The danger mentioned in your letter and referred to above is not within
the school property, but rather it is on the ground floor consisting of warehouses
belonging to Messrs. Khedhouri and Reuben, sons of Salman Alika - we request
directing the mentioned warning to them to remove the danger and carry out the necessary
repairs - and in the event of their non-agreement to carry out these repairs
we are prepared to spend half of the necessary cost for that to facilitate

After greetings
I would like to present to your Excellency the following regarding the Madya Munshi Salih School for Girls. We have been accustomed
in past years to employ in the staff of the aforementioned school three teachers for teaching the Hebrew language
provided that the teachers' salaries are paid from the revenues of the shops endowed for this school, considering that His Eminence the Head of the
Community is the trustee of this endowment. However, these shops' revenues were not sufficient for the teachers' salaries,
so we used to submit, before the end of the fiscal year, a budget of revenues and expenses to the family of the late Munshi Salih ⟦to obtain⟧
⟦approval⟧ and they would pay us. However, in this year, Mr. Shaul Salih Shlomo Daoud informed us of the impossibility of paying
the deficit this year and advised us to increase the rents of the shops. We were able to increase them for the tenants
by an amount of -/25 Dinars annually, but this amount was not enough to cover the deficit despite the efforts made. We informed
the Munshi Salih family of the matter, and they advised us to terminate the services of one teacher and keep two teachers in the school.
It is not hidden from your Excellency that the matter of terminating a teacher's services cannot be done without the approval of the venerable Ministry of Education.
Through the efforts made by His Eminence the Head of the Community, the services of one teacher were terminated and another was appointed in her place
by the Directorate of Education of the Baghdad Province, in the middle of the current fiscal year, i.e., at the end of the 46 / 47
academic year. Consequently, the deficit this year has reached the amount of 34/835 Dinars. We have repeatedly contacted the family
of the deceased, but they have not paid the amount until now and are insisting on not paying it. Given the approaching end of
the current month and the necessity of paying the salaries of the two teachers, I submit herewith a copy of the aforementioned budget, noting that this
deficit will not recur in the coming years after the termination of the services of one of the teachers.
In view of the above, I have come with this letter of mine, hoping you will kindly inform me on the matter, and please accept
respect.

School Furniture Import License
His Excellency, the Honorable Minister of Supply
After greetings and respect,
We wish to present to Your Excellency that the notable benefactor Mr. Edward Abboudi has recently
constructed a large secondary school for girls accommodating about five hundred students, and the purpose of constructing
this school is to serve the public interest and assist the esteemed Ministry of Education in spreading culture in the country.
He desires to furnish this school with special furniture available in the United States of America
due to its durable quality, suitable cost, and its superiority over the quality of local furniture and furniture available in other
foreign countries, noting that the cost of this furniture will amount to approximately (3000 Dinars) as follows:
 | Fils | Dinar
Cost of 500 desks for students | ... | 2500
Desks for teachers | ... | 100
Special furniture for the laboratory | ... | 300
Special taps for drinking water | ... | ..
Three thousand Dinars | ... | 3000
The aforementioned benefactor has requested us to mediate with Your Excellency regarding the approval for
the importation of this furniture, and given the public benefits intended from the construction of this school, which we lack
at the present time in every way, we request Your Excellency to kindly approve granting the aforementioned donor the necessary
license for the amount of $12,000 to enable him to purchase the required furniture from the United States of America.
And since the construction of this school is nearing completion and the school will open its doors
at the beginning of the next academic year, we request Your Excellency to consider this request as an urgent one and to
decide on it as quickly as possible.
Hoping that our request will receive Your Excellency's approval, please accept our abundant thanks and respect.

His Excellency the Honorable Minister of Supply
Greetings and respect,
With reference to your letter No. 132 dated 1/4/1948.
We present to Your Excellency that the institution which the benefactor Mr. Edward Abboudi began establishing,
and which will accommodate about (500) male and female students, is undoubtedly considered an assistance to the venerable Ministry of Education
and a service to the public interest for educating the children of Iraqis. We wish from the bottom of our hearts to encourage these benefactors
to complete their charitable cultural projects as much as possible. Based on what was stated in your letter referred to above,
the aforementioned benefactor has requested us to import the necessary furniture for his school from places with Sterling
currency or locally if possible. However, he has informed us that he needs to equip this institution
with technical apparatus for laboratories and various technical tools as detailed in the attached list. Since
these materials are not available in Iraq and it is necessary to bring them from abroad, we hope Your Excellency will kindly
approve their import from America. We estimate the prices of the necessary materials only at 3,000 Dinars,
which is about 12,000 Dollars, although their total price according to the items reaches about 5,000 Dinars.
We have firm hope that this request of ours will receive Your Excellency's approval as an encouragement to the
mentioned benefactor in completing his charitable work in service of the public interest.
Please accept our deepest thanks and respect.
