the General Council to hold an extraordinary meeting on the evening of Thursday 21 August 941 to elect
to elect the Council anew. Based on the lack of a quorum in the first meeting, I invited the Council
to hold a second meeting on the evening of Wednesday the 27th of it. Forty members of the
Council attended the meeting and the election took place. His Eminence Rabbi

Election of the Israeli Spiritual Council in Baghdad
Last Wednesday evening, forty members out of a total of sixty members of the
General Council met at the community administration to elect the Spiritual Council for the next four years. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of
His Eminence Rabbi Sassoon Khedhouri, President of the Jewish Community in Baghdad. The result was that the
Council elected His Eminence Rabbi Benjamin Hakham Moshe to the Chief Rabbinate and the presidency of the Spiritual Council
by a majority of 38 votes. The following were elected to the membership of the Spiritual Council: Their Eminences Rabbi Salman Hoqi
Aboudi, Rabbi Raphael Isaac Hayyim, Rabbi Yehoshua Moshe, Rabbi Sassoon Isaac,
Rabbi David Ezra Musaffi by a majority of 39 votes each, and Rabbi Eliyahu Yeshu'a and Rabbi
David ⟦Shaul⟧ Awal by a majority of 38 votes.
