Frank Iny School and Shamash Preparatory School
Academic Year 1955 / 1956
Instructions regarding the mid-year exam and first semester grades
Mesdames and Messieurs teachers and lecturers are requested to note the following and act accordingly.
First - Submission of the average grades for the second quarter of the school year (i.e., the average of December and January)
and the average grades for the first half of the current school year during the week starting on
Sunday morning, January 22, 1956, provided that this is not delayed beyond Friday,
January 27, 1956, so that the administration can record these grades in the school registers and grade
cards and distribute them to students before the mid-year exam.
Second - The mid-year exam begins on Friday, February 17, 1956, and ends at the close of Friday,
February 24, 1956, as announced in the mid-year exam schedule, followed by a three-day holiday
starting Saturday, February 25, 1956, and ending at the close of Monday, February 27, 1956. Therefore, classes will begin
again after the holiday on the morning of Tuesday, February 28, 1956. Thursday,
February 16, 1956, will be a holiday immediately preceding the exam. Tuesday and Wednesday,
February 14 and 15, 1956, are designated for conducting oral exams for classes that require these exams,
and these two days are considered holidays for the rest of the classes.
Third - Oral exams are held in Arabic, English, French, and Religion for all classes as
announced in the mid-year exam schedule, provided that each teacher informs the students a week before
the oral exam. Teachers who examine students during regular school days,
if necessary and required, are requested to conduct their oral exams during the lesson assigned to them without
affecting the course of daily instruction.
Fourth - The mid-year exam schedule has been posted in the teachers' room. Please review it immediately and contact the assistant
to provide any comments requested by teachers in this regard to finalize the schedule and make it definitive before
Friday, January 27, 1956.
Fifth - The administration is ready to provide every teacher or lecturer with Roneo paper and Stencils
should they wish to print the questions. They must type the questions themselves on the typewriter or write them
by hand on the Stencil paper and supervise the printing and burn the drafts, as the administration wishes
the responsibility for printing the questions to rest solely with the teacher.
Sixth - Please submit the mid-year exam questions to the administration before Friday, February 3, 1956, in one
copy only if the teacher decides to print them by Roneo, and in three copies if they decide otherwise, provided that the
writing of the questions is very clear. A separate question sheet should be placed for each subject and each class individually. Each
question sheet should be titled according to the arrangement shown below and according to the language used in the questions,
replacing the phrase (Frank Iny School) with the phrase (Shamash Preparatory School) if the exam is for students of
the fourth or fifth preparatory classes.
