Mr. G. Asher,

London, W.1.
Dear Mr. Asher,
I have received with thanks your letter of 18th February
in which you mention that Mr. A. Bagley of Birmingham has spoken to
you about the need of my school for English books.
I would like to thank Mr. Bagley for his kind gesture
and I thank you as well for your interest and for the attention you
have given to my school.
Mr. Bagley visited my school while he was in Bagdad
last November. He saw the school library and was kind enough to
tell me that he would try and get some books for us from England
through some of the educational institutions which might have a
surplus of books for contribution.
To give you an idea of the standard of education of
my school, I may tell you that in this school we admit students of
both sexes and of all ages between 6 years and 17 years. Students
start to learn English at the age of 10 and reach, more or less, the
G.C.E. standard at the age of 17.
Any books of educational or cultural value in any
field, except the political field, would be accepted with thanks.
Good novels would interest our students very much.
Thanking you for your cooperation, I close with my
best regards to you.
Sincerely yours
