An Uninvested Wealth!
Iraq possesses capabilities that make it at the forefront of tourist countries.. its diverse natural landscapes, the variety of environments, its location, and the ancient and rich mix of its monuments and the ruins of the holy shrines it contains, which have their place in the hearts of Muslims all over the world.. all these things make tourism a destination for tourists and visitors.
Tourism today has become a wealth capable of generating the largest resources.. and there are those who consider tourism a primary resource for their economy.
But Iraq, despite these tourism capabilities and qualifications, has not yet invested this rich wealth in an investment that is consistent with these capabilities.
It is necessary to pay attention to this comprehensive investment of our tourism wealth by putting in place a broad and complete plan for this investment process, a planning that takes into account raising the level of summer resorts, centers, and tourist areas, developing and modernizing them, and expanding interest in them on the basis of considering them an integrated unit.. and on the basis of making these areas and places the works that lack other facilities such as electricity, water, roads, markets, and fields of entertainment and culture included in this planning and other than that we can make our summer resorts and our tourist and heritage areas attract tourists to become a destination for visitors and we will not be able to impose the matter with tourism advertisements and joint projects and activities to generate for us the maximum possible of what this rich wealth can generate in terms of resources and hard currencies..

More than a third of a million tourists enter Iraq annually
"Cradle of Humanity" - this is the title that Iraq has carried throughout the ages.
History has not been stingy with anything like the magical and huge names its history is full of: like Babylon with its Hanging Gardens, Ur, and Nineveh from ancient times, and One Thousand and One Nights from the prosperous Islamic era.
And if you want to stand on some of the magic of Baghdad, you can wander in these old markets that are full of wonders, of precious antiques, the likes of which you will not find in any other country.
The Summer Resorts and Tourism Administration is responsible for preparing and developing tourism means and its components in Iraq, and the work of this administration is continuous and comprehensive, as it strives in official tourism organizations in Geneva and the International Arab Union for Tourism in Cairo, and it also works, on the external level, through international institutions such as ASNA and FIAT.
The reality is that the Summer Resorts and Tourism Administration is an administration that only recently began its work after the care given to it by the responsible authorities. The financial statistics for the last three years clarify this:
In the year 1963, the total number of those entering Iraq reached (86,836).
And their number in the year 1964 reached (192,597).
And this number jumped to (368,033) in the year 1965.
Although Iraq is at the forefront of tourism countries in the world in terms of tourism potential, the tourism demand for it did not begin until this recent period we referred to, and after the special care it received from this young industry.
There is no better evidence of this than the words of Dr. Karl Erni Lichtenegger, the Austrian who visited Iraq last year.
He led the past at the head of a large press delegation from Europe. Dr. Lichtenegger said verbatim:
"The millions of tourists who head to other places (other than Iraq) every year are depriving themselves of an important part of the modern world, and depriving themselves at the same time of these sites which are undoubtedly the cradle of ancient civilization and Europe." An International School for Quran Recitation
Prince Abdul Rahman, Prime Minister of Malaysia, announced that his country is considering establishing an international school for the recitation of the Holy Quran. His Highness pointed out that about 10,000 people in a speech he delivered at an international competition for Quran recitation in Kuala Lumpur, that the proposal was issued by the office of the Indian High Commissioner.
Prince Abdul Rahman said that this is evidence of the great focus enjoyed by the Malaysian level in the recitation of the Holy Quran. He added that Malaysia gained this by winning the international competition for seven consecutive years.
Malaysia won the last competition for the year 1966-1967 in both its men's and women's sections.

Based on an agreement with the Berlin House for Egypt, the publishing house named the papyrus Berlin Papyrus 3127. It is 173 centimeters long and 33 centimeters wide, and red, white, black, brown, and green colors were used in its coloring.
The publisher, Professor Siegfried Morenz, wrote a commentary and description of the sheet in German, English, and French.
A Thought
Recent news says that the result of research provided by specialized scientists has increased the scientific tendency to accept the opinion that there is life on the moon.
I am not interested today in anything other than this amazing product, to see it first, and I did not know its size in the second existence, so where are the countries with my wealth or where are the homes of these scientists? And with what face will we face our living colleagues on that small planet?
Will we transfer our evils to them and tell them about the tragedies we left behind on our planet with our own hands and committed as crimes?
Will we transfer to them the politicians, warmongers, and chatterboxes of the type of those who deafen our ears every day with their nonsense?
And if we come to these poor people to fall on their heads that they are in no need of us.
But if someone says that there is a possibility that they are also like us, then despite it being a thought that covers itself, as it means he may have met his likes - even if that is without evidence - that the life of Earth is the worst life on a planet, unless it is true that there is another life in others, and as some said: "Earth was called and man was on it!"

American Judiciary Refuses to Bury Espionage in National Cemeteries
An American federal court in Washington recently rejected a request submitted by defense lawyers for Robert Thompson, the Soviet, and this Thompson is one of the capable militants who dedicated themselves during World War II, but he did not forget that he was one of the communists who were sentenced to ten years in prison and who remained loyal to communism, without any imprisonment or treatment being useful in reforming them until the last days of their lives.
Among what the Chief of the Federal Court, Judge Alexander Holtzoff - 80 years old - said before issuing his decision to refuse the burial:
"It would provoke the disgust of many of the people, and their indignation, to bury a person like Thompson, who had previously betrayed his country, and was convicted of plotting to overthrow the government by force, and inciting among the fighters who were martyred in the battlefields for the sake of their country's desires and orders financially."
It is known that the case of the aforementioned Thompson is one of the cases that stirred, at the time, the United States of America, as it embodied the right to deprive the one who caused damage from being among its national sons.. and quoting the defense's statement about Thompson's rights to burial, before the court, lawyer Louis Simon Speiser, a member of the - Civil Liberties Union - foundation, says that this oversight represented by Thompson's widow, her son, has protested the refusal of burial by saying that there are many veterans who participated in attempts to overthrow the government during the American Civil War, and they were buried in Arlington after their death, despite the past of these people, but Judge Holtzoff rejected this protest, saying that the attempts of these fighters had taken place during exceptional cases and circumstances, officially recognized as having been - a state of war between the American States - themselves.
After that, the lawyer said that there is a prisoner of war who left him buried in this cemetery as well, so the judge replied to him in a stern voice and said, but that German prisoner did not betray his country by forgery.
Thompson had died in October 1965, after reaching the age of fifty. It is known that he worked in a metal mine, and that he was a member of the American Communist Youth League during the thirties, and he is considered the reason for joining military service during World War II, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, for the courage he showed during the battles that took place in the Pacific Ocean, but it seems that Thompson remained loyal to communism after the end of the war, as it was only a short period of time until he was immersed in a whirlpool of communist activity, he was sentenced in 1949 to years in prison on charges of conspiracy to overthrow the government, according to the Smith Act, which aimed to protect communism in America. Then he was sentenced to four more years in prison for similar reasons, and at the same time, officials in the US Army had approved Thompson's burial in Arlington, but Representative Garcy Bennett objected to that, which led the Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara, to cancel the approval for burial, and he also issued special instructions prohibiting the burial of those convicted of crimes aimed at overthrowing the government in national cemeteries.
Lawyer Speiser objected to the Secretary of Defense's instructions, and considered that these instructions and orders cannot be effective just by the approval of the American Secretary to implement a special class of people, providing for the exclusion of criminals who could be burial assistants before Joseph Haun, who rejected this objection, and said that the US Congress had authorized the Secretary of the Army, Mr. Robert McNamara, such instructions before Thompson's death in 1965. Then the Assistant Attorney General added, saying that Thompson was not buried in Arlington Cemetery because of his continuation to the end in his subversive activity only, but also for the purpose of another legal article, which provides for the exclusion of criminals who are sentenced to five years in prison or more from burial in Arlington, and are taken from other national cemeteries.

For Police Dogs and the Vietnam War
Astonishment had taken hold of the American surgeon, Dr. James Chandler, who was performing surgery on the throat of one of the wounded American sailors, when a live rifle bullet of the type that explodes on impact slipped into the palm of his hand.
The wounded soldier is twenty years old, and he had been wounded while performing patrol duties near Da Nang, at the end of last month. The bullet that the surgeon found in his throat was one knot in diameter, and it had penetrated the soldier's cheek and settled in his tongue like a live mine.
The American surgeon was transported, by Atlantic Air Mail - and he had to protect those around him of his colleagues, as the surgical difficulty doubled, as any wrong movement would fire the poisonous bullet of the nature of this foreign body, so everyone said they knew nothing about it, due to their lack of military information.
After the surgeon threw the bullet away from the operating room, he hurried back to continue performing the operation, which this time took five hours. This doctor announced after the end of the operation that the patient would stay alive, and that he would be able to speak and that his recovery period ranges between three and four weeks.
Some newspapers published in London recently indicated that English police dogs will be used by American units in the jungle war in Vietnam. These newspapers say that there are a number of English dogs, of the "Spaniel" and "Labrador" types, and they have been penetrated in being trained now in the city of Case in Hertfordshire by the Americans, in the jungle warfare school.
Preventing Female Conductors from Wearing Short Dresses
Female conductors working on large passenger cars in Brighton, England, were banned from wearing dresses that rise above the knees during duty.
A spokesman for the transport department said that seeing female conductors in these cars as they go up and down in their tight, cut-off dresses with their short twists is embarrassing for passengers.
English forests in Malaysia. These newspapers cited a conclusion that Britain had tried this type of dog in the past in Vietnam where the Americans will use them on their fronts, to force Viet Cong soldiers to leave their hideouts in the forests.
It is known that the American government had asked Britain to use these dogs, and to train Americans on the power of using them.

3,008 Pounds Value of a Postage Stamp
An airmail letter that was in a plane that crashed when it was making the first attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean in 1919 was sold in London yesterday for 3,008 pounds sterling.
The stamp is one of about 12 stamps in the world and is in the Newfoundland stamp collection owned by Mr. Kenneth Gerrish from the city of Case and Wicklow in Ireland.
The stamp is of the three-pence denomination and is stamped with the phrase "Atlantic Air Mail - and on it first attempt first April 1919". Rawson was the Postmaster General of Newfoundland at that time.
If it weren't for these words, the stamp would not be worth more than a few pence.
The letter was in a mail bag on board a plane piloted by Major H. G. Raynham, and the plane crashed upon takeoff in Newfoundland. Major Raynham returned to England with the mail bag by sea.
An unnamed London dealer bought this letter at an auction yesterday.
Windows for Paying Taxes
The Income Tax Department allowed more than the Tax Authority, this has become an ease for taxpayers in Ohio, America, the window is a destination in transaction papers when the Tax Authority opens a window and the pretexts used by countries around it through which taxpayers pay taxes without getting out of their cars.
Mr. George Patterson, Director of the Tax Authority, said that taxpayers prefer income tax forms and paying what is required of them without leaving their cars.
A New City in the Far East
The new city of (Lertshiforsk) is now being built in the Far East near the open sea views. At the same time, a group of industrial institutions and centers and a huge power station are being built. The population of the new city will rise to 130,000 people.
Construction of floor facilities, consumer centers, buildings, and commercial shops is currently underway.
It is worth noting that more than a hundred new cities have been built in the Soviet Union in the last ten years.
The Eighty-Second Institute in Azerbaijan
The eighty-second institute was opened in Azerbaijan, the Soviet Republic beyond the Caucasus, which will graduate specialists in extracting natural resources in the depths of the republic rich in oil, gas, copper, and other qualitative sources.

Meeting Minutes
The committee supervising the election of the Administrative Committee for Iraqi Jews met at one o'clock in the
afternoon of 1/23/1967 at the Meir Tweg Synagogue, and the calling of the voters began, totaling
one thousand and sixty-eight people. Those who attended came and cast their votes in the ballot box, and at
exactly five o'clock the voting ended. The committee extended the time by half an hour as a precaution, but no one attended, and therefore the
end of the election was announced. Upon opening the box, four hundred and thirty-two papers were found inside, among them one paper
that was not properly stamped, so it was neglected. It was found that the papers inside the box matched in number
the number of people who cast their votes. Upon counting the votes, the candidates whose names are listed below received the votes
indicated next to their names.

Our administrative committee has, since the date of its election, been committed to taking all measures that would improve the schools affiliated with it
and diversifying the education therein in a manner consistent with the desires of the community members as a whole - for this reason, it established two classes for the commercial branch
at the Frank Iny School. When our committee felt that the student enrollment for this branch was very limited, which does not justify
spending on it, it decided in the month of October 1965 to cancel the aforementioned branch. Due to what the Schools Committee explained
regarding the impossibility of implementing the committee's decision at the time for practical reasons, its implementation was postponed to the academic year 66 - 967.
Accordingly, our committee informed the school administration to put the aforementioned decision into effect starting from the next academic year
966 - 967 regarding the fourth grade of it only, pursuant to our letter No. 1131 dated 6/13/66
a copy of which is attached herewith.
Immediately thereafter, our committee received the letter dated 6/21/1966 signed by Mr. Abdullah Owaid in his capacity as a member of
the Schools Committee and the supervisor of the Frank Iny School on one hand and the commercial branch on the other hand. Also, circulars were sent
by mail to all members of this community, a copy of which we attach herewith for the purpose of creating confusion and rioting -
The aforementioned documents included what does not agree with the truth and the official budgets approved by the committee. While
it possesses the absolute right in how to manage its institutions in a manner consistent with its revenue amounts, and no one
among those who manage this school has the right to oppose it in that, in addition to that, what was included in those
documents is contrary to official matters, as it was stated in the circular that the expenses of the commercial branch do not exceed nine hundred
dinars, while the supervision fees of the signatory of those circulars for this branch only is one thousand dinars, in addition to
lecture fees, janitors' salaries, and miscellaneous expenses etc. . . amounting to (3518 / 500) dinars
in the budget approved by our committee and submitted by him, a copy of which is attached herewith. From all this, it is clear to your Excellency
that the weeping over the cancellation of the commercial branch by the aforementioned supervisor is not motivated by interest, but rather to maintain the continuation
of private benefits for him, despite the fact that he receives one thousand one hundred and fifty dinars as supervision fees for the Frank Iny School, excluding
the thousand dinars he receives for the commercial branch.
Our committee has borne a great burden in managing the affairs of the Mosaic community, and it is forced to take every measure it believes
achieves the public interest without being affected by it near or far. Our committee is committed to finding a balance between
the chapters of revenues and expenditures for all its institutions, and in the face of this serious responsibility, it has the right to take any
decision consistent with this responsibility. It is not in the interest to spend the figure mentioned in the budget on students whose number does not exceed
fifteen students, noting that general revenues are in constant decline due to the reduction of rents on
one hand and the existence of vacant properties on the other hand, with the continuous increase in what teachers receive annually.
In the face of this situation, the decision of the administrative committee is consistent with its current financial conditions, as there is a deficit of no less
than ten thousand dinars annually. As President of the Administrative Committee, I felt, in fulfillment of my duties, that I should present
all the explanations provided, supported by official documents. In view of the attached letters ⟦considering them⟧ a challenge and an insult to
the committee, I hereby submit my resignation, requesting your kind acceptance, and with highest respect to your Excellency.
