His Excellency, the Honorable President of the Corporeal Council
Greetings,
I would like to inform you that the amount previously allocated by your council to this society for distribution to the poor,
the needy, and the Jews living in shelters, amounting to (3276.000) Dinars, was not sufficient to meet the needs, and there remains
a large number of them in dire need of assistance sufficient to sustain them and rescue them from the starvation surrounding them.
Therefore, we suggest that your esteemed council provide us with an amount of 800.000 Dinars so that this need can be met
and many families can be rescued from the clutches of hunger.
Please accept the expression of our highest respect.

To the Presidency of the Respected Jewish Cemeteries Association
Greetings and respect,
Further to your letter numbered 307 and dated December 6, 1948.
We wish to inform you that the Ministry of Finance has obtained a judgment against the community regarding the removal of the encroachment
located on the State-owned plot sequence 188 / 326, with an area of (200.57 m2), where
this area was included in the Jewish cemetery located on Sheikh Omar Street by
your association when it fenced the cemetery in August 1944. As a result of the mediation by the Community Presidency, the Ministry
of Finance agreed, in its letter numbered 6384 dated 20 / 7 / 1949, to transfer ownership of this encroached-upon
piece to the community free of charge since it was used for burial purposes; however, it will result in an obligation for the community
to pay approximately 450 Dinars to the Ministry of Finance, as detailed below.
Dinars | Fils
108 | 463 for the expenses incurred by the Ministry of Finance in the lawsuit filed against the community,
according to the letter from the Baghdad Provincial Administration numbered 18982 dated
24 / 10 / 1949.
188 | 335 for the occupational rent of the encroached piece from 21 / 1 / 1947 to the date
of completion of the transfer, according to the letter from the Baghdad Provincial Administration numbered
17580 dated 26 / 9 / 1949.
153 | 202 for the occupational rent for the period from 1 / 8 / 1944 (i.e., the start of encroachment during fencing)
to 21 / 1 / 1947, according to the estimation of Mr. Zion Gigi, Lawyer and member of the
Lay Council.
⟦line⟧
450 | 000 Four hundred and fifty Dinars
And since your association carried out this fencing which resulted in the encroachment, we request that you kindly disburse this
amount to the Lay Council's treasury, as it is no secret to your association that this expenditure pertains to
your association, in addition to what you know regarding the Lay Council's treasury suffering from a large financial deficit.
Therefore, we request approval to disburse this amount as soon as possible so that we can pay it to the Ministry of
Finance to proceed with the ownership transfer process at the earliest opportunity; otherwise, the Ministry of Finance will execute the issued judgment.
