His Excellency Mr. Jamil Abdul Wahab
The Honorable Minister of Social Affairs
After greetings and respect,
I would like to present to Your Excellency the case of the tuberculosis patient Ilham Karji, who is currently receiving medical treatment
at the Dahr al-Basheq Sanatorium in Lebanon.
This patient is the son of one of the servants of the administration of the Jewish Community in Baghdad.
He traveled to Lebanon six months ago for treatment there, with the help of a group of
benevolent people who donated a sum of money to him. Now that all the donations he collected have been exhausted,
and he still needs medical treatment, and given the hardship his family in
Baghdad is suffering from, and knowing Your Excellency's compassion for these
miserable people, I have seen fit to request your kindness in extending a helping hand to him by ordering the necessary
arrangements to be made so that he may continue his treatment in his sanatorium in Lebanon at the expense of your
venerable Ministry.
I especially hope that the case of this tuberculosis patient receives the attention it deserves from
Your Excellency. May you remain a support for the wretched.
Please accept the assurance of my highest respect.
Sincerely,
Sassoon

⟦illegible⟧ Mr. ⟦illegible⟧ Respected
Mr. ⟦line⟧
Blessed greetings
Since the newspaper "Al-Wahda Al-Arabiya" (Arab Unity), which seeks to achieve the goals of the Arab nation in freedom and sovereignty
and union, and based on the necessity of strengthening these national bonds between all sisterly Arab countries, and given
the importance of this sacred national mission sought by eighty million Arabs in their various homelands,
this newspaper has taken upon itself — after relying on God and the support of free Arabs — to address
the Arab cause from all its sides and to care for all these countries in a way that leads to national rapprochement and common
understanding for the sake of liberation from the yoke of backwardness and colonialism. Therefore, it has organized questions in this regard to be directed from
time to time to the people of opinion from the Arab nation, including kings, princes, leaders, greats, and writers of various
bodies and parties, and to all those concerned in all Arab homelands to achieve the sole wish of the Arabs
"Arab Unity" gradually according to developments and capabilities through intellectual exchange and literary consultation
which generates social harmony and national coalition between all these sisterly peoples. Therefore, we hope you will kindly
answer the attached question. May God fulfill the hopes of the Arabs?
Q: What is the position of Iraq's Jews
on Arab Unity?
On behalf of the board of Al-Wahda Al-Arabiya Newspaper
Sincerely,
Jalal Al-Orfali

Dear respected Professor Jalal Al-Orfali
You ask me about the position of the Jews of Iraq regarding Arab unity, and I thank you for giving me this opportunity
to declare my opinion on this serious matter, and I say that the position of the Jews of Iraq regarding Arab unity
does not differ at all from the position of all other Iraqis, for the Jews of Iraq have lived in this country
throughout long generations and were always connected to the sons of this homeland by bonds of brotherhood and interest
commonality, and they always feel the same sentiment felt by their brothers among the sons of this homeland
and their position toward Arab unity and all other national issues has been and will always be the zealous position
for the interests of this country, believing in its national aspirations and striving for its glory, progress, and prosperity
In conclusion, I wish you all the best and success in your services, and please accept my highest respect

My dear and honored master, Hakham Sassoon, may his light shine - Baghdad
In the name of my friend Eliezer Nahum and also from myself, we wish to thank you for all the effort you made
regarding the matter of the car and for your help, because of which it was ready quickly and we sent it
to you and you received the licenses in time, and we also received from Hakham Ezra Hakham Sassoon the letter
he wrote to us informing us that you received the car and he also blessed us and his blessing is accepted
especially from a sage like him, from an honest and good man whose memory is for good and may it be [God's] will that he merits
to lead his honored grandson to the right path and may all his deeds be successful
Hakham Sassoon, you were the mediator in getting this car out. This car
was one of the best cars we have now and we made
great profits on it, and likewise Hakham Ezra's car is also among the best cars
that we sent, and yet Hakham Ezra sent us a letter in which he complains about the car
We said Hakham Ezra is a good man and an honest man, so how could he write us such a letter
that has no substance at all and all his words are incorrect, and surely someone misled him
and he believed him, for this car is among the best cars we have
nonetheless we will write him a letter and explain everything to him and there shall be peace between us
Once again we thank you for all the effort you made regarding the matter of this car
and may it be [God's] will that you merit to perform such commandments always
