duration of his absence. It was decided ⟦based⟧ on this
to execute our decision through the official execution department if the husband fails to return after the authorized period.
The mentioned period passed and he did not return in the name of the aforementioned, nor did he send the wife's alimony; therefore, an objection was filed according to the decision,
and the notification was deposited in time to the execution department for its implementation. Secondly, the wife is not legally obligated to obey
by way of going to Mosul, and the husband is obligated to provide for his wife residing in her house.

Head of the Execution Department
Greetings,
Before this date, July 29, 921, and number 788, we attended and clarified
that it was understood that the wife of Meir Yaqub the Iranian, currently residing in
Amarah, had previously reconciled with her husband in Baghdad with the knowledge of
the Spiritual Rabbi. However, after the reconciliation, she traveled without her husband's permission
to the villages and then to Amarah, and she did not respond to the Rabbi's summons to attend
the trial with her husband after notification, as the summons was repeated three times, but she ignored
the matter and applied to the Amarah court to obtain an alimony decree, which should be
void as long as the reconciliation was decided between them - in absentia.
Since the matter has been received via the attached notification from the Rabbi regarding Meir's necessity to attend court,
the issue is presented to your presence as a confirmation and a request for you to inform the Head of Execution
in Amarah of the necessity to annul the aforementioned decree issued by the Amarah court,
pending the hearing and the resolution of the dispute in the Israeli Spiritual Court
