On Tuesday, 28th of Sivan, the year 5684 (1924)
To the dear and honored brother, Master Meir, may his Rock and Redeemer protect him, after greetings
regarding that matter. And after that, a letter reached us from
the said Master Joseph, may his Rock and Redeemer protect him, and he mentioned to us in it that
this thing was extremely difficult for us
we did not think it would be of this kind
whatever it was. In short, today we are in extreme
⟦...⟧ regarding that thing, but our hope is from God the Exalted
that it will be for the best. Amen. And regarding that boy
he will be with us in great joy, even though
he always asks about his father and his mother, likewise should
the boy Aaron. We, regarding that matter, will not have
⟦...⟧ regarding that, whatever it may be, the result for us
is that we write to you the details of that thing, but
quickly as a letter arrived from the brother of that
thing and mentioned that good news to us as
we want that thing to be for us
very, very great, and regarding that thing
we hope from God the Exalted that it will be

Remainder of the virtues of prayer etc. and among the specificities of the group prayer
is that the Imam, when he prays with a group of people of knowledge
and piety; and if such is not found, then the one who reads the most among them * and if they are equal, then the eldest among them
unless he has a physical defect, or is a slave, or is uncircumcised, for it is not permissible to put him forward.
And they recommended that his voice be loud so people can hear, and that he reads
with Tajweed (correct pronunciation), and that he be a person of wealth and virtue, and from the old
families.
And it is disliked for the Imam to be a profligate, an ignorant person, or a Bedouin for urban dwellers, or a convert
for a state, or a child of adultery, or one known for mockery, or the
servant in the mosque, or one who takes the mihrab without legal right, or the
one hated by a group or most of them, or one performing a voluntary prayer for those performing an obligatory one in the time,
and the one who makes grammatical errors in the recitation in a letter that changes the meaning. As for the error
that does not change the meaning, it is disliked. If he intentionally makes an error that changes
the meaning, his prayer and the prayer of those following him are void. And if he forgets,
he performs the prostration of forgetfulness. Likewise, if he makes an error in the Takbir, his prayer is void.
And the most deserving of the Imamate is the father with his son, the grandfather with his grandson,
the righteous with the wicked, the resident with the traveler, the adult with
the child, the free man with the slave, and the one performing obligatory with the one performing voluntary, and the
blind and the mute with the sighted and the speaking. And the one performing voluntary with
the one performing voluntary, and the one performing obligatory with the one performing obligatory is permissible, even if the
intentions and the prayer differ, such as one who prays Asr behind one who prays Dhuhr,
or prays a missed prayer behind one who prays on time, or prays voluntary behind one who prays
obligatory; all of this is permissible. The follower intends whatever obligation he owes
and prays with him.
And likewise, it is permissible for one who prays Maghrib to follow one who prays Isha,
and when the Imam stands for the fourth rak'ah, the follower sits, recites the Tashahhud, and performs the Taslim.
Likewise, one who prays Isha behind one who prays Maghrib: when the Imam performs Taslim,
the follower stands and completes his prayer alone.

Inquiring after the welfare of the Honorable Rabbi Ezekiel, may God protect and preserve him ...
⟦...⟧
For they wrote them into every book and every name of a vessel and matter
A letter from your hand reached me and I read in it good things
to God, may He be blessed, and also matters of ⟦...⟧
I stood before a high and exalted throne, of blessed memory, and he wrote and inquired ⟦...⟧
You will understand one thing from another and know what ⟦...⟧
Your words are like cold water on a weary soul and also ⟦...⟧
One and unique, abundant in deeds, of Kabzeel ⟦...⟧
A memorial offering before the Lord always and all ⟦...⟧
At every time and moment ⟦...⟧
⟦...⟧
And many blessings shall rest upon the head of the Honorable Rabbi Hayyim, may he see seed and prolong days, and all
his household and all those joined to him, so may God Almighty give and so may He add
unto him, and may He bless his bread and his water and remove sickness
from his midst, and everything he has shall be blessed and praised in the mouth of all
and all who see them shall recognize them, for they are the seed the Lord has blessed, and all
that he does shall prosper and he shall ascend higher and higher, and may David be
prudent in all his ways and the Lord be with him, and may his entire house be
established and endure before the Lord always, all the days, and all
his enemies shall fall beneath his feet and God shall subdue them
under the soles of his feet, Amen, so may it be His will
And further I wished to inform his honor that ⟦...⟧
which you wrote to me concerning the great Rabbi ⟦...⟧
⟦...⟧
And all the words of a wise man's mouth are gracious and his lips shall kiss ⟦...⟧
from the mouths of authors and not from the mouths of books ⟦...⟧

Good tidings, salvations, and comforts
as petitioned by your servant ⟦...⟧

And what happens to them of harm in many ways is mentioned
in places other than this.
And we have mentioned in some of our books the compositions
of what occurs to them regarding that, and Sheikh Abu Zakariya
bin Adi mentioned that and explained it, and he also mentioned that the harm occurs
when the planet Jupiter is falling from the ascendant at
the time of the deposition of the seed in the womb or at the time of its birth,
for that indicates the corruption of the intellect and the badness of
discernment, lack of understanding, stupidity, and idiocy, and loss.
And that may also be due to afflictions that occur to the brain
at the beginning of creation, as Galen mentioned in the book On the Usefulness
of the Parts, in the ninth treatise of it.
And Abu Bakr al-Razi said in the book al-Mansuri in the third
treatise of it that the swelling of the brain and its blockages cause that.
His words regarding what we mentioned of the matter of fools and the insane; as for
the simpletons, they are those who do not manage well and are not guided to
what is for their benefit, and they do not know what harms them and what profits them
from the perspective of intellect and discernment, but they have imagination and memory.
And all of that may be by nature from the origin of the constitution, and likewise
the case for fools and the insane.

Blessed is He who gives strength to the weary
And to those who lack power, He increases strength. King David, peace be upon him, said

And if you are dear to us and you would do us a kindness ⟦...⟧
For a long time you have not written a letter to us and none has arrived
And we write and send, but nothing has reached you
From us ⟦...⟧
One letter from you in ⟦...⟧
Not a year or two has passed for you ⟦...⟧
We ask about you and we ask for you ⟦...⟧
From them and from others regarding what we sent to them from
⟦...⟧ and other things from what we sent to them
By the hand of so-and-so son of so-and-so, and you know
And other than that, according to what was in your hearts of love
⟦...⟧
And in this year a letter arrived to us from
You, and we rejoiced in it greatly and we read in it
And we understood what is in it; and if it has already happened to you
From what reached you from us ⟦...⟧
And you do ⟦...⟧ do not do this year in
That <del>⟦illegible⟧</del> and if nothing had reached you
Until this year, and this year something reached you
Then you are at the end of that according to what you had
And do not forget, we ask about you and in that
⟦...⟧ do not forget, we ask about you
At every time and every season according to what was between us

And in integrity they were revealed to Hashem and so they did according to this word
<del>As</del> it is said: You have affirmed Hashem today, etc.
Do not pass through it and do according to all that I command you
As your God spoke to you and so that you shall be a people for Him
As He swore to your fathers, etc. And regarding such
King David, peace be upon him, said
Hear now my brothers and friends, pay attention and hear
Israel, this day you have become a people to Hashem your God
And you shall listen to the voice of Hashem your God and do His commandments
And His statutes which I command you today, etc.
If so, when they return and thank the Holy One, blessed be He, for all the goodness
He has done for them and for taking them out from slavery to freedom
In every way, and He unified His name upon them and they were called
His children and His beloved ones and He said to them: and you shall be a treasure to Me
From among all the nations, etc. and therefore he praises the Holy One, blessed be He, and says
Who is like Your people Israel, one nation in the land, and who is like Your people
Israel, one nation in the land
But they must know and understand that the study is not the main thing
But rather the action, and they need to fulfill the commandments and pursue
Charity and acts of kindness, and whoever has been graced by
Hashem with wealth and assets should set aside from them for charity
And should not tighten his hand from giving and should be a giver with a generous
Eye and with a good heart so that he may be blessed from the mouth of the Most High

For He is awesome, etc. and here he should intend the name of 42
the initials of 'Ana B'koach' etc. and he shall say the prayer of Ana
B'koach etc. until 'accept our plea and hear our cry,
Knower of mysteries.' Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom
forever and ever. And afterwards he shall say:
Only goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life, and I will dwell
in the house of the Lord for length of days. Toward Your holy temple in Your awe
I will prostrate myself toward Your holy temple in Your awe, for with You is forgiveness
so that You may be feared, etc. and afterwards he shall say:
Our God and God of our fathers, let it come
before You our prayer, etc.
And afterwards he shall say: A crown they shall give to You, O Lord our God, angels,
the multitudes of above, with Your people Israel, the gatherings of below,
together, all of them shall repeat 'Holy' to You, as the word spoken
by the hand of Your prophet: 'And one called to another and said: Holy,
holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts; the whole earth is full of
His glory.'
Then with a sound of great, mighty, and strong noise, they make
a voice heard, raising themselves toward the Seraphim, facing them
they praise and say: 'Blessed is the glory of the Lord from His place.'
From Your place, our King, appear and reign over us, for

Alright, and it shall go forth in the name of the Lord, we shall do and succeed with the help of God
This is the deed for the Queen of King Solomon, peace be upon him -
At the time when King Solomon, peace be upon him, was sitting upon
his royal throne and was king over the entire world and over all
the beasts and the birds and over all the demons and the spirits and he understood
every single language and was knowledgeable in every single wisdom
and he ruled over everything and was sitting in the Holy Temple
in the magnificent building and was rejoicing with great and many joys
and he was eating and drinking, he and all his ministers and his servants -
On that day and at that time the angels came before Solomon
the King, peace be upon him, and said to him, peace be upon you, O King -
He said to them, peace be upon you, from where have you come and what do you
seek? And they said to him, we have come from such-and-such a place and we saw
there a very great wonder, we wanted to tell the King
so that the King would know
The King said to them, what did you see? Tell me
They said to him, we saw a certain very high mountain and on top of the mountain
we saw a certain large tree and its branches were very numerous
and on top of the tree we saw a certain palace built as a building
beautiful and good, and at the entrance of the palace we saw a certain eagle
very large and he was sitting at the entrance of the palace and that
eagle was guarding the palace and that eagle was
very large and anyone who saw him would be very
afraid of him, and that eagle was sitting at the entrance of the palace
and was guarding the palace day and night and would not allow
any person to enter inside that palace -

And other than that, gold that was in the hand of thousands -
that he had sent to him and placed upon him and no
one knew that it was with him except him, and he
himself would say to them that he had nothing useful for anyone
no partnership, and he delivered to him and delivered to them and other than that
he said kaffayn and likewise that and other than that -
as it was with him and that it was in the year two thousand

Saul Aziz told me to write a paper to Khawaja
David Kadoorie to inform him of this news, and I wrote
to him and sent the paper with the aforementioned Saul
In response to what he ordered, there reached me from him
a letter of acknowledgment of the health and safety of the arrival
of that after its descent, may that be in goodness
and along with the paper sent from Baghdad to brother Saleh
son of David. And let it not be hidden from you the entry of the Sabbath and this news
reached us. Your father is the writer of this, and peace be upon you
and upon everyone who seeks refuge with you, and the blessing of God be upon you

We the undersigned admit, we the undersigned, how
we have compromised with a whole heart and a willing soul
neither under duress nor as aforementioned, to the hands of the honorable David Salem Isaac
may he rest in peace, regarding the business of the partnership that we had with him and with the deceased
his brother, the honorable Salah Isaac, may he rest in peace, whether money or deeds
or goods and all types of claims, arguments, and responses
which we have against them from the day the world was created until now
and from now and forever, there remains for us against them no
claim, argument, or response at all or in essence, and we have received
from them a sum of twenty-five thousand and four hundred
rupees in cash, and we have acquired from the hand of the honorable David Isaac
the aforementioned, with a complete and finished acquisition from now, not
as a mere promise and not as a form of documents, with the cancellation
of all notifications and notifications of notifications until the end of all notifications
and because we received the aforementioned sum, we swore a severe
oath by a handshake by the will of the Place [God] blessed be He and by
the will of those who swear in truth, not to sue and not to challenge
the honorable David Isaac aforementioned and the heirs of his deceased brother
the honorable Salah Isaac may he rest in peace, with any claim, argument, or response
in the world, whether in the laws of Israel or in the laws of the nations of the world
and anyone who initiates a lawsuit against him, even the cloak upon
his shoulder shall be taken from him, and this was on the day ⟦...⟧

Here is Sunday, the source for the orge on
after five days had passed since the presence of Salman Agha
The honorable Mr. Baba Hezekiel Isaac and Daoud Khazouri Shamash
And I, the humble one, had business in the market and happened upon them
and I greeted them
And Daoud Agha Juma'a rode and walked ⟦...⟧ Khazouri Shamash to
to their house, and each one went to his business and the transporters
Yesterday, Monday morning, the transporter came and brought a paper
from Ibn Ezra saying: ride today, Tuesday, here
They called out a crier in the market: whoever wants to travel
should catch up with the caravan that traveled on Friday
So we, God Almighty willing, shall travel on Tuesday morning
or after it with whoever of the group agrees, all is well God willing
On Monday, Khazouri, Murad, and Saleh Yosef went out, and the transporter brought them horses on Tuesday
so they go up to catch the caravan, and we will go up after them on Wednesday or Thursday
God Almighty willing, we will write to you the news of our safe arrival, and peace be upon you
and upon those who seek refuge with you, and peace
Likewise, today's news - a letter arrived from Baghdad
saying Daoud Agha Juma'a arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday
completing the 17th of Ab by foot. The transporter had ridden
and the news of the safe arrival reached us, and we were extremely pleased
This, I was about to write to you since Tuesday as I mentioned
that the caravan left on Friday and the crier called out
whoever wants to catch the caravan should go out on Monday, so a group went out
on Monday, and the transporter's paper from Baghdad says Daoud Agha Juma'a
arrived on Wednesday safely and we were extremely pleased, so we go up on
Thursday safely and we travel in the safety of God with whoever agrees, and peace

Question: Good tidings. Here, Reuben etc. gave Levi a thousand rupees.
And if he wants to travel, he wants from him a thousand from half of the profit for the other
On the day that he asks of him, Almighty, that, and there was a paper in Arabic between us
And now that is dead.
The answer: The right of Reuben is established from the hand of Levi, and Reuben's money with Levi is a trust.
And it is said: that on condition that Reuben does not want to travel.
<del>But because he travels, that condition is void and he returns</del>
<del>The profit until the month of Nisan in the year 5660, and from the day he travels</del>
<del>For the profit, he is not entitled to half of the good in the thousand rupees</del>
And he has one share in full
He shall go from him as much as ⟦...⟧ because he reached the destination
From him ⟦...⟧ through the violation of the condition, so he is not entitled
To the guarantee of good, nor from him extra, and they have vowed until the day he travels
From him in a thousand, and he is not entitled to half the profit, and likewise
<del>Extra from him, no guarantee of good, and they have vowed until the day he travels</del>
<del>He to the guarantee of ⟦...⟧ and stood for his sake except the good he travels</del>
Without substitute, and we have seen the signature
The first statement: he is not entitled to take from him a single dinar ⟦...⟧
<del>What he wants and the guarantee of profit went from him until the day</del>
If he entered into Baghdad, he wants to go up ⟦...⟧ the first statement
<del>So he is not entitled except for the principal of his money only, and likewise and likewise</del>
The words are correct and clear, and he does not want, Rahamim bar Yosef
⟦...⟧

⟦...⟧ With G-d's help ⟦...⟧
⟦...⟧
And he wrapped as appropriate threshing sledges from the words of <del>wrongdoers</del> as well as David said
⟦...⟧ he rode as a threshing sledge came straight from as well
And from his side another time as well <del>in the sum of</del> <del>⟦...⟧</del> gold
he rode as a thousand they left and the matter of his words the reason of the people of the land
And he wrapped as they sat and they stretched the sum without a dinar
Like a man who was cut off, a camel a thousand for deposit as well as a hiring
And like stars and a village and he clarified his metaphor in his hour before he dies
The sum without frowning, a child of their prayer and a judge wrapped
him with a thousand dinars and he was a man who crossed dangerously from the
like his palm to cross the creator of all evils Isaac may his memory be a blessing
the... as they sat and wrapped the difference of the assembly prayer
sins they write them in a scroll and they repent from them
And whoever returns more for his height the wisdom of the camel to the as well
And he was like taking much and like his abundance and he was broken and we bowed
he said to him because one man shall cross like a Jew more
greatness
And from that day the creator of all the generations shall cross as he is delayed
who died with this 9 his possessions remained a man
another unless very far and there a man very much from
we shall reign over ⟦...⟧ they remained for him like his garment ⟦...⟧
And the study included was the chair of Rabbi Moshe Gaon of blessed memory like
whoever has in the end in his name as the measure of a generation may He be blessed

Tuesday night 12/25 20th of Kislev 1931
A male son was born to me at 11:15 at night and we called his name
Yehezkel, may God keep him alive and raise him for Torah, for the wedding canopy, and for good deeds, Amen.
And so on Sunday the 21st of the month of Shevat 5692 we performed the Redemption of the Son for him
By the honored Kohen, Mr. Eliyahu HaKohen, and we gave him
Five silver Sela'im, which are five and a half silver Rubies.
And so the Kohen blessed the aforementioned child and we also blessed him
May the Living God bless the child and grant him the merit of Torah, the wedding canopy, and good
deeds, Amen and Amen. Also on that night we made for him
an honorary name and we also made a new cradle for him and silver vessels
upon the cradle according to the good hand of God upon us
In good luck and in a time of blessing and success.
May it be the will of the One who dwells in the habitation that He raise him for Torah, for the wedding canopy
and for good deeds, Amen, forever and ever.
Another male son was born to us on the Holy Sabbath day at seven o'clock
in the morning on the seventeenth day of the month of Nisan in the year 5694
and we called his name in Israel Menashe, may God keep him alive and raise him
for Torah, for the wedding canopy, and for good deeds, Amen, may it be the will
of our Father in Heaven that He grant us the merit to see his wedding canopy and his children
and his grandchildren occupied with Torah and commandments, Amen.

Say, O Merciful, oh Merciful One save us from this plague, for it was
the Friday on which we read Parashat Behaalotecha in the year
5691, according to the counting of the documents one thousand and 349
Kislev, the people of Baghdad <del>⟦illegible⟧</del> that day, one sees nothing
but the slain, and death, and graves, and thousands of people died, may the Merciful One
have mercy <del>⟦illegible⟧</del>
On Tuesday, those whom they buried under the wall outside
the city, they buried them without shrouds and without embalming, and the dog eats
every infant and small child who cries for his mother, and every adult who cries for
his wife, and many scholars and rabbis died, and not one remained
to bury the dead, and they cast them in the road or they throw them
into the well, Heaven forbid.
And I write this paper and I do not have even 10 dirhams worth of barley nor
wheat, and hunger in it screams like ⟦...⟧ and death picks them off
in every place, oh Lord, oh Forgiving One, have mercy on us and give patience to
our hearts, for a hundred thousand souls have died among them from
hunger and death and destruction, and I ask of You, O Lord of the Universe,
to have mercy on us with love and look after us and give us beautiful patience
from You, O God, O Lord, O Generous, O Merciful, O Gracious One.
And how many cry in it like a madwoman because so many of her infants and
children and.. died, and in our neighborhood 25 thousand men died ⟦...⟧ said
Daniel said, and in ⟦...⟧ they buried outside the city in the wilderness.
What shall I tell you, my brother, because of the hunger that was among us, Heaven forbid
upon us and upon all Israel, and I have written it while my tears run down my cheeks,
and I am but a guide and I am in ⟦...⟧ and this great thing happened to us
it is from our hands and His name.

Page 115

And I in the presence of the King. In the glory he intends to resolve the justifications
to bring out and to resolve as a root he did not know from where we know it is forbidden
but because of the sin of the dust of the Torah ⟦revealed⟧... bringing out and and... like this
as grievances against him he did not know but behold he is expert in... that there is
the end of the verse it is written in it which thinned anger as a reward
<del>⟦illegible⟧</del> and he did not know but that he did not know from where we know and the Joseph returned
descended to Egypt and Joseph descended and he descended from heaven to the land of Egypt
shining of the descent of Shechem and Egypt is implied that it is called land
(returned) that it was to be called the land of the generation etc. but from... etc.
⟦line⟧
and when he did not know he returned to justify anger he kept because of...
when he knew he had pain anger ⟦...⟧ but
anger he kept and an allusion and he did not know he returned anger ⟦...⟧
but reward has two meanings, looking back on all this
⟦line⟧
And thus it seems to me the main explanation and according to what is explicit it seems that so it is
the explanation of the word 'and he dwelt there' for it seems to me according to everything as explained
in the section 'Lech' and he loved to know that he knew without ⟦...⟧ he knew it is possible
⟦...⟧ of the generation etc. and it answers this comes to teach us he returned to know etc.
it is said that he knew that there are two explanations in it, one retroactive and one for its own sake
that which he explains and says the reward of every guardian and keeper but as a guardian
and it can be said that this is not explained except because he already explained it
retroactively <del>⟦...⟧</del> the word 'and he dwelt' and said he knew but when he said
the word 'and he dwelt' it implies to him because it should have been read plainly
why do I need that he wrote 'and he dwelt there' for he could have written it
⟦line⟧
but thus it seems to me that everyone who explains the word 'and he dwelt' outside when he said
it implies that when he explains but... explains the word 'and he dwelt'
why do I need that he wrote the Chronicles as a reward from God the Guardian

As for how this is done: similarly, it is written on a piece of
paper, and in its center, you write nine circles. One
<del>⟦illegible⟧</del> in its center Aleph, in the second Bet, in the third Gimel,
in the fourth Dalet, in the fifth He, in the sixth Vav,
in the seventh Zayin, in the eighth Het, and in the ninth Tet.
And write in the margin around the circles this Surah:
"By the sky containing great stars, and by the promised day, and by the witness and what is witnessed,
<del>⟦illegible⟧</del> cursed were the companions of the trench [containing] the fire full of fuel, when they
were sitting near it, and they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. And they
resented them not except that they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,
to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness.
Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented
will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire. Indeed, those who
have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow.
That is the great attainment. Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.
Indeed, it is He who originates and repeats. And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, Honorable Owner of the Throne,
Effecter of what He intends. Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -
[of] Pharaoh and Thamud? But those who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial, while Allah,
from encompassment behind them, is surrounding. But this is an honored Qur'an [inscribed] in a Preserved Slate."
And perfume that paper with good incense and hang it upon
the one who has the ailment; he shall recover by Allah's permission.
And the secret of this Surah is that it is written on a piece of white paper on
Friday at the time of the meridian, and this sacred Surah is written in a circle,
and in its center these letters are written: ABGDEHVZHT, and this paper
is perfumed with good incense and hung on the sick person, for he shall recover
by the permission of Allah Exalted. And if the sick person is in ⟦the perfect eye⟧, then
this Surah is written in a glass bowl and erased with rose water,
and that sick person is given it to drink, for he shall recover by the permission of Allah Exalted.
Then this Surah is written on a piece of paper and hung on the sick person,
for he shall recover by the permission of Allah Exalted.
And if the ailment is in the head, then this Surah is written on
a piece of paper and hung on the head, for he shall recover by the permission of Allah
Exalted, and it is a very great secret.

And the writing that is on that side would be
hidden, secret speech that whoever enters such-and-such a house, there would be
that thing for him, and he was confused about that. When he saw that thing
in the house, he came and asked Rav Eliezer about what he saw and recounted to him
⟦...⟧ that, so he said to him: O my son, that thing is the cause of a scent,
and my father <del>the holy Rav</del> already told me,
<del>which was in the house of a man called Ibn Zakhari</del>,
that the house of so-and-so in that land contains a buried treasure
from ancient times, so let him return and take that.
And that Ibn Zakhari possessed very abundant wealth,
and he was always occupied in trade and did not stay in a house,
nor did he want to marry, so he used to travel from country to country and
carry his wealth with him in a leather bucket with his clothes in the chest,
and the bucket was full of gold, and on top were clothes and shoes and what-
not. So Rav Eliezer said to him: O my son, that gold found
in the bucket consists of gold dinars, all of it round gold,
except that in its center is one dinar whose weight is a rotl, and it is made
with magic, and that dinar cannot be separated from
that gold at all, and if it is separated from it, it returns to it. And
this story took place in the time of the Caliph Al-Mu'tasim Billah,
and that dinar had a shine without craftsmanship like the sun in the
eye, and that dinar was returned and went back to its place
as he said:

Regarding the dispute between Rabbi Menashe Zechariah Yitzhak, may his light shine, and
Rabbi David Avraham Sofer, may his light shine, regarding the partnership they had
concerning the Iraq stall they share in the ⟦...⟧ market
And behold, on the said day we sat and examined their accounts
and we found that the said Rabbi Menashe owes the said Rabbi David a sum
of approximately thirteen and a half English pounds, in addition
to what is due to him from the deeds and ledgers that remained in the hands
of the said Rabbi Menashe and are shared by both of them, and behold
they reached a compromise between them such that from now on the said Rabbi David has

And as proof, we have come to sign on the said day.
And the condition they stipulated between them is that all the deeds and ledgers remaining
in the hand of the said Menashe belong to him alone and the said Rabbi David has
no right or part in them at all, only that the said Rabbi Menashe is obligated
to pay the said Rabbi David a sum of four English pounds to settle
all the said accounts and claims, and we performed a formal acquisition from the said Rabbi David

Interpretation of Surah ash-Shams (The Sun and its Brightness), Meccan
And the saying of the Exalted, "By the sun and its brightness," meaning its light
"And the moon when it follows it," meaning follows it in light
"And the day when it displays it," meaning the darkness is cleared
by the rising of the sun; and it is said the world is displayed by light
"And the night when it covers it," meaning it covers the light of day
with darkness; "And the heaven and He who built it," meaning He who
built it, and He is God the Exalted; "And the earth and He who
spread it," meaning He who spread it out, and He is God the Exalted
"And a soul and He who proportioned it," meaning He who created the souls
and proportioned them, as the Exalted said: "Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you"
"Then He inspired it with its wickedness and its righteousness," meaning He made known to it
good and evil, so it chose what it willed of them
"He has succeeded who purifies it," meaning purifies his soul from sins
"And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]," meaning hides it in disobedience
"Thamud denied by their transgression," meaning by their disbelief and tyranny
"When the most wretched of them was sent forth," and he is Qudar bin Salif
the hamstrung of the she-camel; "And the Messenger of Allah," who is
Salih, peace be upon him, "said to them: [It is] the she-camel of Allah and its drink"

From the cannon he entered the warehouse on Friday 26 Av in the year 5688
And the door was locked, it was not possible to open the door except by order
From the governor, how is it that he is the one who sued Dawood Hai
The broker, how did he enter without Yehezkel's permission and opened the door
And paid the money to the one who was demanding the money from him, and I
Have already asked the broker
Asking him: Why do you do such a thing? Do you not fear the government?
And he answered me: According to what the law commands. And I
Was present with the key in my hand, and Menahem stopped
Salih, the overseer, and sat at the door of the warehouse, and I
Was saying to him: O my brother, let me go and lock the
Warehouse, and he would not respond to my words, and after that Yehezkel came
Until he saw that and ran to the governor and informed
Him of the matter, and told him that Dawood traveled to
Basra, and I cannot travel until Yehezkel comes
And takes the response by petition from the governor to the court
In that regard, and he traveled without reporting, informing the broker of that
And we did not know until Yehezkel came with the paper in his hand from the governor
And the broker received the money from Yehezkel and paid the money
That was owed to the one demanding it from him on that day, Tuesday 23
Av in the year 5688, and I cannot write anything to him until
I go to Baghdad and check the ledgers and know what was
Between me and the aforementioned, and if God wills we shall obtain permission
After that we will write a response to him via Yehezkel and pay him
What is owed by us for the freight costs, and God is the Knower.

Similarly, a dinar is exchanged for a thousand dinars, and this
dinar would not be worth more than a quarter of a dirham.
Likewise, a person may be righteous, religious, and good, and another
may be bad, exchanged from gold for a thousand dinars. Likewise,
the association, if one of gold falls from it, it would only be
a dirham, and it would not be gold that is not worth
capital.
A person who is a merchant and has wealth, likewise he should
have good character, and by God, except for the labor that would be
religious and not naked, and the labor would be less than a dinar,
except one for him, and if he had wealth likewise. And whoever
has goodness, and a wicked son is born to him, the
wealth will not benefit you, nor will it benefit another son.
Likewise, it will be in his hand, this Jeremiah, the son of Irdakh,
