Statement To the members of the Israelite Community in Baghdad It is important for the esteemed members of the community to know that the Gabelle revenues, despite the small amount the individual pays to the community fund, which is ten fils per kilogram, are what the management of the community's schools, hospitals, and other charitable institutions depend on. For example, the school allocations reached (15225) dinars in the last year, hospitals (4327) dinars, and charitable institutions (8428) dinars. Therefore, the interruption or disruption of this resource due to not buying Kosher meat will inevitably lead to the closure of these institutions that serve the community members of all classes. Since His Eminence Rabbi Sassoon Khadduri has submitted his resignation to His Excellency the Minister of Justice, the President of the Lay Council is managing the affairs of the Community Presidency on an acting basis in accordance with the second paragraph of Article '7' of the Israelite Community Law of 1931. Therefore, I call upon the esteemed members of the community to support and assist us in conducting the affairs of the community, and God is the Granter of success. President of the Lay Council
