Frank Iny School and Shamash Secondary School
Academic Year 1956 / 1957
Regarding the Mid-Year Examination February 1957
Teachers and lecturers are kindly requested to note the following and act accordingly:
-1 Please keep the examination booklets, after they have been corrected by the teacher, in the same envelope
in which they were kept when distributed to the students at the time of the exam, after arranging them
according to the students' serial numbers indicated in the name lists of each class to facilitate referring to them
when needed.
-2 Keep at least one copy of the exam questions with the booklets for reference when necessary.
-3 When correcting the examination booklet, the corrector shall list the marks of the separate questions on the outer
cover of the examination booklet, while also writing the marks for the oral components of the subject on it, and
combining these marks with each other so that the final mark (out of 100) is shown on the
booklet cover.
-4 Each teacher shall record the mid-year exam marks for the exam subject in their grade file
and submit the examination booklets and the grade file to the administration immediately after completing the correction.
-5 Teachers are requested to correct the booklets day by day so that the deadline for submitting grades
for each subject is not delayed by more than one or two days. The administration hopes to complete the recording of grades
and give them to the students on the first day of resuming studies immediately after the mid-year exam,
i.e., on Sunday 10 / 2 / 1957 (for primary classes only).
-6 Since it is intended to give the examination booklets to the students after they have been corrected to review them and know
their mistakes and the marks they obtained in each question, please ensure the
accuracy of the final mark for each subject before recording it on the booklet cover.
-7 When the teacher receives the examination booklets at the end of the exam for each subject, please verify
their number and record that on the envelope in which they are kept, and please also record
the names of the absent students on the envelope as well.

Instructions regarding the mid-year examination and first semester grades (for intermediate
and secondary classes only).
The teachers, female teachers, and lecturers are requested to note the following and act accordingly:
First - Submit the average grades for the second quarter of the school year (i.e., the average for January and February)
and the average grades for the first half of the current school year during the week starting on
Sunday morning, February 24, 1957, provided that this is not delayed beyond Tuesday,
February 26, 1957, so that the administration can record these grades in the school registers and grade
cards and distribute them to students before the mid-year examination.
Second - The mid-year examination begins on Friday, March 8, 1957, and ends at the close of Friday,
March 15, 1957, as announced in the mid-year examination schedule, followed by a three-day
holiday starting Saturday, March 16, 1957, and ending at the close of Monday, March 18, 1957. Accordingly,
studies will resume after the holiday on the morning of Tuesday, March 19, 1957.
Thursday, March 7, 1957, will be a holiday immediately preceding the examination for intermediate
and secondary classes only.
Third - Oral examinations for subjects requiring such exams are to be conducted during regular classes
at a suitable time before the mid-year examination appointed by the teacher for the students, provided this does not affect
the school's workflow in terms of discipline.
Fourth - The mid-year examination schedule has been posted in the teachers' room; please review it immediately and contact
the assistant to provide any observations requested by teachers in this regard to finalize the schedule and make it
final before Wednesday, February 20, 1957.
Fifth - The administration is ready to provide every teacher or lecturer with Roneo paper and Stencil
should they wish to print the questions. The teacher must personally type the questions on the typewriter
or write them by hand on the Stencil paper and supervise the printing and burning of drafts,
as the administration wishes to limit the responsibility for printing questions to the teacher.
Sixth - Please submit the mid-year examination questions to the administration before Wednesday, February 27, 1957,
in one copy only if the teacher decides to print them via Roneo, and in three copies otherwise.
The writing of the questions must be very clear, and a separate question sheet must be provided for each subject and each class
individually. Each question sheet must be titled according to the arrangement shown below and according to the language

Ninth - It is expected that every teacher will complete the grading of mid-year exam booklets immediately after the exam for each subject on a day-by-day basis and within the school, provided that the deadline for submitting the grades of these exams is no later than Friday, 3/10/1957, which is the day the mid-year exams end. This is so the administration can record the grades in the registers, calculate averages, and distribute them to students immediately upon their return after the mid-year exam.
Tenth - The administration expects the teachers to be careful to keep the results of the mid-year exams confidential from the students and from any person unrelated to the subject of the exam before these results are announced to the students by the administration, and not to allow any person to interfere or mediate in helping any student without merit.
Eleventh - The administration expects every proctor to pay full attention in monitoring the students and to thwart every attempt at cheating that might be carried out by those students accustomed to such attempts.

Regarding the Mid-Year Examination February 1957
Teachers and lecturers are requested to note the following and act accordingly:
- 1 | Please keep the exam booklets, after they have been corrected by the teacher, in the same envelope in which they were kept when distributed to the students at the time of the exam, after arranging them according to the students' serial numbers indicated in the name lists for each class to facilitate referencing them when needed.
- 2 | Keep at least one copy of the exam questions with the booklets for reference when necessary.
- 3 | When correcting the exam booklet, the corrector shall list the marks for the various questions on the outer cover of the exam booklet, while also writing the oral component marks for the subject on it and adding these marks together so that the final mark (out of 100) is shown on the booklet cover.
- 4 | Each teacher shall record the mid-year exam marks for the subject in their grade file and submit the exam booklets and the grade file to the administration immediately after completing the correction.
- 5 | Teachers are requested to correct the booklets day by day so that the deadline for submitting grades for each subject is not delayed by more than one or two days. The administration hopes to complete the recording of grades and give them to the students on the first day of resuming classes immediately after the mid-year exam, i.e., on Sunday 10 / 2 / 1957 (for elementary classes only).
- 6 | Since the intention is to give the exam booklets to the students after correction for them to review and know their mistakes and the marks they received for each question, please ensure the accuracy of the final mark for each subject before recording it on the booklet cover.
- 7 | Upon receiving the exam booklets at the end of the exam for each subject, please verify their number and record it on the envelope in which they are kept, and also please record the names of the absent students on the envelope as well.

Instructions regarding the mid-year examination for primary classes only
The teachers, instructors, and lecturers are requested to note the following and act accordingly:
First - The mid-year examination for primary classes only begins on Sunday, February 3, 1957, and ends
at the end of Thursday, 7 / 2 / 1957, as announced in the mid-year examination schedule.
Friday, 8 / 2 / 1957, will be a holiday for primary school students only.
Second - Oral examinations in Arabic, English, French, and Religion are to be held for all classes as
announced in the mid-year examination schedule, provided that each teacher informs the students a week before
the oral exam. Teachers who examine students during regular school days,
if necessary, are requested to conduct their oral exams during the lesson assigned
to that subject without affecting the daily teaching progress and without removing the
examined students from their classrooms. The teacher must notify the administration of the date of that oral exam.
Third - The administration is ready to provide every teacher or lecturer with roneo and stencil paper
if they wish to print the questions. They must personally type the questions on the typewriter
or write them by hand on the Stencil paper, supervise the printing, and burn the drafts.
This is because the administration wishes the responsibility for printing the questions to rest solely with the teacher.
Fourth - Please submit the mid-year examination questions to the administration before Friday, 25 / 1 / 1957,
in one copy only if the teacher decides to print them via roneo, and in three copies if decided otherwise.
The writing of the questions must be very clear. A separate question sheet should be placed for each subject and each class
individually. Each question paper should be titled according to the arrangement shown below and according to
the language used in the questions.

Sixth - Students of each class shall be examined in their own rooms except for students of the fifth grade (A) primary, who shall sit
with the students of the sixth grade primary on the upper floor.
Seventh - Grading of the mid-year exam notebooks is to be carried out immediately after the exam for each subject
and inside the school, and the grades are delivered to the administration immediately upon completion of grading the notebooks,
as for the case if the exam is oral, such as the exams for the primary grades, the
grades are delivered to the administration immediately after the end of the exam and before the departure of the teacher (female or male)
from the school on 그 day.
Eighth - The advisor of each primary grade class must come to the school on Friday,
8/2/1957 at eight-thirty in the morning to transfer the grades of his class students into the registers
and the students' grade cards, provided that this work is completed on the same day so that the administration can
distribute the grade cards to the students on the morning of Sunday, 10/2/1957.
The administration will consider failure to attend on the mentioned day to perform this task a dereliction
of the duties of the defaulting teacher.
