On 10 October 927
To the Honorable Vice President of the Baghdad Court of First Instance
Greetings,
With reference to your letter No. 169 Personal 2128 dated 25 September 1927.
The matrimonial lawsuit was filed on 21 February 927 through the power of attorney of Menashi Saltoon on behalf of Amram bin Nissim Levi, and Saleh Effendi Murad on behalf of Gorgia bint Menashi. The aforementioned Menashi claimed that his client requests the collection of five hundred rupees from his uncle (his wife's father), which is the remainder of the dowry. Saleh Effendi, the representative for the aforementioned Gorgia, replied that the wife's father had paid his son-in-law, the aforementioned Amram, a portion of the mentioned claim, and that the wife paid him the remaining portion. An oath was administered to the wife's father and the wife regarding this.
Then Menashi Saltoon claimed to charge the wife with her acknowledgment of the jewelry and household furniture in her possession. Upon questioning and after she took the oath, she admitted that a portion of the mentioned jewelry had been taken from her by her husband and placed as collateral with Khawaja Sion Shlomo Abboudi for the sum of five hundred and forty-two rupees. Upon questioning the aforementioned husband, he admitted the truth of that. She admitted that the remainder of the jewelry was in her possession. As for the household furniture, it had been sold by the wife and the proceeds spent on herself since her husband had left her without a livelihood or support. The rest of the claimed furniture is in her possession.
Upon deliberation, and since the aforementioned wife took the oath in the manner mentioned above, and since her father and mother were also sworn regarding the rest of the dowry amounting to five hundred rupees which was paid by them to the aforementioned husband Amram, and since it was verified that a portion of the jewelry belonging to the wife had been pawned by the aforementioned husband, it was decided to compel the aforementioned Amram to prepare a legal home and return to the marital state amicably; otherwise, alimony will be imposed on him in the amount of twenty rupees per month starting from the date of 13 January 1927.
Since the aforementioned Amram had traveled from Baghdad to foreign lands leaving his aforementioned wife without support, a decree for alimony was issued against him in the amount of twenty rupees per month starting from 13 January 927. The mentioned decree was issued in absentia by the Rabbinate in Baghdad on 11 March 927 under number 9/1089. ⟦line⟧ This, and to your presence our respect;

On August 4, 1927
To the Honorable Vice President of the Baghdad Court of First Instance
After greetings, and with reference to your letter No. 196/1710 dated 7/26/927.
The woman named Rani, daughter of Murad Beyers, had applied to the Israeli Spiritual Authority on
12 Sivan 677 Hebrew, requesting a judgment to collect her deferred dowry amounting to three hundred (300) liras
from the estate of her deceased husband, Dr. Murad Effendi Al-Hasho Kabay. Upon reviewing the claim of the aforementioned Rani
and after questioning her, she admitted that she possesses items and clothing estimated, after appraisal, at seventy liras and eleven
piastres (70/11). After deducting the mentioned amount from her dowry documented in the marriage contract given to her
at the time of marriage to her aforementioned husband, it was decided to collect the remaining amount of two hundred and twenty-nine liras and eighty-nine
piastres (229/89) from the proceeds of the estate and deliver it to the creditor, the aforementioned Rani. A judgment was issued
to that effect and handed to the aforementioned Rani, daughter of Murad Beyers. Respectfully yours;

Based on the lawsuit filed by my client Musa Levi Cohen against Ishaq bin Manshi Hayat regarding the delivery of the girl, a dispute arose
on the part of the Chief of Collection regarding the reason for the divorce of the aforementioned Ishaq in the aforementioned Spiritual Court, as the aforementioned Ishaq, when her statement was taken,
confessed to her unlawful act and stated ⟦the decision⟧ which Salih submitted through the Court of Examples, except for his father's house, but in the news that arrived
at the Court of First Instance, the testimony of the witnesses was not mentioned, nor was the statement of the client mentioned in the District Court, or in some papers on the back of the investigation
at the Court of First Instance. If that occurred as we explained, let a copy of her statement be provided to you so that the summons to the Court of First Instance may be carried out. This is for your order.
