Academic Year 1956 / 1957
Regarding the Mid-Year Exam <del>February</del> March 1957
Teachers and lecturers are requested to note the following and act accordingly:
1- Please keep the examination papers, after they have been corrected by the teacher, in the same envelope in which they were kept when distributed to the students at the time of the exam, after arranging them according to the students' serial numbers indicated in the name lists of each class to facilitate reference to them when needed.
2- Keep at least one copy of the exam questions with the papers for reference when necessary.
3- When correcting the examination paper, the corrector shall enter the grades for the various questions on the outer cover of the examination paper, while also writing the oral grades for the subject on it, and adding these grades together so that the final grade (out of 100) is shown on the cover of the paper.
4- Each teacher records the mid-year exam grades for the exam subject in his grade file and submits the examination papers and the grade file to the administration immediately after completing the correction.
5- It is requested that the papers be corrected by the teachers day by day so that the deadline for submitting grades for each subject is not delayed more than one or two days. The administration hopes to complete the recording of grades and giving them to students on the first day of resuming study immediately after the mid-year exam, i.e., on Sunday 10/2/1957 (for elementary classes only). ⟦8/2/1957⟧
6- Since it is intended to give the examination papers to the students after correction to review them and know their mistakes and the grades they obtained for each of the questions, please ensure the accuracy of the final grade for each subject before recording it on the cover of the paper.
7- When the teacher receives the examination papers at the end of the exam for each subject, please verify their number and record that on the envelope in which they are kept, and please also record the names of absent students on the envelope as well.

Instructions regarding the mid-year examination and first semester grades (for intermediate
and secondary classes only).
The teachers, female teachers, and lecturers are requested to note the following and act accordingly:
First - Submit the average grades for the second quarter of the school year (i.e., the average for January and February)
and the average grades for the first half of the current school year during the week starting on
Sunday morning, February 24, 1957, provided that this is not delayed beyond Tuesday,
February 26, 1957, so that the administration can record these grades in the school registers and grade
cards and distribute them to students before the mid-year examination.
Second - The mid-year examination begins on Friday, March 8, 1957, and ends at the close of Friday,
March 15, 1957, as announced in the mid-year examination schedule, followed by a three-day
holiday starting Saturday, March 16, 1957, and ending at the close of Monday, March 18, 1957. Accordingly,
studies will resume after the holiday on the morning of Tuesday, March 19, 1957.
Thursday, March 7, 1957, will be a holiday immediately preceding the examination for intermediate
and secondary classes only.
Third - Oral examinations for subjects requiring such exams are to be conducted during regular classes
at a suitable time before the mid-year examination appointed by the teacher for the students, provided this does not affect
the school's workflow in terms of discipline.
Fourth - The mid-year examination schedule has been posted in the teachers' room; please review it immediately and contact
the assistant to provide any observations requested by teachers in this regard to finalize the schedule and make it
final before Wednesday, February 20, 1957.
Fifth - The administration is ready to provide every teacher or lecturer with Roneo paper and Stencil
should they wish to print the questions. The teacher must personally type the questions on the typewriter
or write them by hand on the Stencil paper and supervise the printing and burning of drafts,
as the administration wishes to limit the responsibility for printing questions to the teacher.
Sixth - Please submit the mid-year examination questions to the administration before Wednesday, February 27, 1957,
in one copy only if the teacher decides to print them via Roneo, and in three copies otherwise.
The writing of the questions must be very clear, and a separate question sheet must be provided for each subject and each class
individually. Each question sheet must be titled according to the arrangement shown below and according to the language
used in the questions, provided that: the phrase (Frank Iny School) is replaced with (Shamash
Secondary School) if the examination is for fourth or fifth-grade secondary students.

Eighth - During the mid-year exams, students will be distributed across different rooms so that students of each class remain in their own room, provided that some female students of the Third Intermediate sit with students of the Fifth Preparatory, and students of the First French class sit with students of the First English Intermediate in the cinema hall on the upper floor.
Ninth - It is expected that every teacher will complete the grading of mid-year exam booklets immediately after the exam for each subject on a day-by-day basis and within the school, provided that the deadline for submitting the grades of these exams is no later than Friday, 3/10/1957, which is the day the mid-year exams end. This is so the administration can record the grades in the registers, calculate averages, and distribute them to students immediately upon their return after the mid-year exam.
Tenth - The administration expects the teachers to be careful to keep the results of the mid-year exams confidential from the students and from any person unrelated to the subject of the exam before these results are announced to the students by the administration, and not to allow any person to interfere or mediate in helping any student without merit.
Eleventh - The administration expects every proctor to pay full attention in monitoring the students and to thwart every attempt at cheating that might be carried out by those students accustomed to such attempts.
