To the Honorable Chairman of the Administrative Committee for Iraqi Jews
Greetings,
We enclose herewith a copy of the income and expenditure account realized for the Ezra Menahem Daniel Stadium from 1 October 1960 to 30 September 1961, and we also enclose a copy of the stadium's financial position as of 30 September
1961, both duplicated from the stadium's books which were audited by the members of the stadium committee.
Salaries and labor wages constitute the largest part of the stadium's payments and reached during the above year (1327/500)
dinars. Stadium activities were seven days a week during most of the school year as training was conducted for
Frank Iny School students within their school sports curriculum.
The amount of (254/740) dinars is included under the heading (repairs and various wages, materials for gardens and fields).
(60/000) dinars are auditing fees for the stadium accounts and (50/000) dinars are legal fees, while the amount
of (99/340) under the heading (sports expenses) includes the value of trophies distributed in sports competitions
and tennis nets, volleyballs, and basketballs.
Electricity expenses during the year reached (99/365) dinars and include the relighting of the volleyball court
and lighting the badminton court and the garden. (20/000) dinars were paid as transportation fees for moving students of
Frank Iny School to and from the stadium.
Furthermore, the stadium still needs many pieces of furniture, sports items, and lights for the garden and tennis courts.
We have previously requested this aspect in our estimated budget as we allocated the necessary amounts, knowing
that they were not all spent, and we must keep this reserve for the current year; it will only be spent if
necessity dictates it and the committee becomes able to devote itself to this aspect.
The stadium committee had borrowed during the year ending on 30/9/1961 an amount of (2060/000) dinars
which was added to (500/563) dinars remaining from the previous year, making the total (2560/563) dinars.
The total stadium expenses for the above year reached (2070/168) dinars and the income was (207/408) dinars, so
the deficit is (1862/760) dinars, which we request to be recorded against the endowment of the late Ezra Menahem Daniel.
We are pleased to have been able to perform what we could on the administrative side of work for the public interest
in implementation of the spirit and content of the late Ezra Menahem Daniel's endowment.
Please accept our highest respect.

After greetings
We attach herewith a copy of the income and expenditure account for the Ezra Menahem Daniel Stadium from October 1,
1960 to September 30, 1961. We also attach a copy of the stadium's financial position as of September 30, 1961, extracted from the stadium's books
which were audited by the trustees of the stadium committee.
Salaries and workers' wages constitute the largest part of the stadium's expenses, and during the above year they reached
147/500 Dinars. The stadium's activities were seven days a week <del>during most of the school year</del> as ⟦students⟧ Frank Iny school students
were trained as part of their school sports curriculum.
The amount of <del>554/740</del> Dinars under the heading (Renovations and various fees, building materials and tools) includes
60/000 Dinars for stadium building heating fees and 50/500 Dinars for maintenance fees. As for the amount of 99/440 Dinars under the heading
(Sports Expenses), it includes the price of trophies distributed in ⟦sports⟧ races, tennis nets, and table tennis.
Electricity expenses during the year reached 98/625 Dinars and include the re-lighting of the volleyball court
and adding a clock for badminton and the garden. 40/000 Dinars were paid for transportation fees for Frank Iny school students to and from
the stadium. (Transportations)
Furthermore, the stadium still needs many pieces of furniture, sports equipment, lighting for the garden, and
tennis courts. We have previously taken precautions for this aspect in our estimated budget as we allocated the necessary amounts, knowing that we did not differentiate
between them, and we must keep this reserve for the current year. We will not spend at all unless necessity requires it, and the sale
within the committee's capabilities for this aspect.
The stadium committee had received during the year ending on 9/30/1961 an amount of 250/000 Dinars,
which is what remained of the 250/000 Dinars remaining from last year, so the total becomes 500/000 Dinars.
The total stadium expenses for the above year reached 686/280 and revenues reached 207/458 Dinars, so the deficit
is 186/720 Dinars, which is the amount whose entry exceeds the endowment of the late Ezra Menahem Daniel.
We are pleased to have been able to perform what work we could for the sake of the public interest in implementation of the desire of
the spirit of the endowment of the late Ezra Menahem Daniel. Please accept our highest respect.

In view of the start of the new academic year, we urge all teachers and instructors
who teach the subject of physical education in your school to follow what was mentioned in the
annual sports curriculum and its amendments accurately, especially regarding the organization of teams
and their training within the school and conducting matches between them so that they start from the beginning
of the school year and end with its conclusion. Let the teacher's main goal be
to involve the largest group of his school students in games and to provide them with training
that ensures they master the arts and methods of each game, instilling in them a sublime
spirit and virtuous morals, exemplified by the saying (be an athlete
in spirit before being an athlete in body) and we have firm hope that everyone will collaborate
to implement the curriculum with diligence and activity.

Your Excellency the Inspector General
Reference to your letter No. 2526 on 8 / August / 1961.
The thing I have noticed in Physical Education teachers in most of our schools, which is considered more important
than anything else, is the teacher's lack of understanding of the primary purpose of Physical Education lessons in
general and of races and competitions, whether individual or team-based, in particular. Therefore, I find myself
obliged to detail this aspect thoroughly to make the understanding of this point easy and guaranteed.
1- Play and competition are two basic elements of Physical Education and they are means to reach the
goal aimed at by Physical Education; likewise, cooperation, following and respecting the law, and adopting
the principle of playing for the sake of playing, all move side by side with the elements of play and competition.
Therefore, the teacher must always remember that developing the spirit of competition and valuation of winning and considering it
an end rather than a means of action, if it indicates anything, it indicates a departure from correct sporting ethics,
and it leads to only one thing, which is total collapse upon the first loss.
Today, we are in most need of youth who adhere to high sporting ethics and are aware of the basic
purposes for which they play, and this cannot happen unless the teacher is aware of these goals
which can be summarized as follows -
1- The purpose of sports, games, and races inside and outside the school is to serve the student
and educate him, not the opposite, and competition must be far from everything that leads to harm in

The character of the student and the deviation of his morals.
2- The teacher must not devote his efforts only to the care of special school teams or specific individuals
among the students; rather, he must care for the school and its students as a unit above all else. The successful teacher
is the one who works for the benefit of the total group of students, not for the benefit of a specific team or for the purpose of obtaining
the cup or medals.
3- The teacher must believe that the collective body of students is the basic foundation upon which special school teams
are built.
4- The teacher should encourage the student to compete with himself, meaning to make him try to continuously reach a level
higher than his current level, rather than trying to reach higher than
the level of others who do not have natural abilities and physical attributes
more than what he possesses; thereby avoiding the depths of physical, mental, and psychological exhaustion.
5- The teacher must understand that what is meant by cooperation is not just between members of one team, but rather
between different teams, as cooperation between them must be a factor in elevating sportsmanship
and making the game proceed cleanly and soundly according to the laws, as only through this is enjoyment and pleasure
obtained in play.
6- The teacher must make his students aware that success is the result of exerting effort and that it does not consist
solely in the result of winning, and that losing while playing fairly and honorably is one of the natural things in life
and that it does not call for blame or degradation of status.
7- The teacher should not neglect the matter of student spectators; rather, he must explain to them the principles of watching
and cheering with sportsmanship for the skillful player, whether from his team or his opponent, for competitions always
lead to strengthening the bonds of friendship between players.
8- The teacher must take care of the sports equipment and supplies in his custody, keep the records
pertaining to them, and work on preserving them. He must also follow the instructions issued by the Directorate
of General Physical Education regarding that and regarding the method of purchasing them.
9- Implementation of everything mentioned in the annual games curriculum and adherence to the teachings circulated by the Directorate
of General Sports, and not making excuses with useless pretexts for the impossibility of its implementation unless special
funds are available. The possibility of implementing this curriculum is accessible, and the matter does not require special circumstances
or special preparation.
10- The necessity of paying attention to the lesson test notebook for physical education lessons and following the
special instructions.
